Beautifully maintained Victorian home that has been in our family for over 30 years. Even though it is 150 years old, it has all the modern conveniences. In every room, you will be quite comfortable with plenty of room to spread out if you wish. The flooring, ceilings and wainscoting are showcased in lovely heart pine.
The gazebo-style front porch beckons you to relax with a drink, a book, or games from sunrise to sunset. You will delight in a yard of native wildflowers, a Koi pond waterfall, and gorgeous Dogwoods. The peaceful setting will make your stay even more enjoyable.
Our home is a convenient stroll to Main Street for shopping, antiquing, a cup of coffee, an old-fashioned soda, or a delicious meal. Meander through the quaint neighborhoods or enjoy a brisk run through the pine tree-lined streets. There is something for everyone.

Keywords: Quaint 150-year-old Victorian home nestled in the heart of Saluda, NC.
We have a deep family history rooted in Saluda. My husband grew up there and my parents used this home as a summer getaway. My husband and I now own the home. We live in Texas, but travel to the mountains several times a year maintaining our home and yard.I have a Maltese who fly with me and spend time in Saluda. I always have a warm heart the entire time I am there.
Karla T. Ward purchased this house in 1979
This will be our retirement home one day. Until then, we would love to have special people enjoying it as much as we do.
I have traveled to Europe several times. Saluda reminds me of the quaint European towns in Germany. To this day there is still not one franchise business in downtown Saluda. You can't get more Americana than that!
We have stayed here before and typically book for the next year during our stay!
Love getting away from the heat, to the sound of the birds singing on the porch of this beautiful Victorian house nestled in the sweet town of Saluda, NC. It's a place where you can feel quiet and relaxed and walk down the driveway to the farmers market and into town to to the grocery, post office, restaurants and shops. A multitude of outdoor activities are only a short drive away. Love this house and location!
This is the second year that I stay in this home. It is a quaint respite from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The first stay was exceptional so we all wanted to return. It was obvious that the owner had added additional loving care touches . The floors, fresh paint, oiled woodwork, new bedding are a few of the noticeable enhancements along with it being impeccably clean.
From the moment you enter Karla's home you feel a certain calmness in your surroundings. The front porch is a great place to visit, have a meal, observe the wildlife, read a book, enjoy the solitude. Town is just a hop, skip and jump from the residence and walking is the best way to get there. The shops in Saluda are inviting and reminiscent of a simpler life. The restaurants provide quality food and are accommodating to all palates. Hendersonville, Flat Rock, and Asheville are within a short driving distance.
I favorably recommend this home for families and reuniting with old friends.
If memories and quality time are what you are interested in creating, then this home is the place to be!
Thank you Karla for sharing this gem with us all.

You feel like it is your own home with lovely art, personal photos on the walls, a wonderful porch for morning coffee or evening chats with friends and family. Saluda is a sweet little town with a friendly vibe, excellent restaurants, the Steamy Mug coffee shop, a brew pub and interesting shops. The town recently added public glass art installations in City Hall, the library and Police Station, all made by local artists and high school students. Everthing is in walking distance. The house on Coates is a perfect place for a girls reunion, family vacation or romantic stay. Very well appointed, spotless, surrounded by hydrangea, tall trees and a small koi pond. We hated to leave this gem in the Blue Ridge. We will be back every year and appreciate the owner who shares this lovely place with us.
...Because I am afraid it will be rented so much I will never get the chance to stay there again! My sister and I rented it for 3 days. It was heaven on earth! Everything is spotless and is actually more beautiful than the pictures. Everything you could need was provided. My son stayed for one night and his two children (13 and 15) begged to stay with us after he left. You know it's great when teens love their rooms AND the koi pond and flowers. We ate all our meals on the porch and enjoyed so much beauty of God's creation. Town was a block away and safe enough for the two grandkids to explore on their own. Karla was a dream to work with, answered all my questions right away and made us feel so at ease. My two cockers enjoyed the cool wood floors to sleep on. It was wonderful to have a place to leave them without worrying they would annoy someone in another room as a hotel room would be. We ALL hated to have to leave and that is saying a lot when you have 2 teens with you. They both have new cameras and spent lots of time taking pictures of the many varieties of plants and flowers, as well as checking out all the historic places in town. Rarely did the tv get turned on. (Except for me watching Jeopardy!) The breezes and the weather were amazing and the kids did not even turn on the a/c in their rooms, just opened a window and enjoyed the air! My sister and I lived near Hendersonville until our early teens
so we are aware of the many places you can go to explore. This home is very convenient to ALL of the local tourist attractions but is so small town enjoyable you don't want to leave!
We are truly looking forward to another trip there in the future. I wish it could be the rest of this month. Karla thank you again. I could go on all day and night about this place. Thank you for sharing it! Thank you for being so accommodating! Thank you ...Thank you...Thank you!
Short but memorable excursions include a full array of water activies on the nearby Green River, Pearson Falls, Chimney Rock at Lake Lure, the Biltmore House, and Famous Poet Carl Sandburg's Home, to name a few.
