Just what we needed!!
We wanted a nice place to relax for a week & we found it here. It's a quiet neighborhood with friendly neighbors & the house has a back covered porch where we spent a lot of time. The washer & dryer came in handy too. Sue was wonderful- she had everything there we needed & offered information on places to visit, restaurants & grocery stores. If you enjoy walking, several restaurants are within a mile walking distance. We would definately stay here again if we get back to Texas. Thanks Sue!
Laura: Thank you so much for your kind remarks. My goal is to make people comfortable so it will be a pleasant experience. You and Mark were great and a real joy to know and I hope you can visit us again. Blessings. Sue
I loved the backyard with plenty of shade to enjoy a morning cup of coffee. I would of loved to grill out but the grill looked unsafe and was afraid to use it. We enjoyed reading about the history of the house and understand why the owner keep the older furniture but I would of enjoyed a more comfortable chair to sit in. The beds were nice but the mattresses were not, they probably need to be replaced. The kitchen had everything that you would need. The house is in a very nice and quiet neighborhood. The owner was great to communicate with and instructions easy to follow.
I just want to thank Sue for sharing her (her mother's) home. The house was just the right size for my boyfriend and I. It was nicely stocked with anything needed (We cooked dinner for my son we were visiting) and had all the pans, utensils, dishes and everything. The fenced in backyard and covered patio was nice. It was conveniently located close to where my son and his family live. Sue was very nice and came to check to see if there was anything we needed and even brought cupcakes. If I am in the area again I would definitely stay here again.
Nice place to stay in Temple, Texas
The house is a nice house. Sue is a nice host. We made a home of it because we were there for 70 days. Not all was perfect but all worked out well. My only negative comment was I thought I paid too much for what I received. I do not have a regret though. I would do it again.
Happiest vacation ever!
We are from Italy and we stayed 5 nights in this beautiful single home in Temple, Texas. Everything was cozy and comfortable, the house is equipped with everything you need. It might need only a couple of little fixes (bathroom and master bedroom doors).
Mrs Sue was always sweet and caring. She stopped by a couple of times to check on us. Thank you Mrs Sue for your kindness and hospitality. May God bless you and America!🇺🇸
Paolo: Thank you so much for our kind remarks. I am so sorry that you have trouble with the bathroom doors and will certainly check them out. I appreciate you letting me know. I hope you enjoyed your stay in Central Texas. I have been in your beautiful Italy several times and love the people as they are so friendly. I hope you found Central Texans friendly. Thank you again for visiting Central Texas and staying at my home. Hope you return in the future. Blessings. Sue Hamby, PhD
Over priced for the home
House was not clean..or maintained could tell even simple things like dusting had not been done for a while. After i complained they did come and do a quick dust to try but not really up to par. 21 month daughter cut her foot on the gaps in wood flooring and when they repaired they just did so with glue and left over parts of wood it made the pocket doors harder to close. Home owner was nice even sweet with promises of helping me meet people in the area, inviting me to events (i never got the details to meet anyone) and giving me money back for being upset about the roaches in the home. but never followed thru and had to clean up roaches daily. Also was hard to get her people to mow even when i was told they would show up. Had 3 days of the home smelling awful from gas since she often waits with car running in garage for yard maintenance people. Spoke to custormer services times as well as homeowner i will never ise rhis service again. Well.see if i get my deposit refund back.. been waiting a few weeks
This guest was extremely difficult and started complaining the first day. She booked it for one month as she didn't want to pay the whole amount up front but planned on staying two months. Personally, I was hoping she would leave after one month because she was so challenging. My question was if the house was so bad, why did she stay two months. If you read my other reviews, you will see that they are all great except for this one. She was the first and only guest that has every complained of roaches. I sprayed as requested even though I never saw any. I never had my car running in the garage as that would have been rather stupid unless I was thinking about suicide. She complained of gas smell when we returned the lawnmower to the garage, after mowing. I gave her the full deposit back even though I had to have professional cleaners come in to clean up all the cat hair that was all over the furniture and to get rid of the "cat smell" after she left. She complained about HomeAway charging her a service fee and was so angry that I ended up giving her back $125 to make her happy which it didn't. HomeAway told me not to refund her their charges but I did as I was trying to make her happy but I realized that she is just a very unhappy person. I contacted HomeAway tonight to see why they had not refunded her full deposit which I authorized even though I had extra expenses from professional cleaners and had to throw away the cushions in the dining room because of the cat hair and smell, and they refunded her full deposit on November 7. The fact that on Nov 16th, she was complaining that she had been waiting weeks and had not got her deposit back, speaks volumes in regards to her credibility. In regards to inviting her, I did offer to take her to women's luncheon at my church but she told me she was not a "religious person" and would not leave her daughter. I certainly would not rent to her again but I am going to pray for her as she is an extremely unhappy person. I am so thankful that all of other renters have been wonderful and very appreciative of my efforts. I am also thankful that Ms. Geist was not my first renter as my experience with her was not only stressful but would have caused me to never do HomeAway again.
