About Linda Van Kooy

My name is Linda Van Kooy and I am a horse trainer in North Salem, New York.

I moved here from Bedford, New York were I was for 20 years.

I grew up in Seaford,Long Island. I travel to Europe frequently because I have family in Switzerland and in Holland. I love to ski and play tennis and fly in small planes whenever

I love to share my house with other nice family's. I have a book on my coffee table in Block that renters have been writing there Block Island adventures and stories about staying in the house in. It's fun to read.

Linda Van Kooy purchased this house in 1998

Why Linda Van Kooy chose Block Island

I bought my house from a friend of mine who built it for himself. I ended up buying it from him and he built another house on Martha's Vineyard. I am so glad that I bought the Block house. I started out buying it just as an investment thinking I would turn around and sell it, but 18 years later I still have it. I'll have it forever. Block Island is amazing, every season and every year is special..

What makes this house unique

I call the house the," Secluded Cottage" because of it's location and privacy. It"s a great place to get away from the crowds in town, in the summer and be with nature all year round. The house is surrounded by sanctuary land and walking trails. In the summer you only see one house way off in the distance. It's really nice and private. The house is adorable and very well maintained.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Great House

I had such a nice time at this house. It was so cozy and each room had a lot of light coming through the windows. Really cool place to stay.

My family and I had the nicest stay here. The house is adorable and very cozy.

Wide wood floors with sunlight streaming in from different sides of the house at different times of the day. Very peaceful!!

Peaceful retreat in a beautfiul home!

  • 5 of 5

We stay on Block every summer and have been searching for the perfect house for our family to return to every year, and we have found it!

Linda's home is amazing....we really couldn't believe how perfect it is! We traveled with our 3 teenage children ages 11-14 and my parents. The house was set up perfectly for us. My parents took the first floor bedroom while the rest of us took the upper 3 bedrooms. the rooms are open, airy, bright and very spacious. The master bedroom was huge with a fireplace. The bathrooms are very large and clean and spacious. The washer and dryer were a welcome addition to our trip.

The kitchen and living room were our favorite places to spend our mornings and evenings. The kitchen has double glass doors that open up to a veranda covered in climbing vines and flowers our morning coffee location everyday.

The large deck and new Weber gas grill and large dining table were our nightly ritual while playing baggo and relaxing.

There is another tv room that the kids used to watch movies in that you can rent at the town pharmacy. it was perfect due to the double doors that closed it off so the adults could spend time talking in the other rooms.

we will be back every year, Linda was extremelby accomadating and helpful. Thank you Linda for an amazing week on Block!!! :)
