Beautifully maintained Victorian home that has been in our family for over 30 years. Even though it is 150 years old, it has all the modern conveniences. In every room, you will be quite comfortable with plenty of room to spread out if you wish. The flooring, ceilings and wainscoting are showcased in lovely heart pine.
The gazebo-style front porch beckons you to relax with a drink, a book, or games from sunrise to sunset. You will delight in a yard of native wildflowers, a Koi pond waterfall, and gorgeous Dogwoods. The peaceful setting will make your stay even more enjoyable.
Our home is a convenient stroll to Main Street for shopping, antiquing, a cup of coffee, an old-fashioned soda, or a delicious meal. Meander through the quaint neighborhoods or enjoy a brisk run through the pine tree-lined streets. There is something for everyone.
Our housekeeper charges $125.00 for cleaning. This is left in cash on the kitchen table. This is not included in your quote.
Keywords: Quaint 150-year-old Victorian home nestled in the heart of Saluda, NC.
We have a deep family history rooted in Saluda. My husband grew up there and my parents used this home as a summer getaway. My husband and I now own the home. We live in Texas, but travel to the mountains several times a year maintaining our home and yard.I have a Maltese who fly with me and spend time in Saluda. I always have a warm heart the entire time I am there.
Karla T. Ward purchased this house in 1979
This will be our retirement home one day. Until then, we would love to have special people enjoying it as much as we do.
I have traveled to Europe several times. Saluda reminds me of the quaint European towns in Germany. To this day there is still not one franchise business in downtown Saluda. You can't get more Americana than that!
This home is simply beautiful and well maintained. It is decorated with lots of antiques and wonderful furniture. All beds are extremely comfortable! We loved the two fireplaces and the porches. The yard is beautiful and there is lots of privacy......but close enough to walk into town. There were lots of extras like soap, toiletry items, paper towels, tide, spices, and much more. The water pressure was great. the kitchen was well stocked! We cooked most meals there. The house is very clean too!! Karla is awesome to work with. She's very thorough and responds very quickly. We had a blast!😃😃👍👍
This is the second time I've been here, and I'll be back.
This is a beautiful home decorated with antiques and situated on a lovely piece of land, so convenient to walk to downtown, but maintaininga a country feel!
The only thing it needs are exhaust fans in the bathrooms and kitchen. I set the fire alarms off twice while cooking breakfast!
We will definitely rent this again for a family getaway!!
Friends of 50+ years and I spent a long weekend in this lovely, historic home. The home and it's convenient location provided everything we needed to make our stay perfect. The house is immaculate; the fully equipped kitchen allowed us to cook whatever meals we wanted; the porch gave us a wonderful area to sit, talk, and enjoy the cool evenings; and at the end of our days the comfortable beds were waiting. We walked to Saluda and browsed the great little shops, ate at the Saluda Grade Cafe (highly recommend), and went to the Friday afternoon local Farmer's Market just down the hill from the house. And last, but certainly not least, Karla is the very best to work with. She doesn't just rent her home, somehow you know that she wants you to enjoy it and love it as she does, and to have a wonderful time while you're there.
This is our second stay in this home and this year was even better than last year The well-equipped house is so comfortable that we wish we could have stayed longer - even eight days were not enough in this beautiful home and this restful village. We especially enjoyed the spacious porch, where we could relax, rain or shine. The location of the house is perfect for our needs; close to town, yet we have the feeling of being in the woods. Just a short walk away are great shops and great dining. If you can arrange your stay to coincide with the Friday Tailgate Market, you will be in for an additional treat.
If you want to experience Saluda's charm and history then this is the house for you. You can walk to the quaint downtown of Saluda or enjoy time on the wonderful front porch of this lovely house. All the amenities are great including wifi, great shower, etc. This house has been loved and cared for very well. It was just lovely.
The host was wonderful. Karla is easy to get in touch with, so flexible and so easy to work with! I wish I could have stayed longer and enjoyed the house more- as I was gone all day doing an art class at Random Arts (also a great place!). I definitely plan to go back and stay here again! . FUN FUN FUN place to stay!
Short but memorable excursions include a full array of water activies on the nearby Green River, Pearson Falls, Chimney Rock at Lake Lure, the Biltmore House, and Famous Poet Carl Sandburg's Home, to name a few.
