Luxury Balinese inspired, designer condo located directly on the beach of the Bay of Banderas. Marin del Mar offers one of the best sunset views on the bay. After a full day of beach activities, take a relaxing jacuzzi in the master suite and relax on the spectacular balcony as the sun fades into the ocean. Elvira, our wonderful housekeeper, will prepare you the delicious typical Mexican breakfast of your choice, remember you are there to relax and be pampered. The condo is furnished with unique Balinese furniture complemented with artwork from local Mexican artists.
From a very young age my parents instilled me with a deep abiding love of travel and experiencing new cultures. Growing up in Texas, we would routinely travel to places that my schoolmates didn't even dream of, places like Turkey, Morocco, Guatemala, and the USSR. So different was my idea of a vacation than that of my peers, that when my parents took me to Disneyland when I was nine that I immediately wanted to leave and experience something more unique. I have maintained this love of travel throughout my life, and I have been blessed to explore a myriad of unique destinations and meet many wonderful people along the way.
Marin del Mar represents the confluence of my passion for travel, and sharing with others. This place is a labor of love in which I have tried to capture some of the beauty and mastery of Balinese culture and craftsmanship in the heart of Mexico. After purchasing the property, my son and I traveled to Bali to find furniture and art that could bring a bit of Balinese artisan flair to Mexico. Furthermore, I have lived in Mexico for many years now, and during that time I have become passionate about supporting the local artists in their craft. Therefore, much of the artwork in the condo comes from the painters and sculptors in the area. This combination of Balinese and Mexican gives Marin del Mar a distinct yet homey feel.
We bought the property in a charity auction and we are happy that our purchase will benefit those kids.
Unfortunately, the property isn't as advertised. Namely, it's not on the beach and only has a view of the water from a window. The parking and entrance are on a dirt road in the back that is unlit and didn't feel safe. The parking was on the street. The AC was poor. The wifi didn't work. The TV worked but had limited English channels. We did not see a jacuzzi. The accommodations were nice. The bedrooms and baths were great. The kitchen, however, didn't have an ice maker. We were told that we could buy ice at a local grocery store. It's several hundred yards to the beach but the beach isn't very nice. There are several good restaurants by the beach however.
We had it for four nights but decided to move to a hotel after the first night.
If you're looking for a beautiful mellow Mexican beach village... Punta Mita is your spot. It's real Mexico. This penthouse includes everything you need. Spotless and beautifully decorated. Just 1/2 block from the beach. Great restaurants too. Everything you're looking for is within walking distance. Whale watching, snorkeling, surfing and fishing boats all leave from beach. You can do as little or much as you like. The housekeeper, Vero, was an added bonus. She made us a wonderful breakfast and was super friendly. Made us really feel at home. This will definitely be a repeat trip!
