About the property

A beautiful knotty pine mountain home...a luxurious way to relax!

Welcome to your home away from home. Relax and rejuvenate in your fully appointed, peaceful, and cozy cabin home. If you're looking for fun and adventure you will also find it here.

WHEN YOU CLIMB THE STAIRS AND ENTER YOUR CABIN: You take in the bright and expansive knotty pine “great room” with a vaulted ceiling and stone fireplace. You see two overstuffed leather couches and a plush recliner where you can nap, read, catch up on emails, watch TV, or just listen to your favorite music. The cabin's prow front has floor-to-ceiling windows and a large wraparound redwood deck with views into your own personal forest. When you sit in a deck chair, you can sip your morning coffee or enjoy an afternoon snack--and surrender to the tranquility of the peaceful quiet, the warm sun, and a gentle breeze blowing through the trees.

KEYS AND OTHER THINGS: On the kitchen peninsula, you'll find your Welcome Book and Welcome Basket. Next to them are two cabin keys, the garage remote, and two access passes to all the private facilities on Lake Arrowhead.

KITCHEN AND BAR-B-QUE: You have access to a fully stocked, gourmet kitchen that will make you feel right at home. It's complete with a double oven, gas stove, a full set of dishes, flatware and cookware, a large spice rack, and serving platters for entertaining. If you'd rather, you can BBQ outside on the deck. Whether you cook or bring in food for your family and guests, you can sit at the rustic pine dining table that comfortably seats 10 people. You can enjoy breakfast for two or a quick snack at the granite peninsula.

ENTERTAINMENT: You have easy access to high-speed internet, HD cable television, an Alexia and a Sony stereo receiver with Bose speakers. The stereo receiver can plug into an iPhone / iPod / mp3 player for music. You can enjoy books, games and puzzles on the large coffee table in front of the fireplace. The DVD library includes a full selection of videos for adults and children. In the loft kids and adults can play foosball and air hockey. You'll also be able to use the office desk to print information about nearby attractions or sit on the love seat/sofa bed and watch the kids play.

BEDROOMS: We can accommodate 9 people. The upstairs master suite has a king-size sleigh bed, full-sized pine dresser and portable air conditioner. Did you bring your dog? You will find a large dog bed in the corner. The large bedroom window looks out towards the hillside trees. On the first floor you have two bedrooms with twin beds and full-sized closets. Warm blankets are available for the winter and light cotton blankets for the summer. In the linen closet you have beach towels available when you go to nearby Lake Arrowhead or Lake Gregory. In addition, the love seat on the loft folds out into a full bed. In the Great Room, one of the leather couches unfolds into a queen bed. All of these are super comfy.

BATHROOMS: The two bathrooms have fresh towels, body wash, natural shampoo, and hair dryers. Both have been recently upgraded with granite vanity tops, clear glass shower doors, and attractive new fixtures. The downstairs bath has a tub that is perfect for warming up after a long winter's day at the slopes or tobogganing in the Big Bear area.

DOGS: Housebroken dogs are allowed. If your dog has an accident, there is spray under the kitchen sink. We provide collapsible dog crates if they will make your doggie feel more comfortable during the night. We recommend keeping your dog on a leash during your walks. Please clean up after them. Doggie poop bags are provided.

PARKING: There is a large attached garage where you can park a car. You receive a garage door remote control to ease your coming and going. If you bring more than one car, there is an additional parking space at the entrance to the driveway. Also, street parking is permitted.

OUR REQUESTS: Please treat our home as you would treat your own. You will have access to the entire cabin. There are a few storage areas for our things. Otherwise the place is yours. You are welcome to use any of the teas or spices in the cabinet. If you find that you finish something, leave us a note so that we can replace it. We maintain a smoke-free environment. Do not smoke anywhere on the premises. Conserve water. There is a severe water shortage in the region. Please take short showers.

ACCESSIBILITY: You must be able to walk stairs. There is one flight of stairs to get into the cabin and another flight to get to the master bedroom. Also remember that Lake Arrowhead is mile high, which makes climbing stairs a bit more difficult.

OUR WISH FOR YOU: We want your stay to be as memorable as possible. We look forward to talking with you and answering any questions that you may have about our cabin home and the activities on the mountain.

About Peter and Wendy Lewis

Wendy and I have lived in Los Angeles for 30 years. Our daughter has graduated from college so we have an empty nest! Except that we have four hilarious cats and two dogs at home. We have traveled extensively throughout North America, Europe, and the Far East. We enjoy meeting new people and experiencing their history, culture, and cuisine. As well we love to entertain friends at our home in the US.

I am a business management consultant and Wendy is a psychologist. I love photography and digging into the rich history of places we are visiting. Wendy likes the adventure of discovering things that are new and different.

Peter and Wendy Lewis purchased this cabin in 2000

Why Peter and Wendy Lewis chose Lake Arrowhead

We bought this property in 2000, when our daughter was 10 years old. After looking at more than 15 homes in the area, we walked into our cabin and knew immediately that this was IT! We immediately felt the calming effect and positive energy of being surrounded by knotty pine wood and beautiful, comfortable and overstuffed furniture.

We bought the house immediately. It has been the place we go with our dogs, to relax and rejuvenate from our busy Los Angeles lives.

What makes this cabin unique

A beautiful knotty pine mountain cabin, to spend time by yourself, with family or with friends. A wrap-around prow front redwood deck, full gourmet kitchen, deep leather couches, vaulting fireplace, and three bedrooms. Minutes away is world class recreation.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a wonderful stay at the Lewis's cabin for the holidays! This Lake Arrowhead gem is like stepping into a movie: a cozy, inviting cabin surrounded by huge trees and, luckily for us this weekend, covered in a blanket of snow. Everything from the crackling fireplace to the huge windows overlooking that picturesque winter view was beautiful. Our doggies also loved the experience and we are thankful to the Lewis family for providing this pet friendly weekend getaway. Also, Peter and Wendy are the most gracious hosts. From the moment we booked, they were so pleasant in answering any questions and offering all the best tips for making the most of our time in Lake Arrowhead. It is evident they have put a lot of heart into their home and care about making sure you and your family will feel right at home too.

Perfect for Us! Wonderful Hosts, Amazing Property!!Everything Exceeded Our Expectations!!!

  • 5 of 5

The hosts Peter and Wendy were lovely. They were attentive and provided perfect directions and information about their home and the points of interest in the community and a very thoughtful gift basket of treats. It was truly "A bit of heaven in the mountains" for my family and I. It felt like home from the moment we walked in. The layout is airy and roomy and yet cozy and warm. The furniture, decor, and the wonderful knotty pine all harmonized to create the feeling of welcome, beauty, and comfort. The windows and wrap around deck provide amazing natural lighting, and give you the feeling of being outside even when you are cooking in the wonderful kitchen. Every detail, including the carpet, couches, recliners, beds, kitchen and bathrooms were attractive, clean and so comfortable! The kitchen was well equipped and provided everything needed for cooking our meals. We especially enjoyed how we could all be together while cooking, reading by the fire, scrapbooking at the lovely dining table while watching my grandaughter explore! Our dream of a restful, intimate family time came true, including the enchanting snow!!! It was my grand-baby's first time experiencing snow and it was magical to watch the delight in her eyes as it was falling. Our two small dogs loved it too,the home even had comfortable crates for them to sleep in!!! Oh, and let me add that the neighborhood was lovely and invited quiet walks. The cabin is well placed so that we felt very safe and private. We also appreciated the garage for our car and loading and unloading the baby, especially when it was snowing! I plan on returning every year and coming in different seasons! Thank you so much for this sweet winter wonderland vacation!!

Great cabin - has everything you need

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay here. From the welcome packet e-mailed us in advance of our stay to the well stocked property, everything was just as we wanted. The kitchen and pantry were well stocked for when we ate in, there was a binder full of suggestions on what to do when we left the property, and all the information and directions provided by Peter and Wendy made it easy to find whatever we wanted/needed.

All in all a great place for our family of 4 to visit (2 adults, a toddler, and an infant)

Charming cabin in a lovely setting

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful cabin. Peter and Wendy are extremely gracious hosts - they have clearly thought of everything from the guest's perspective. They provide you with detailed information before your visit, everything is clearly labeled in the cabin, and they are very responsive to any questions. The house is very clean and well-maintained, and all the holiday decorations made it feel even more welcoming and cozy. The house is close to Blue Jay and restaurants, but also on a nice quiet street, so you feel like you are really getting away to the mountains. Our only regret is that we didn't have time for a longer stay - we will definitely be back!
