About the property

House, 4 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

Beautifully maintained Victorian home that has been in our family for over 30 years. Even though it is 150 years old, it has all the modern conveniences. In every room, you will be quite comfortable with plenty of room to spread out if you wish. The flooring, ceilings and wainscoting are showcased in lovely heart pine.

The gazebo-style front porch beckons you to relax with a drink, a book, or games from sunrise to sunset. You will delight in a yard of native wildflowers, a Koi pond waterfall, and gorgeous Dogwoods. The peaceful setting will make your stay even more enjoyable.

Our home is a convenient stroll to Main Street for shopping, antiquing, a cup of coffee, an old-fashioned soda, or a delicious meal. Meander through the quaint neighborhoods or enjoy a brisk run through the pine tree-lined streets. There is something for everyone.

Our housekeeper charges $125.00 for cleaning. This is left in cash on the kitchen table. This is not included in your quote.

About Karla T. Ward

We have a deep family history rooted in Saluda. My husband grew up there and my parents used this home as a summer getaway. My husband and I now own the home. We live in Texas, but travel to the mountains several times a year maintaining our home and yard.I have a Maltese who fly with me and spend time in Saluda. I always have a warm heart the entire time I am there.

Karla T. Ward purchased this house in 1979

Why Karla T. Ward chose Asheville Area

This will be our retirement home one day. Until then, we would love to have special people enjoying it as much as we do.

What makes this house unique

I have traveled to Europe several times. Saluda reminds me of the quaint European towns in Germany. To this day there is still not one franchise business in downtown Saluda. You can't get more Americana than that!

A real gem...

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay over the past weekend in Saluda. This Victorian home far exceeded our expectations - spotless, comfortable, and in an ideal location. Beds were comfortable, AC and wifi worked great, and seeing the detailed woodwork throughout the home was amazing. We absolutely will stay here again during our next visit to Saluda. Visitors should check out the wonderful downtown shops, Green River BBQ, the Gorge Zipline tour, the Biltmore house (nearby in Asheville), and finally the lovely Episcopal church in Saluda (we were in town for a wedding).

"WOW" this house is amazing can't wait to come back

  • 5 of 5

Loved our stay, the pictures don't do this house justice the woodwork in here is outstanding.Don't even get me started on the art and antiques. The town of Saluda is quaint and very hospitable the stores brought me back to years gone by. The restaurant's were great with a mixture of old and new. My family and I can't wait to come back would love to try and make this a annual event. Thank you for opening your home to us Karla. Sincerely Jaime and Tina K.

Sweet old house in great location

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our short stay in this very nice house. In town for a wedding, we found that the house was within easy walking distance of Saluda's main street and the wedding venue itself. We wished that we'd had more days to spend there, whiling away time on the gorgeous front porch. A comfortable bed, nice kitchen, and comfortable living room were just what we wanted.

Charming, comfortable home!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay - good communication from Karla, great location close to downtown, and a beautiful old home. Only complaint was very little seating for dining - a small table in the kitchen for 3 people. There are several extra small chairs in the house, though, that you can pull around a table in the foyer/living room for more seating. Overall, we loved it!

Owner's Response: Thank you William, We love sitting around the kitchen table after we put it on the front porch or by the fireplace in the winter. Try that on your next visit!!!!! We welcome you and your family anytime. Thank you again, Karla

This place is a gem!

  • 5 of 5

This is our second time staying here, which says a lot. We love the mountains and enjoy trying different areas, but this house is so comfortable, convenient, and reasonable that it's a no-brainer. It is just a quick walk to town and cute restaurants and accessible to Asheville and all of the surrounding attractions. Very clean, comfortable beds and linens, and not a long list of to-dos for check-out either. We just love it. Karla is wonderful to work with too. Thank you!!!
