Cabin was not clean upon arrive and even had broken items in the home.
The home was not clean and well taken care of. Upon arrival there was a broken picture frame in the bathroom downstairs which we are now being blamed for. The hot tub is very poorly maintained and due to that reason alge and nasty smell was omitted. We are also being told we threw up in the hot tub and a had a major party. All of which is incorrect. Sad we are getting blamed for the property being poorly maintained. Also, there was no damage to the property but yet our security deposit is being withheld. I fully intend on putting in a complaint with homeaway. I would never suggest to rent this cabin in the future!! Stay away!
We have never had to keep a full security deposit from any of our guests in the years that we've been renting. In this case, we received an email on Friday evening thanking us for letting them stay at "this AMAZING home of yours. It is absolutely GORGEOUS!!!!", but that a picture frame had fallen in the bathroom and shattered. We gave them the benefit of the doubt and said thank you for letting us know and please be careful about the glass. We did not hear anything again re: the house until our cleaning service notified its following their stay that the hot tub and downstairs, master bath (the same one that had the broken picture frame) were trashed. The hut tub had just been serviced two weeks prior and our cleaning service sent pictures and said someone had spilled drinks and been sick near the hot tub and the bathroom. We want to assure any of our future guests that the house is meticulously maintained and the hot tub regularly serviced. We will let the past overwhelmingly positive reviews speak for them selves.
We had a great time in Lost River and look forward to returning. The home is beautiful and the views are spectacular.
THANKS SO MUCH! LOOK FORWARD TO HAVING YOU BACK.
Perfect luxury getaway for 6-8 folks
Everything, including the views are exactly as described. The cabin is very roomy and comfortable for 8 adults. Each bedroom has its own bathroom. The kitchen is fully equipped and modern. The decks on both levels fully surround the house. There are comfortable chairs, dining tables and a great hottub on the decks. There is plenty of firewood, with a great woodburning fireplace in the main room. There is also a separate firepit deck that you walk down to from the house. Can't wait to come back in the summer, now that we have stayed in winter. The wifi is great and needed, as there is no cell coverage (at least not Verizon) in the entire area. With it wifi calling enabled both calls and texts.
What we needed: all the comforts of home without being at home. What we got: more comforts than we have at home, along with peace, quiet, views and nature.
We enjoyed the crackling fire of the living room fireplace, the mountains which are visible from nearly every window, the birds chattering in the trees (northern flickers, red bellied woodpeckers, pileated woodpecker, cedar waxwings, bluebirds, red tailed hawk, robins, cardinals, dark-eyed junco’s and even a bald eagle), the hot tub perfectly positioned for the sunsets and privacy from the neighbor, the grill for our dinners, a gas fireplace to warm us up before bed...and more.
We didn’t want to leave the home, but we did. Just to say we did. We were greeted with small town diners (the best!), state parks, back roads, quaint stores and friendly people.
Not only is Idlewild itself a dream home we were fortunate to enjoy for a couple days, the area provided us exactly what we had hoped for.
We’ll definitely be back!
Thanks so much for coming! We look forward to seeing you back!
The house, the property, the amenities, and the views are spectacular! Hope to return again!!
The house is gorgeous and it is clearly evident that the owners have very good taste in just about everything they purchased for the home down to the availability of quality items in the kitchen to the big screen TV with Roku. There were so many different options for sitting outside with the gorgeous views, from deep cushion wicker patio furniture to outdoor table and chairs to Adirondack chairs and even six rocking chairs. The availability of a fire pit, a hot tub, and indoor fireplaces make this place so versatile for most any time of year. The fact that each of the four bedrooms has its own full-size bathroom is an extraordinary benefit especially when you have four couples and or four adults that are not wanting to share a bedroom. The layout of the house is a little different than most. The largest bedroom and bathroom, obviously the master suite, is located upstairs with the full-size kitchen and large windowed living area that looks out on the awesome views. The remaining three bedrooms each with a bathroom are on the lower level where the TV room is. So this would most likely be ideal for families where the adults would like to be upstairs or on the upstairs balconies, while the children are downstairs watching movies and playing games.
Of course no place is perfect and often times any minor drawbacks that do exist are not necessarily the owner's fault. The minor things we noticed were the lack of proper cleaning of cooking utensils from the previous renter or perhaps even several renters ago, not knowing which pots and pans were used by each. But there were several that we used that had not been cleaned well at all previously. Additionally whoever stocks the consumables did not do a thorough job in our opinion. Only one box of Kleenex is in the whole house and 5 rolls of toilet paper for the 4 bathrooms, & one of those bathrooms had virtually no toilet paper at all. If there had been kleenexes we could have used those instead of toilet paper for nose issues. There was one partial roll of paper towels and about 2 tablespoons of dishwashing liquid . The movies are definitely a little dated and you might want to bring your own if you want something in the last decade or so. But the Roku was a very nice addition! The TV otherwise has no service, but the owner did leave an extra HDMI cable so you could plug in your own laptop, which we did.
Overall it truly was a great experience and we look forward to a return visit with our husbands!
Great views and a quiet spot in the mountains
Full wrap around decks, endless mountain views, and a very large great room. Miles and miles of hiking in several national parks nearby. If you're looking for a place to recharge away from City Life, this place is perfect.
