“The Côte d’Azur will never be the same without André Svetchine,” wrote Le Monde on the occasion of an exhibition of photographs of his accomplishments at the Museum of Modern Art in Nice in April 2010.
Of Russian origin, Svetchine established his reputation for creating classic masterpieces along the Riviera with commissions for Christian Dior, Marc Chagall, Aimé Maeght and the re-design of both La Mauresque (Somerset Maugham) and the Villa Claudia on Cap Ferrat. Many visiting the Colombe d’Or in Saint-Paul-de-Vence assume that the building has been there unchanged for centuries. In fact, this world-famous auberge was remodelled by André Svetchine and completed in 1950!
A fitting tribute to his contribution to the architecture of this special part of the South of France was the holding of the memorial service following his death in 1996 in the Russian Orthodox Cathedral of Saint-Nicolas in Nice; the restoration of which he had directed in the mid-1980s.

Only 15 minutes from Saint Paul de Vence and 25 minutes from Nice Côte d'Azur International Airport, this splendid Villa is surrounded by 7,800m² of level landscaped grounds with many mature olive trees and various Mediterranean species of plants and shrubs.
Large terraces surround both the Villa and its 16m overflow Swimming Pool (with safety alarm) providing an extensive choice of locations for dining or simply relaxing.
A recent renovation of the spacious 400 m2 interior (faithful to the original style of Svetchine’s design) provides all the amenities of modern living, including air-conditioning in all four Bedroom Suites and in the main Lounge. The Villa is tastefully furnished throughout with a mixture of Provençal and contemporary styles and absolute privacy is assured as the property is not directly approachable from any public road.
The impressive Entrance Hall features a signature Svetchine balustrade staircase leading to the open Galleried Hallway and the upper floor.
The large Lounge (fully air-conditioned), with its trademark feature fireplace and characteristic double-height vaulted ceilings, opens directly onto the vast main terrace via three large French windows. There is also an adjacent Television Room with a B&O Television with Satellite / Cable Link and a B&O Soundsystem with Airplay and Bluetooth - WIFI throughout the villa.
The imaginative design of the ground floor flows directly from the Lounge through a separate spacious Dining Room (with open views to three sides) and sliding doors open onto a south-facing Covered Seating Area with views over the pool, the coast and the hills of the National Park to the rear of the property. This area is perfect for pre-dinner aperitifs or simply keeping a watchful eye on children enjoying the pool.
The flow continues through to a fabulous modern fully-equipped professional Kitchen with top of the range appliances (Gaggenau fridge, Gaggenau freezer with icecube maker and Garrenau winecooler); in turn opening onto a vine-covered dining/seating area with Barbecue, a Herb Garden and Olive Grove.
The Laundry / Utility Room is positioned between the Kitchen and Garage to receive delivery of provisions without disturbing the occupants of the Villa.
The spacious accommodation provides four individual fully air-conditioned Bedroom Suites; all with en suite bathrooms and private terraces. Each suite has full-height fitted wardrobes, bath, shower, double sinks & separate wc.
The Master Suite also includes a Study / Library overlooking the Lounge and a walk-through Dressing Room.
One bedroom suite is on the ground floor.
There is ample parking for 4-6 cars.
We are a German family (a doctor and a lawyer with three children). We grew up in Germany, spent many years abroad (in Switzerland, England and the US) during our university days, lived in London for five years more recently, and currently reside just south of Frankfurt/Germany. Whilst we have travelled (and continue to travel) a lot we have always been attracted to the Cote d'Azur, for its special light, the rolling hills, the seaside towns and the French way of life more generally.

Staying at the Chateau St. Martin in Vence (a leading hotel in this area of the Cote d'Azur which has recently undergone thorough renovation handled by star architect Luc Svetchine), we wanted to find a villa in the Vence area (because the altitude of around 400 m above sea level means it gets a little cooler during nights) that is equally south-west oriented, with sea views from Cap Ferrat to Antibes and the Esterel, and works well for a family or a group of friends of up to 8 people. Also, we were looking for a villa of typical Cote d'Azur architecture. Villa du Parc is the perfect example of distinguished Cote d'Azur arcitecture that far exceeded all our expectations. Designed by André Svetchine, who created other classic masterpieces along the Cote d'Azur for, amongst others, Christian Dior, Marc Chagall and Aimé Maeght, the villa at 400 m² is big enough for a group of up to 8 but yet because of its layout also works well for much smaller groups.
We recently managed to retain leading architect Luc Svetchine, who is André's son, to design "Maison du Jardinier", a small two bedroom villa on our property that will complement Villa du Parc and will be available for rental from summer 2017. Construction was completed in August of 2016.
Within easy reach of Nice airport; costal towns Nice, Antibes, Cannes, Monaco and Menton with its beaches, shopping and restaurants; and historic towns St. Paul de Vence, Vence and foremost Tourrettes-sur-Loup.

We really had a hard time to leave such a beautiful place – the house and the garden that we fell in love with at first sight!
From the moment we entered the gate, everything was a real pleasure. We were welcomed by madame Nathalie, who was super sweet to us. We appreciated the friendliness providing beverages and fresh flowers upon our arrival.
The house is really something special – one of those properties that you normally only see in magazines. We love the mix between the old genuine style, and the contemporary parts like the kitchen and the bathrooms. We also felt that the owner has thought about every single detail, using highest quality, both indoors and outdoors.
The garden…wow…it takes your breath away! Not only the lovely pool and the charming dining/hang out areas, but terraces, trees, and flowers in a perfect harmony. We practiced yoga every morning in this peaceful scenery, watching the endless view…
The location provides tranquility, but is still surrounded by so many beautiful villages/cities.
This is the most beautiful place we have ever stayed at, and we will be happy to come back!
