Studio (Sleeps 2)

Totally private. A cozy hideaway for two people in a separate building. No one above, below or next to you. Guests have complete privacy. However, your host is nearby - 'invisible but available'.

Please note that this is a small space but it's well designed and the patio provides more room and a place to sit outside. Close to downtown Carmel (ten minute walk) and west of Highway 1 in a quiet neighborhood where you feel like a local.

Comfy queen bed. Plush linens. Excellent high speed WiFi and cable TV.

Fridge, microwave, coffee/tea kettles, toaster & an initial supply of complimentary goodies (wine, juice, soda, snacks, coffee, candy etc.) More amenities than most hotels.

Bedroom/mini kitchenette & bath. Storage - both hanging and shelving. Room for all your stuff. Ideal for travelers who want a quiet place to relax and sleep after a busy day. You also have access to the adjacent storage space for storage of bikes, luggage, etc.

Private gated/fenced patio with bistro set - surrounded by open space, trees, birds and various other critters. The studio is surrounded by gardens.

Smoking allowed outside on the patio only.

Dedicated parking right in front.

We welcome you personally and provide a quick overview of Carmel and the peninsula.

After that you have total privacy.

Pet Policy: We welcome one dog. There is a pet fee but no cleaning fees or other charges. Call for details.

Just minutes from Monterey and Pacific Grove & 26 miles from Big Sur.

Monterey's famous aquarium and Fisherman's Wharf is about 10 minutes by car.

We are long time Carmel residents who can share a wealth of information with you - much of it that you won't find in the guide books.

Cancellation Policy: At least thirty days full refund.

Treat your dog to a romp on Carmel's famous beach. This town is very dog friendly.

Wonderful studio, terrific hosts!

  • 5 of 5

We've just returned from a lovely three night stay in this well appointed studio, a short drive or ten minute walk from Carmel By the Sea. Situated in a quiet residential neighborhood, this well crafted property is a worthy contender in our book over a hotel room. It's well stocked, thoughtfully designed and clean. We loved the surrounding gardens and care with which the hosts offered helpful tips and suggestions to make our visit to the area memorable. You'll be pleasantly surprised with this gem. Meeting Sylvia and Tim has sold us on exploring future VRBO rentals. Be sure to spend time on beautiful Carmel Beach, visit Mission Ranch (we went for drinks and enjoyed the bar menu for an easy supper) and on the drive to Big Sur, should you be so inclined, Nepenthe is worth a lunch stop.

Absolutely wonderful

  • 5 of 5

There is something very special about this studio, yes it's compact but it is also extremely well kitted out and you have every comfort possible. The bed is definately super comfy. The host are amazing and go over and beyond what's expected. It's a wonderfully quiet relaxing and restful place. We got great recommendations from Sylvia for dinner and we had some wonderful dinners. The area itself is beautiful. I would definitely recommend this studio.

Exquisite lodging for two!

  • 5 of 5

The well appointed studio was enhanced by the exquisite outdoor gardens surrounding the home. The owners personalized our experience, greeting us with local maps, and providing our unit with wine, sodas, snacks, coffee. The modern amenities were enhanced with magnificent original art inside and out. It was a truly original experience, within the Carmel residential district. We loved our stay and will be back. Thank you.

Quaint studio in great location

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed in the studio for 5 nights for the Big Sur Marathon and to explore Carmel afterwards. The studio is very clean, new, and provides just what you need for a little get away. The studio is smaller than most hotel rooms, but that was just fine with us since we weren't there much anyway. It's perfect for sleeping, showering, and enjoying a cup of coffee or wine on the patio. Sylvia provides guests with a refrigerator of drinks and snacks. She is a lovely host and we even joined her and Tim on their patio for a glass of wine one evening. The only thing I would note that is missing is a bath tub, so just FYI in case that's important to you. The location is great and Sylvia let us know of a walking trail to get to the restaurants and shops area. Tips: Carmel was surprisingly windy and quite a bit cooler than I expected for the end of April. I ended up bringing or wearing a jacket everywhere. Breakfast restaurants were delicious but quite expensive for breakfast. With a microwave in the room, we ended up heating up oatmeal one morning. We went twice to Napoli Wine Bar right next to Little Napoli. It was casual and a great place to just get a sharable pizza and glass of wine. One of the neatest parts of our trip was 17 mile drive in the late afternoon, then stopping at the Inn at Spanish Bay and sitting on the patio to watch the bag pipe player make his way up the 18th hole and then staying for the sunset. We really enjoyed our stay and would love to come back!

Charming Property with Lots of Amenities

  • 5 of 5

If you're looking for a cozy cottage in the heart of Carmel with all the amenities of a boutique resort, look no further! This quiet and peaceful cottage is both charming, functional and filled with the comforts you'll need while traveling. The cottage is petite, yet extremely well designed to accomodate your luggage and accessories. (They also have additional storage if needed.) It's private and has its own designated parking space. Tim & Sylvia are delightful hosts - welcoming, organized, thoughtful and happy to share local knowledge - they make the property even more desirable. They are as available as you need, while being discreet. The fridge, kitchen and bathroom cabinets are stocked with anything you might desire (or have forgotten!), they even have extra snacks and drinks available. The bed is very comfortable and wi-fi works great. Highly recommend!

Clean, Cozy, Comfortable

  • 5 of 5

Most people don't like to book privately owned properties because not only do you have to pay a cleaning fee but you also have to put down a security deposit and then hold your breath after your stay, while you wait for the deposit back. The great thing about this rental is they charge neither of those. The cottage is fairly small, hence, the word "cozy" but that should not be a surprise - the square footage is on the description so don't expect more than that. It's got everything you need (if not more) just like a hotel room would. It's the best of both worlds. If you are the type who is basically out all day exploring, this is a perfect place to come home to for rest after a long day. If you are the home body type, the cottage has a very comfortable bed for the "sleep all day" kind of vacation. It's true, you can't prepare meals here, but why would you when it is walking distance to downtown with so many great restaurants. You can also avoid the hassle of having to park downtown. There is no dining area inside the cottage but if the weather permits, you can order take out and eat on the private patio. They provide you with paper plates and plastic utensils too in case you want to dine in. If you don't have dog, don't let the fact that this place is pet friendly deter you from renting it - the place is clean. If you are hesitant because the owners are "nearby" - don't be. They do respect your privacy and we barely saw them. I can think of only one suggestion to make this a better rental - maybe in the future, invest in a single serve Keurig machine instead of the coffee maker.

Owner's Response: Nonna, Thanks for taking the time to make such thoughtful comments. We do make sure guests know it's a small space and that there is no cooking. We do make take out and/or leftovers easy to enjoy. And thanks for the great idea of a Keurig coffee maker. I'll look into it. Sylvia
