Why Susan Warren chose Florida

This log cabin is unique because every log was harvested locally and put together by hand. It is situated on the beautiful Chipola River near the Dead Lakes. This is some of the best fishing area in the world. It is surrounded by a forest with a variety of trees and wildlife. It is not unusual to to see deer, wild turkeys, owls, and a quail families nearby. Some of the trees are over 100 feet tall filled with birds native to this region.

What makes this house unique

It is uncommon to find such an abundance and variety of wildlife in one area. The house has a wrap around porch and is within 50 feet of the Chipola River. There are steps leading down to the boat dock on the river where kayaking and fishing are popular. If you would like to view a you tube of the cabin and surrounding area, contact me and I will email you a video.

Vacation away from Hurricane Irma

  • 5 of 5

This was our first time renting using VRBO/HomeAway, and I can't imagine my future experiences being any better. My husband, friends, and I live in Tampa Bay, and Hurricane Irma was heading right toward us. We made the quick decision to get out of town, so we looked for something in the panhandle, away from the water. We found this cabin and booked it immediately for the next 3 nights. We were blown away at how amazing this little getaway was. Susan literally thought of everything! While we were still a little worried about the storm heading our way, we enjoyed a trip to Mexico City Beach, campfires, walks around the property, and just hanging out inside during the rain. Susan was so flexible, and really made that cabin feel like we were truly on vacation. Luckily our homes weren't damaged so we didn't need to extend our time, but she welcomed us to stay until the next visitor was scheduled to arrive a few days later. Overall, A+ and we're telling our friends about this place.. just in case they need a little getaway, too.

Fantastic!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I needed a get-away vacation and this was the perfect spot. The cottage was beautiful, well appointed, and well supplied. The grounds were well maintained and Susan was a perfect host. Everything was as promised. We can't wait to go back.

Back Country of Florida at its Best

  • 5 of 5

My wife are in full agreement with all the other 5 star reviews, so no need to repeat!! We enjoyed the fishing(much better in the morning). The peace and quiet of just sitting on the porch and watching the river. Saw no one the entire stay except for an old friendly Golden Retriever that came over for a visit each morning from somewhere.

Be sure to bring all yours supplies as the closet grocery stores are more than 20 miles away.

We hope to return in the fall.

ENJOY

Well-Maintained Unique Property in Secluded Location

  • 5 of 5

The property really looks just like the pictures on HomeAway. Our entire group was impressed with the house and property. The sleeping was a little bit tight with 7 in our group- there are only beds for 6 (3 queens & a couple of cots) but we had planned ahead, so no big deal. The kitchen is well-stocked and big enough for several cooks working at once. Nice living room size for the group and plenty of bathrooms and hot water. We enjoyed the porch and the outdoor bathtub.

We used the home as our base for a couple of kayaking trips on the Chipola River. It is definitely secluded but that's kind of the feeling for the rural area. The commute from the house to our drop off and pick up locations was good. It was nice to relax on the front porch after spending the day paddling. We would definitely rent again.

Thank you, Susan, for your hospitality - and the refill on the lp gas for the outdoor tub.

Beautiful, secluded property!

  • 5 of 5

My husband, two boston terriers and I enjoyed this property so much! We stayed here 8 nights and stayed at the house most of the time. It was very private, has SO MANY TREES and a dock for the river. We brought our kayaks to get on the river. The fishing wasn't great, but we enjoyed the scenery and exploring the river. My dogs loved this property because they could run and explore and chase all kinds of things out there! The bed downstairs was so comfortable! We didn't turn on the TV when we were there...we brought our own entertainment of puzzles and board games. Great place to unplug, relax and unwind. We have AT&T so we didn't have cell phone service, but there was WIFI, so we weren't completely disconnected. The first day, we went into town to the grocery store to get food for the week and fishing licenses. We didn't go back into town while we were there. We went to Mexico Beach twice, which was less than an hour and a beautiful drive. We drove to Panama City Beach one day for some fishing. There's also a tub outside, which was a very unique and nice touch. The porch is amazing, if it's not too hot. This cabin is great if you like to be secluded, but would still be willing for a little drive for the beaches. We had such a great time!! If it wasn't 15 hours away, we'd stay again very soon! Thanks Susan for making our stay so enjoyable!
