Been dreaming of a river lullaby? Then look no further!
Paradise awaits! The Prince family invites you to share our one of a kind private park like lodge in beautiful Vida, Oregon.
The main house offers a master suite with King size bed and his and hers dressing rooms. There is also a twin bed for the little ones should Mom and Dad wish to keep them close. A 32" flat screen TV with satellite is included in the master should you wish to keep up with the outside world. Fall asleep to the song of the creek and river serenading you. The views of the river and creek from the master suite are incredible!
Bedroom two offers a very comfortable Queen bed with a large closet and TV with DVD and satellite.
Bedroom three offers twin beds with a TV and large closet.
Our two bedroom apartment is available for larger groups (rented separately). Apartment accommodations include a queen, full size, and very comfortable hide-a-bed, kitchen area with full size refrigerator, and view of the river.
The apartment offers comfortable space for up to six more (total of 15) guests, and is only available in conjunction with rental of the main home. Rates (in addition to main house rental) range from $95/night to $150/night depending on the season.
New for our 2015 guests, we have added a game room with pool table, ping pong table, a regulation arcade style air hockey table, PS3 game console with games, and a 40' flat screen TV for the big and smaller kids in your life.
Our property is located on the sunny North side of the river with beautiful views of the river, creek and foothills of the Cascade range. With over 400 feet of creek and river frontage, there is always a place to wet a line, or just your toes :)
The home is situated well off the highway on a quiet dead end street. Road noise is blocked by a 6' stone wall next to the highway and approximately 200 yards of trees and grass.
Enjoy fishing? We are blessed to be located on one of the finest trout/steelhead fishing holes on the river, with easy access to the river and creek.
Fry your hatchery fish on the grated firepit at the river or cook them on the Green Mountain Smoker on the riverfront deck. Please release all wild fish unharmed :)
Enjoy romping in a big yard? Come play on one of the largest lots on the river. With over an acre of grass and landscaped garden bordering the creek and river, there is plenty of room to wear yourselves out or just relax and enjoy the peace and serenity.
Volleyball, croquet, bocci ball, badminton, soccer, tossing a football or frisbee? You can't find a better location!
The property is surrounded by an incredible mix of outdoor activities. Rafting, hiking, mountain biking, golfing, fishing, hot spring soaking, birdwatching, wildlife viewing and so much more are all just minutes from our front door.
Our asphalt driveway provides plenty of space for an RV or your toys, with a plug in off the gargage/apartment on the driveway.
Our Mckenzie home has been our family retreat for 30 years. We are happy to offer to share the magic of the Mckenzie with you. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do, and trust you will

My name is Charles Prince. I am married to a phenomenal woman named Kelly, who, along with our kids is the light of my life :)
I was born and raised in Oregon (as were my wife and children) and learned from an early age to appreciate the beautiful gifts in my backyard--the Mckenzie and Willamette River's.
Back in those days our parents cut us loose in the morning and expected us to wear ourselves out by evening.
Living between the Mckenzie and Willamette afforded me wonderful opportunities to hone my independent streak and fishing skills.
I was a fishing and rafting outfitter on the river for 12 years before I decided to pursue a different path in life...
We have six children (four boys and two girls) who have been raised around the river. Many of the finest days of our lives have been spent at our Vida home.
We feel truly blessed to have such a quiet, pastoral setting to share with our friends.
Our dog's Gerta and Barchen say it is awesome too :)
Good dogs are welcome, but there are no fences, so please keep them close.
We hope you will enjoy our home as much as we do...

Charles and Kelly Prince purchased this lodge in 1986
Our home is unique in that it has approximately 400' river and creek frontage, plus over an acre of grass to run, jump, fish, play or just relax.
As you will see when you arrive--our hearts are in it :)
From the moment you turn in the paved drive, the Mckenzie begins to work her magic on you.
Before you even begin to unpack the car, walk down the sidewalk past the arched entry and gaze at the river...
then you will understand what makes our location and home so unique.
Take in the incredibly large yard well off the highway which makes for an exceptionally quiet and peaceful location for getting away with family and friends.
There is outstanding fishing right on the property. Our home is located at the mouth of Gate Creek, one of the largest tributaries of the river. With over 400 feet of river and creek frontage, there is plenty of room to soak your toes and wet a line.
The Rainbow and Steelhead congregate at the mouth of the creek which can lead to amazing days!
Flyfishing is especially good from June through July and again in September/October for Rainbows and Steelhead looking to fatten up on Caddis, Mayflies and other treats.
The property is also an excellent raft takeout.
Come experience the magic of the Mckenzie for yourself--but beware, it is an addictive experience :)
2013 was a fantastic year on the river, but a very sad one for our family.
The exciting changes to the home we had been planning finally came to fruition with the addition of the vaulted ceilings, new covered front porch and refurbished covered deck.
The availability of the newly refurbished apartment expanded occupancy and has been a real hit with our guests as well.
All of the excitement was tempered however by the loss of my Mom in Spring and Kelly's Dad in late summer.
Kelly and I are looking forward to a wonderful, and hopefully less stressful 2014!
Here's wishing all our former and future guest's all the best in this new year!

Wow! What a lovely house! We came to Oregon from Tennessee for a funeral service and needed a place to stay near Springfield and Lowell. This house gave us this and more.
Upon entering, the river house was clean & smelled good. It was very cold outside but the furnace heated us right up. The kitchen was full of everything we needed to cook, the beds were comfy, and the showers were hot! Plenty of towels, washcloths, blankets, & pillows made us very comfortable. The library had games,
Puzzles, & books available and we took advantage of all of them.
The view was amazing and the river was just a few steps off the deck. Breathtaking!!!
We walked to the local Vida Cafe for breakfast and to the quick mart where we bought fruit, milk, beer, and cereal.
This was such a neat place and we will stay here again when we return!
The house was clean, well equipped, and very accommodating. The Owner (Charles) is a first class guy that made exceptions to allow our basketball teams to stay there.
Went there for our company retreat, and it was a great success. The river access is awesome, and the house is great! Plenty of room for all 15 of us (with the additional apartment). It rained a lot, but there is a covered outdoor space that is really nice, with a view of the river. The game room was great, and the kitchen functional. Couldn't have asked for more, besides maybe a little sun...
The seven of us had an amazing time together sharing two nights at this very comfortable home on the McKenzie River. We enjoyed walking along the river's edge, skipping rocks, and taking beautiful photographs. The grassy backyard is perfect for Frisbee, yard games and picnics. The home is well stocked from the kitchen to the reading area to all of the TV's. We rented the upstairs apartment also, which is updated and roomy with it's own living area and kitchen. In the evenings, the game room provided continual entertainment and laughter as we realized how out of touch we are in our pool, ping-pong, and air hockey skills! The house is very accommodating, with privacy for everyone (of all ages) as well as great gathering areas indoors and outside. The bonus for us was a short, scenic drive for golf at our favorite Tokatee Golf Course. We will definitely return to this special property and hopefully stay longer!
This was a wonderful get away for seven of us friends, all women. We enjoyed our stay with the great scenery and fantastic weather. The kitchen was well outfitted with plenty of room to prepare our meals and for storage. We saw a lot of wildlife: osprey, mergansers, wild turkeys, and rabbits. It was very quite and peaceful, a true getaway for all of us. Although we didn't use the game room, we could see how that would be a benefit for a family with children as it had pingpong, pool table, foosball table, games and a television. We had a lovely time and enjoyed ourselves thoroughly.
Your property continues to be one of the highlights of the summer for my daughter and our two grandsons. This year the two grandsons found the small creek and I could not keep them out of it. They had their mother in the creek with them playing around and naming all the little features: Amir's pool, Alden's riffle, Papa's bend etc. Thank you for making this beautiful place such a great place to stay. I know we will be back!!!
The Mckenzie River has several natural hot springs to soak away your stress.
Belknap Springs is a developed spring 30 minutes East on Hwy 126. With two pools and river view, it is a gorgeous setting.
Terwilliger Springs 'Cougar Hot Springs' are more rustic springs managed by the Forest Service located approximately 30 minutes S.E. above Cougar Reservoir on Aufderheide Scenic Dr. The springs are situated a short 1/3 mile off the paved road in an old growth forest. Truly a gorgeous setting!
The Mckenzie River Trail offers a great hiking or mountain biking adventure just 15 minutes upstream.
