About Michael & Paula

We are originally from Kirkland, Washington, but now reside in Phoenix, Arizona with our five children. Our family enjoys traveling, especially between Arizona to Washington.

Michael & Paula purchased this apartment in 2007

Why Michael & Paula chose South Juanita

This property has been in our family for several years, it was at one time a cabin on the lake, but was relocated up the hill as Kirkland developed.

What makes this apartment unique

We enjoy the location of the property to nature, the lake and now all the new amenities of Juanita Village - Starbucks, Top Pot, Numerous pubs and restaurants.

The property and location is very dog-friendly, with several locations to walk our beloved dogs to. Dog park, Wooden Pier to the park or to Juanita Beach.

perfect for short stay - not recommended for long stay

  • 3 of 5

My boyfriend and I rented the bottom unit in this quaint little cottage for 20 days after moving to the Seattle area. It gave us time to find an apartment...and allowed us to have our dog (which was a necessity!) for that, we are grateful.

We chose this VRBO instead of a hotel because we wanted to be able to cook most of our meals in our first 20 days here. When we arrived, we were happy to see how outfitted the kitchen is. Has everything you could possibly need (even tupperware for leftovers)...but sadly, it has no usable counter space. As such, we found it was not conducive to daily cooking/meal preparation and ate at a lot of restaurants instead. Luckily, the place is about 500 feet from a ton of really good restaurants (Sushi, ramen, indian, thai, pizza, fish/chips, etc.) and only 2 miles from the adorable downtown Kirkland bar/restaurant area.

It also is very close to Juanita Park and Beach...where there are walking paths and a small beach area for swimming/kayaking/stand up paddle boarding. So that's a plus.

Other pros: Comfortable bed, perfect for 2 people when staying for short period of time, tons of linens provided, clean, parking for 1, quiet but convenient location

Cons: Thin floors...The bottom unit hears every movement from upstairs unit if it's occupied (not good for a light sleeper like myself), too small / cramped for long term stay...

If your vacation/business needs are near Kirkland/Bellevue, and you're only staying a short period of time, would highly recommend. But would not recommend for Long Term, or if you are trying to visit downtown Seattle on a regular basis...not super convenient for that.

workable but be prepared

  • 4 of 5

It worked for myself and my two kids (15 and 9), but just barely. It got pretty small after a week.

Location is great, lots of stuff within walking distance and short driving distance. But you are a block off the main drags so it's nice and quiet.

We wanted to cook more to keep meal costs down (and eat healthier!) but it was tough with the limited counter space. The bathroom was also a balancing act with limited space -- thankfully, my daughter isn't into makeup yet. :)

Beds were comfortable. Everything was clean and in working order. There was plenty of dresser space for clothes, though the drawers fall out pretty easy so you have to be careful.

It was a cute place, and worked great for a family vacation where we weren't there a lot. The price was right! Thanks very much for sharing your place with us.
