Overview

About the property

3 Bedroom, 2 Bath Sleeps 6-8 With Additional Futon On Lower Level.

Walk through the door and feel the stress slide from your shoulders. This house was made for getting away from it all. Whether it’s a reunion of friends, a family gathering, or just a quiet weekend away, you have found your home away from home. Abundant windows and a spacious deck provide spectacular panoramic mountain views with a 25-mile horizon. As the sun sets, all your troubles fade away.

You can find the best of the Vermont experience within a half-hour radius. In winter, ski Okemo (16 miles away)…enjoy a sleigh ride from Kedron Valley Stables…go ice skating or cross-country skiing in Woodstock…snow shoe around the 16-acre property.

In summer, hike or drive up Mt. Ascutney…pick your own fruit at Wellwood Orchards…enjoy a carriage ride from Kedron Valley Stables…catch a show at the Weston Playhouse … tour the Path of Life Garden. Or travel a little further afield to the adventure parks at Bromley Mountain, the Ben & Jerry’s factory, Hanover, or Burlington.

In any season, explore the nooks and crannies of Woodstock’s general store FH Gillingham & Sons…find local art at the Walpole Artisans Cooperative, the art studios of Chester, or the VAULT (Visual Art Using Local Talent)…watch glass-blowing at Simon Pearce…see a play at Northern Stage in White River Junction…sample Vermont specialties at Grafton Village Cheese Co. and the Green Mountain Sugar House.

Not feeling that ambitious? Settle in front of the stone fireplace for wine and cheese and conversation, gather the family for a rousing game of Uno or Monopoly, or snuggle up on the sofa or the master bed to watch a movie.

If cooking is your favorite way to relax, this is your dream kitchen: well-equipped, with plenty of counter space, and open to the living room so you can chat while you cook. Roast a turkey with all the trimmings or whip up a batch of waffles for breakfast. Or just put the kettle on for tea and pop something in the microwave. It’s all easy here.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Dear Homeowners and Kristen,

It is with overwhelming Pleasure and gratitude that we reminisce on our thoroughly enjoyable stay at this lovely woodland chateau. Every aspect of this fine estate collectively contributed to ensuring a pleasant and relaxing vacation. Whether the experience was falling into a welcoming arm chair after a long day of skiing under the radiant Okemo Sky,traversing the scenic property while enjoying splendid panoramic views of the surrounding valley or warming up next to a toasty evening fire, every feature of this luxurious Manor seamlessly functioned to guarantee an engaging and delightful visit. The location of the property naturally situated enough to offer a secluded feel yet close enough in proximity to major thoroughfares to allow commercial and athletic endeavors to remain practical, marked a perfect balance between the necessary attributes of a prosperous and contented sojourn. A full range of activities including but certainly not limited to skiing every day, exploring Woodstock and the Quechee Antiques Collaborative and even seeking out a a Czech glassblower was undertaken in the spirit of adventures fervor. Almost only ever truly felt when overcome by such stunning and magnificent surroundings. We cannot imagine a superior location to have begun our new year and wish to express our deepest appreciation for all involved in making the opportunity available. Peace Out.

Beautiful, clean & relaxing

  • 5 of 5

My family and I enjoyed a long weekend at this house over the summer. The property and home are lovely. The furnishings are new, the kitchen is stocked with everything you need to prepare a great meal and the house has a lot of room to spread out. The view from the large deck is amazing and peaceful. The front yard is large and private - great for a game of frisbee or touch football wit the family. Our daughters loved exploring the grounds. We enjoyed relaxing in the house as well as exploring the surrounding towns and attractions. We'll be back!

Utterly relaxing with incomparable views!

  • 5 of 5

This was the PERFECT spot for a girls' weekend. Easy to get to, but still feels completely away from it all. Warm, comfy, like the home you wish you had. Fully equipped kitchen had everything we needed, and more. Great evenings on the deck with a glass of wine, and I slept like a baby every night. Can't wait to come back to this wonderful spot!
