About The Owner

We are 50's year old couple who love to travel, cook and spend time with friends and family. We also enjoy hiking, biking and volunteering.

The Owner purchased this cottage in 2010

Why The Owner chose Niagara-on-the-Lake

Niagara-on-the-Lake has always been a special place for us. Every time we came to stay it seemed that Life naturally began to slow down. You feel this as soon as you arrive and it gives you a chance to appreciate what life has to offer and to finally 'smell the roses'. There are so many unique and wonderful places to see in the Niagara area including live theatre, wineries, music festivals, historic forts, museums, shopping and the most amazing display of flowers in a town center we have ever seen. We are also located on the horse and carriage route. Beautiful Horses pulling fancy carriages and their guests can be seen all through the day and evening as they stroll past our front door. It's simply magical to see and hear them....

We have always wanted to live in NIagara-on-the-Lake and in 2010 that dream came true.

What makes this cottage unique

Regent House is literally a 30 second walk to Queen Street which is the center of Historic Niagara-on-the-Lake. We are also a 2 minute walk to all three of the Shaw Theatre venues. Within a 20 minute drive there are over 28 excellent wineries to choose from. There are also many fabulous restaurants within walking distance or a short drive.

If you like biking, hiking or running there are many trails and pathways that offer breathtaking scenery. A couple that we really enjoy are the Niagara Parkway and the Bruce Trail. The Niagara Parkway is a paved path that you can walk, cycle, roller blade or run on which follows the Niagara River from Niagara-on-the-Lake to Niagara Falls and all the way to Fort Erie. Along the way you pass historic monuments, parks, a butterfly conservatory and of course the Falls. The Bruce Trail is a UNESCO designated area 700km long that has so many beautiful waterfalls, wildlife and scenery. It's our goal to hike the entire length at some point.

charming vacation spot

The Regent house was the perfect getaway for our family. The house is simply lovely and the accommodations clean and comfortable. No detail was ignored. Also, you just cannot beat the location of the house to town and parking is ample for the number of guests.

Great location and more than comfortable

  • 5 of 5

A 60th birthday gathered 10 women in this beautiful home for 3 nights for a wonderful experience. The house is more than comfortable, it is beautiful. The bathrooms are modern and clean. There is ample comfortable seating inside and out. The kitchen is supplied with everything you need. There are even umbrellas in the closet. We were able to easily walk to most of our activities, including the spa, shopping, restaurants, theater and a few wineries. Owner Melissa was very friendly and helpful, introducing us to her beautiful home.

This was truly a beautiful home, very clean and comfortable. Close to shopping and restaurants. Our group of six had such a great time. Good food, good wine and good friends. Truly look forward to staying here again.

Wonderful Experience

  • 5 of 5

Our group of eight adults and a 6-month-old enjoyed a week at Regent House recently. From the start Melissa and Paul were delightful, helpful and made sure that our stay was pleasurable. Regent House offers plenty of space indoors and out for a large group. Even the kitchen is ample in size to allow for multiple cooks at one time. All the utensils and gadgets needed were provided as well as plenty of cupboard space to store our food and supplies. The ensuite bedrooms were comfortable and gave plenty of areas for our belongings. Two bedrooms across from each other allowed the baby and his parents to have their own section of the house at night. We make an annual trek to NOTL each year and have rented several different houses around town. With its size and location plus amenities, Regent House fits our needs exactly and we have already reserved for next year.

Niagara-on-the-lake Gem

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at The Regent House was all that we hoped. It is spacious and lovely-elegance with a homey feel.

The location is perfect and Paul and Melissa are experienced, friendly and accommodating.

The space is versatile and will easily serve both large or small groups. Families with children or teens will be comfortable, as will a group of adults.

We happily recommend The Regent House for your visit to the area.

50 Years of Friendship Celebration

  • 5 of 5

I found the house to be clean, and comfortable. We had a fully equipped kitchen where we could prepare meals and a lagre dining room where we could share the meals together. The beds were very comfortable and clean and each room having its own bath gave us the feeling of a hotel setting. The house is located within walking distance of the main street of Niagara on the Lake so that we seldom needed a car to get out and about. A great place for a get away for large family or friends group.
