The house was perfect for having a family holiday gathering. Lots of space to visit and play. Super child friendly.
A couple of things to note: it was hard to find the house - directions may need updating; the property manager changed and we didn't have anyone to contact about some problems that arose; the security code on the door was not the right one and we were locked out for a while waiting for help; the house does need some updating: the upstairs shower didn't work (knob came off); some shades were broken; heat was either sweltering or cool; a few cleaning issues (i.e. not a thorough cleaning of floors; Coffeemaker and filter hadn't been cleaned out and it was thick with mold).
All this being said, we would rent the property again. Great location, wonderful view, and super relaxing atmosphere.
We recently completed our third stay within the last year at this updated historic cabin, and we will be coming back!
Nestled in on the north side of the island, this house has a territorial view with a private beach. We appreciate this as a family spot which allows plenty of independence for the kids and relaxation for the adults. Our children spend their days at the water's edge, shooting pool, and playing board games. S'mores at the fire pit makes a perfect end to the day.
Every room in the house has a stunning water view and balcony. Lots of room upstairs for a gaggle of kids, and two bathrooms in main section of house. The kitchen is adequate-- we grill dinners on the deck and let the kids fend for themselves from the kitchen for breakfast, lunch, and snacks.
The master suite is a later addition to the main floor and so separate from the rest of the house that it is like having a private mini-retreat within the home. The master bedroom has a panoramic water view-- from bed! The 2-person jacuzzi tub also with private water view is beyond compare. My husband likes to lounge on the deck, reading and watching boats go by.
Our teenagers love the Bloedel reserve (a 2-min drive) and ask to go each visit. 15 minutes by car takes you to all of the action-- south toward town (Mora Creamery is a must for the kids) and the ferry terminal or north to Poulsbo (Paella Bar for a date!).
I always read but rarely post reviews. This is the perfect spot for us-- kid-friendly, great for entertaining, beautiful and peaceful. It feels more like visiting someone's home than a vacation rental-- and while we're there we get to pretend it's ours.
Great location right on the water. Close to Bloedel Reserve. There are great restaurants on the island, kayaking, movie theaters for a rainy day, and even an amazing Indian Restaurant. The house is cozy and clean and the kids loved the pool table. Hosts were available and accommodating.
What an incredible family house-- it felt as if we were guests in a private luxury home. Our teenagers were occupied on the beach, playing pool, on the decks, and the master is set back on the main floor (with incredible views and private deck) to provide a lot of privacy when desired. 2-person jet tub with a view! For family time, the kitchen was cook-friendly, the outdoor grill got a lot of use from us, and the 7 of us were able to gather for meals around the dining table and in the living room for charades. The house has a really wonderful energy about it, and it is apparent that is a historical home maintained by a loving family. We immediately rebooked for our next vacation and are looking forward to s'mores at the fire pit! Highly, highly recommend!
What an incredible space! The pictures do not do it justice. We spent two weeks in the home and we felt more relaxed everyday. First: everywhere you look you see the water. The house is just above the beach with a private path to get there. Every room has large sliding doors and windows with a few of the water so you wake up watching the calm water and the ships sail by. Sitting on the deck in the mornings for breakfast listening to the water was the perfect way to start the day. We went for walks on the beach, walks in the forest behind the house, cooked s'mores and payed games. We found lots to do in Bainbridge and in the neighboring towns Poulsbo and Winslow with our family of four. Bainbridge has a KID Museum, Farmers Market, walking trails along the waterfront, incredible parks for the kids, delicious ice cream (Mora's), lots of local wineries, hiking trails, great shopping and restaurants. Poulsbo also has a farmers market, a great pastry shop and a nice downtown with shopping and restaurants. We have a 3 year old and a 10 month old and the place was a perfect fit for us, especially with all the kid gear she provided (crib, bed rails, etc). We decided to make it our regular spot and come back every year!
