Description

Historic Seaport Apartment Rental Photos and Description

Spacious bedroom with two Full Size beds and Walk-in Closet, large living room with pull-out sofa bed and kitchen. Take advantage of our unbeatable reopening price and enjoy! ♡

The Space

Brand new, beautiful colors and large spaces. The affordable luxury in downtown Key West. One block from the Ocean, two minutes walk to watch the beautiful Key West Sunset.

Guest Access

You take over the full studio, balcony, large living-room, kitchen and the best part, the bedroom.

House Rules

If we find that the apartment has been left excessively dirty, you may be charged for an additional cleaning time, or in extreme cases if we have to hire a professional cleaning company the fee is going to be $250.00.

These studios are really nice and if you throw a huge party that will probably disturb your neighbors and the two officers docking around the corner. And that's what we are trying to avoid.

It's Key West so feel home and feel good. Do whatever you like but if you did something bad, let me know, maybe we can fix it easier than you think.

Have fun, yes. Big house-party, no ;-)

The Neighborhood

Mallory Square the famous Key West sunset 2 minutes of hard walk

Duval Street, just around the corner

Ocean, Simonton Beach, two blocks

Sloppy Joe's, exit on the street, left, enter

Truman White House, visibly close

Dante's Pool, 5 minutes of exhausting walk on the sun

Hard Rock Cafe, next street to the right

Mel Fisher's Treasures, two blocks

Oldest House, three blocks

Hemingway's old bar, cross the street, he's home is a bit further

Pepe's, you can walk in your pajamas

...

Probably it would be easier to list what is not in 10 minutes walking radius :)

Getting Around

Open your door, cross street, take bike. Or take a seat and wait for the Key West Trolley. Sunset Sail, Sebago, Furry, Glassbottom Boat, Old Harbor and nearly everything is in 2-4 block neighborhood. It is the Paradise and at the Green House you are in the middle of it ;-)

Other Things to Note

I will do the same for my guests what I would do for myself, that means deals. My friends and their local businesses will help me with the discounts you can't get anywhere else. And whatever you get is probably the best option that I carefully selected to make sure you cannot beat me in finding a better one.

Why Kalman Venczel chose Key West

Duval Street! Nearly everything you would want to do in Key West are either on Duval or in one of the surrounding ports . The second most visited street is Greene Street, the corner of Duval and Green being the epicenter of Key West.

There are only two little streets around Duval & Greene that will protect you from the nighttime noise, Ann street being the best of the two.

The Green House is right behind the old Chamber of Commerce building on the quiet Ann Street, only a few hundred feet from nearly everything you would like to see!

What makes this apartment unique

Walk around the corner for about two minutes, and enjoy the world-famous Key West Sunset Celebration. Walk the other direction and do the same on Simonton beach, in privacy.

Location good all else mediocre

  • 3 of 5

On a positive note, the unit interior is brightly painted and clean. It also is in a very convenient location, within a half block walking distance to the main street and activities. After specific inquiry, parking was included via permission to park in the driveway.

However, we quickly found out why there were no exterior photos of the location. It is an unimpressive, poorly maintained frame structure. We were in the street level unit of a four unit property. The front door has gaps all around it and is "secured" only by an electronic deadbolt lock. Twice we were locked out due to the lock situation. There was no response to our calls from the number listed on the website but we did get a return call from someone in the NY area. She did arrange for someone to change the battery to the electronic lock. The second time we accidentally turned the knob lock which locked us out. That was resolved by them entering via a window to unlock the door. Despite there being lock boxes on the interior and exterior of the unit, the NY contact did not have the lockbox code so that we could access a key for entry versus the temperamental electronic lock. They did leave us a bottle of wine for our troubles but there was no consideration in reduction of the rental rate.

The unit is minimalist at best. There are two dated/uncomfortable couches with throw covers in the living room. The kitchen has a short supply of pots and pans. There is no tv in the bedroom. Apparently there is a washer and dryer around the side/exterior of the property but only found that out afterwards via other reviews. IF you are looking for a close to the action location, this is it. However, considering it has no other redeeming qualities, in my opinion it is WAY OVERPRICED. Look elsewhere.

Great Location & Good Amount of Space

  • 5 of 5

Perfect location if you're expecting to spend a lot of time on Duval Street/Old Town. Also a great location if you are expecting to walk to anything else on the island. You can sit on the porch and hear music from Sloppy Joe's & Irish Kevin's, or you can relax inside with the AC on and block out the sounds from outside. Living room has two pullout couches, bedroom has one king sized bed. Perfect for a couple or two or three friends (or could even sleep four comfortably), and fine for a family of four or five if they don't mind being so close to the night life. Owner left towels, toilet paper, soap, shampoo, and was very responsive to any questions. Would look to stay here again if I return to Key West.

Large one bedroom.

  • 4 of 5

My friend and I wanted a two bedroom but settled for this large one bedroom which worked well.

The placed seemed recently remodeled and freshly painted. The shower is great and the owner supplied shampoo and soap. Someone dropped off fresh towels and TP several times. She even insisted on making up the pull out sofa. It seemed a bit dark but most places in KW have heavy shutters. A few lamps would have been nice because the overhead lighting is harsh. There is a shared washer dryer stack unit in the driveway for the units to share. I didn't realize the dryer didn't work until I had a load of wet clothes. The are A/C units in the living room and bedroom. The both worked great and help drown out the noise from the bars. The TV was difficult to figure out and a folder with some directions would have been appreciated. The unit actually would benefit from a folder with information about things like when to take out the garbage, instructions for check out, etc. I emailed the host with questions a few times and he answered promptly. There is a small patio in front with table and chairs that is a nice place to sit and have a drink and read email. The floor of the patio was very dirty and sometimes some "interesting" people walking by, stop and chat.

I thought that the location was great but some may feel that it's a bit too close to the action. It's less than a block from Sloppy Joe's and a few other bars. It can be noisy at night especially at bar time but the A/C units dull it down enough for sleeping. It's very close to the Historic Harbor Boardwalk, Mallory Square and the rest of lower Duval St.

I would consider staying here again on my next visit but would prefer a unit on the second floor.
