I have worked in Hollywood designing DVD and BD special packaging for years. Some of the films I worked on include: Star Wars, Star Trek, Batman, Harry Potter and the Hobbit to name a few. I have been a designer all my life and my husband and I built this home as a living art project. Our goal was to make it elegant yet comfortable. We hope you enjoy our Treasure House.
Paula Doherty purchased this villa in 2007
We saw the lot and fell in love with the view, air quality and array of birds. There is always a gentle breeze so it never gets too hot in the summer or too cold in the winter.
Magnificent views, Flowers and birds everywhere. An eagle actually came and sat
beside me when I was on my outdoir sala. Incredible, large pool with lion head fountains.
Shamans, art, antiques and good vibes. Our staff
Is full of love and generosity.
My husband and I stayed for a glorious week in this stunningly beautiful home. We arrived to the cheerful greeting by Elvia, our pampering angel. She had margaritas and guacamole with homemade chips waiting. The presentation was world class...complete with rose garnish made from tomatoes! Elvia's smile is radiant! We enjoyed her so much that we arranged to have her cook breakfast for us each morning. What a treat...sitting out on the patio with sweet Elvia pampering us with a delicious breakfast, surrounded by the beauty of the garden and pool area. The home sits up on a hill overlooking the city so the views are spectacular and the setting is peaceful. Many mornings we watched as hot air balloons drifted above the city, our curtains fluttering in the breeze. Heaven. Celebrations abound in San Miguel and we watched the fireworks from the rooftop deck at night. It was great being able to walk to the city but come home to the peaceful, stunningly beautiful home at night. The owner, Paula, was fantastic to work with and made some world class recommendations for transportation, restaurants and things to do.The home is a short walk from the world class Rosewood so we spent several magical evenings on their rooftop restaurant overlooking the magnificent cathedral. Paula's eye for beauty and design is unmatched. My husband is an art collector and we travel extensively. This was his favorite vacation home of all time! Thank you, Paula, for sharing your gorgeous home with us!
Just WOW ! I really had no idea how beautiful and peaceful a property could be, but I found it here, at Paula's beautiful home in San Miguel.
From the moment we arrived our visit was nothing short of "Amazing"
The Property itself is lush in landscaping with floral, bougainvillea cascading from the high walls surrounding the property gave us the most intimate privacy. A full sized pool which we enjoyed each day was a sanctuary within it's own. The house was adorned in the most beautiful procured artwork. Clearly Paula has spent a great deal of time curating the contents, everywhere you looked there was another beautiful piece which just added to it's beauty. If you consider staying anywhere in San Miguel, stay here, it is the only property with a 360 degree view of San Miguel. I promise this property will bring you peace and wash your stress away.
Alvea, the housekeeper was nothing short of a god send, helpful, an amazing cook ( she cooked most days for us breakfast and lunch ) but overall she's just a joy to have around, she did our laundry, cooked meals and cleaned the house...and boy is she quick and loves what she does and it shows.
Paula was just fantastic, made the booking process easy, offered up favorite places to eat and see and I could tell how much she loved this home, If I only had the skills she did I might be able to make my place in San Francisco as peaceful as hers.
The walk into town is quick, mostly downhill (wear comfortable shoes) those cobblestone streets throughout the city are tough, skip walking back up and take a cab (cost $4 U.S).
Notes: Plenty of room/alcoves and places to nap - try all of them, I did the first day there, I slept more than I've been able to in years..yup, it's like that ! COMFORTABLE & PEACEFUL !
Let Alvea take care of you, it's what she love's most, we left her a big tip when it was all said and done and shared a couple tears....we felt spoiled.
Immerse yourself in the surroundings of the property and let it take your stress away, it's impossible not to let that happen, this property evokes peace and beauty.
Thank you Paula !!! We'll be back !
We loved our time in San Miguel and staying in this home. I loved the many places that it provided to relax and enjoy the views of this beautiful city. Elvia was a dream and so pleasant to have preparing breakfast. We enjoyed having breakfast in the mornings and spending the day in the city and then coming home and heating up the second meal that was prepared for us. Having dinner at home was a nice way to unwind and enjoy the day. While it isn't in the Central part of town, I enjoyed being away from the noise and instead seeing the beautiful evening views of the city. You still have plenty of opportunities to be in the middle of all the activities of the town when you want. We would walk down to the city and usually take a cab home. Once we did walk back and it is quite a hike up the hill, but it is possible. I highly recommend this home for a wonderful relaxing way to enjoy San Miguel.
I loved staying in Casa Tesora. Waking up from the master bedroom there were magnificent views of San Miguel Allende to see every morning. On the roof top there was a 360 degree view of the city and mountains and I was able to take in the most breathe taking sunsets at night. Elvie the housekeeper made delicious breakfast for us daily and was accommodating in every way that she could. Reaching the owner Paula was easy and she always was responsive. The house itself is magnificiently constructed and decorated. It is truly a jewel box in its beauty. The pool is full size that is unusual for Sma houses and the gardening is gorgeous. Actually I am a bit afraid to say too many nice things to save this place in the future for myself but it is all true what I am saying. I have even booked a month next year already. The house is a pleasant 2o min walk to the town center. It is uphill and a cab is easy to obtain if you want to avoid the incline on the way back. If you want a cab to pick you up from the house elvie will give you a taxi number and they will come in 10 minutes. Book this house you will not be dissapointed.
Casa Tesoro is a beautiful and luxurious home at the top of the extension of La Quinta. As we were all for exercise we were happy to hike up steep cobble stone slopes each day to get to town and back. However, a taxi ride is very affordable (US$2). San Miguel was crowded this year compared to our previous visit, as the world has finally recognized it as an ideal location for entertainment, shopping, culture and archaeology. The home was perfect for the 6 of us, spacious with adequate privacy. It has a decent sized pool which we used regularly. As it was winter we needed to pay an extra fee to heat the pool, which worked out very well. The home has a well equipped kitchen, which the housekeeper maintains in tip top shape and she was always happy to make us breakfast, guacamole and margaritas! She is a very polite and amicable person that did the laundry regularly and kept the bedrooms and bathrooms tidy and clean. We took cooking classes at Hotel Sierra Nevada, which I highly recommend and if you enjoy food, San Migel has many excellent restaurants. If you enjoy shopping for food you can avail yourself of the many markets and use Casa Tesoro's kitchen to whip up some Pollo Verde of Pollo Pozole! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Casa Tesoro.
I cannot begin to describe how beautiful this home is nor how enchanting San Miguel de Allende and the people are. We were truly lucky to have found Paula's incredible home. We rented the home with another couple and were in San Miguel to celebrate a friend's 50th, luck has it the home our friends were staying at was about 1/2 mile from this home. The home is absolutely gorgeous Paula has spared no attention to detail. Everywhere you look there is something unique in beautiful, during the week we were there we uncovered so many details. The home itself is warm and welcoming, the bedrooms are spacious and the beds are comfortable. The grounds are immaculate the home itself is very clean and well maintained. The housekeeper Elvia is very accommodating as is the groundskeeper Arcario. Both are warm, friendly and welcoming people. Elvia makes a killer guacamole, she did cook a couple of breakfasts for us but we spent much of our time at the home were our other friends were staying at. She will go shop for you and cook meals if you so desire, she was a wealth of information as well. The location of the house is perfect a short walk to the main square, we walked at night as well and felt safe. The house does sit atop a steep hill so if you do have issues we recommend a cab Elvia gave us 2 that we had on speed dial but for the most part we loved the exercise. Our friends were staying at Casa Heyne, which is much bigger than this home but believe me this home is just as beautiful plus it has a swimming pool. Paula is an incredible host and super interesting, I had the pleasure of talking to her on the phone several times and hope to meet her sometime when I get back to LA. We were lucky enough to have been in San Miguel during Dia de los Muertos what a beautiful experience. We ventured out to Cañada de la Virgen, Mayan ruins about an hour from San Miguel very cool our friend had a rental car so we went to Dolores Hidalgo and to the ruins on our own super easy. If you get a chance go to the Sanctuary of Atotonilco and eat at Nirvana. There is a Peruvian restaurant called La Parada not far from the house you must eat there as well. So many places so little time!! If you are planning a trip to this beautiful City and are looking for a place to stay look no further, this home has everything you need and more. Oh did I mention eating breakfast on the outside dinning area with the fireplace on and the view of the town.....incredible.
