We have retired to the mountains of North Carolina and, Trust Us, we only live in beautiful places. We live in this area and think we have found Paradise in our charming town of Murphy. We came to visit and vacation here and just had to stay. Our home is pet friendly for we have two golden retrievers (THE GOLDEN GIRLS) that are the loves of our lifes. I am sure if you travel with your pets, they are also your children. Our 5 grandchildren think this is the best place in the world and we agree. It is so centrally located and after 12 years we are still exploring and finding new adventures. My husband's advocation is photography and he has enjoyed photographing all the wonders of nature in the area. Some of his photos are in the home. He won lst place in the GA Mountain Fair several years ago and won 2nd place last year. The fair is in July and is an adventure not to be missed if you are here. Fun for the entire family in Hiawassee GA.
The Owner purchased this chateau / country house in 2010
We came to visit here in 1997 and we fell in love. The next visit we found ourselves buying property and building a house here. What we love the most is the ever changing nature around us. We are always mesmerized by the sound of water and when we found this wonderful new home on a rushing creek we decided to buy it to share our piece of paradise in Murphy with others to enjoy. My husband said that the mountains are in my Scottish/Irish DNA and I would have to agree. As the saying goes 'You are nearer to GOD in the mountains than any other place on earth.'
The small town feeling where everybody waves and the deep history in this area is fascinating. The area where this home is located is where the last battle of the Civil War was fought on May 6th, 1865. This was an Indian Reservation and the Trail of Tears history can be found at our local museum. The folklore is long and interesting. All you have to do is ask and listen. A free performance every Friday night in the open air pavilion at John C Campbell folk school should not be missed. About a mile from the property is a monument to a Forge that was located here in 1839.
Dear Barry, Your lovely follow up note is as nice as your little paradise by the Rushing Creek! We enjoyed a tranquil and significantly cooler month of August at your cabin by the Creek. In fact, we fell in love with the whole area, and bought a small house just east of Murphy! Last night we gave our neighbors the vrbo info so that they can contact you for their own getaway needs. Thanks for everything, Jim and Jeanne
We had a very nice stay, all the comforts of home and much, much more! We we're looking for a place to unwind & relax, Rushing creek was perfect! Thank you so much. We are planning to return soon!
Cabin was Beautiful and the creek was nice in the back yard. The neighbors were too close with No Trespassing signs all around there property. The area was beautiful but the locals leave a lot to be desired. We were run out on the last day by some extremely disrespectful guy on a mower that started yelling and barking orders at us while my wife and I were trying to enjoy our cookout in the back yard. when I reported it to the realty place we rented from, I was informed that the obnoxious guy on the mower was here husband. I'm sure you can guess how much help she was in helping my wife and I through this encounter. My advise to anyone seeking to rent this property is once you sign the contract they don't seem to care about anything except the next sucker to pay them to act like fools!
My family had a wonderful time at Rushing Creek. The cabin was spacious and came with lots of little extras that made the getaway enjoyable. We opted to spend our entire time at the cabin without any sightseeing and were more than entertained. We enjoyed playing board games, relaxing by the creek, and playing in the front yard. The creek during our visit wasn't deep enough to float in, but was perfect for wading and exploring. We even enjoyed the outdoors at night. We watched the fireflies and gazed at the stars. This was the perfect quiet getaway for us.
Loved sitting on the back porch or down by the creek! The cabin was so nice and comfortable. I would definitely stay again. Thank you for sharing your cabin with us.
This was our third time staying at Rushing Creek. Everything was in great condition again, as usual.
We drove "over" the mountain on Davis Creek Rd to Telico Plains, something we had wanted to do the last time. Great adventure!
We look forward to coming again.
We had a great time. It was our first two week vacation and it is exactly what we needed. Somewhere to relax. We were even allowed to take our three dogs which made it a complete family trip. We even took a fishing charter with Big Ol Fish guiding service and caught a lot of fish.
