About Veronica Sheehan
Alexander was born in the San Luis Valley in the Monteverde region and has lived all his life here. He started working when he was 11 years old helping his father herd oxen to take milk to the local cheese factory. At the age of 15, he began working for the Children´s Eternal Rain Forest, then he worked for InBio (Instituto Nacional de Biodiversidad) researching snails all over Costa Rica, he then worked for ProNativas, an non-profit organization that promotes the use of native ornamental plants as a conservation effort. He believes in changing the world one person at a time, starting with ourselves. Veronica was born in Mexico and spent 25 years in the States. She worked as a biologist, then as a licensed clinical social worker in various settings including private practice with people suffering from chronic physical illnesses and hospice care. She arrived in Monteverde a few years ago with her 5 year old son, Stuart. She founded PAWS costarica (Promotion of Animal Wellbeing Society), a non-profit organization to help educate people regarding the responsible and compassionate treatment of animals. She believes, like Alex, in changing the world from the inside (OUR inside) out. Everything we do, our choices and lifestyles sum up to our current state of affairs… we have the power to choose again so we can heal ourselves, our planet and all living beings. Their work with their ecotourism business, their Sustainability Demonstration Center, and rural communities helps visitors understand the intimate connection that we have to the land. The entire community gets to benefit from the tourism that comes to this very rural area and get to share their own wisdom. Everyone wins. Stuart is 12 years old and attends the public school in Guacimal. He shares our family dream of enjoying the simple things and having lots of fun playing soccer and bird-watching. Our dream is to achieve sustainability in harmony with nature
Veronica Sheehan purchased this Cabin in 2005
Why Veronica Sheehan chose La Lindora
22 years ago, Alexander bought this land. It had been used for cattle and was pretty devoid of tress. He wanted to reforest it and turn it into a safe haven for birds and animals. He built the cabin 6 years ago. It is now a 5 acre paradise!
What makes this Cabin unique
We love the peace and quiet, the sounds of the parrots flying overhead, and of the birds on the trees. We like having lots of space to roam and to plant things. Our animals are happy here too and we enjoy seeing them free and happy. We enjoy eating what we grow. We feel in harmony with nature. We are close to everything, but when we are home we have our privacy and space. There is enough peace that you can relax, renew and reconnect. Being here reminds one of who we truly are and why we are here.

We truly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful property - the views were gorgeous, the house had all the amenities we needed and helpful notes to explain the property. A true gem in Monteverde. Veronica was a terrific host and we loved that this helped support local social justice and sustainability causes!
We are very grateful to have such nice people stay with us and support our work at the Center through their stay. It is lovely to meet people who are like-minded and are happy and spread their joy to all those whose lives they touch!
Au naturale cabin
We had a wonderful stay at Casa Cielo. The best thing about the property was its beautiful natural surroundings and amazing views. Every morning you are greeted by a beautiful sunrise overlooking the cloud forest. You hear so many different birds and wild life. Such a welcome change from a city environment.
Staying at the property also means supporting the sustainability center, which is doing great work in environmental conservation and cooperation.
The location provided easy access to monte verde and surrounding towns.
Monteverde is magical
I wish we had more time to spend there, but what a nice oasis to come home to after trekking the hills all day! The view rivals all the expensive hotels in the area. I was glad to know that staying there might help in some small way support the efforts to preserve habitat in the area. Definitely use the GPS coordinates to find it. Even though it is close to the road, we never would have found it without them.
We are so glad that these guests felt like they could come home and enjoy the peacefulness of the surrounding nature, especially the view. Every stay indeed supports all the activities offered by the Sustainability Demonstration Center, and we appreciate all guests who choose to stay with us and support our work here. We are currently working on bigger signs for the cabin so that people won´t have trouble finding our home!
Veronica and her sustainability center are doing great things for the community! We showed up to a free salsa lesson, and our kids joined in immediately. Happy that our stay supports a great cause! The location is close to everything and the view is unmatched!
It was great hosting our guests at Casa Cielo, and are glad to hear that they loved the location. We are so glad our guests stopped by our Sustainability Demonstration Center. It was fun getting to talk together about what we do at our Center, and the community salsa class loved having the children join in!
Breathtaking location, out of the beaten path, reconnect with nature
As all of the area between Santa Elena and Guacimal further South, the view is spectacular, almost knee weakening!! The house is perched on a cliff, from where you can see miles around. We arrived later than expected at this location so we barely made it before Sunset. We were there during a very windy period, so at first, we were a little worried. But the house is solid. Built on two storeys, we had room to accomodate all 5 of us. My teenager slept on the living room/kitchen futon, and my two youngest, my husband and myself on the second floor, as there was a queen size bed and an extra queen size mattress which we settled on the floor. It is well equiped, although not enough bowls for all 5. Everyting was clean. Lots of daylight coming in, and plenty of lights in the evening. It was super cozy, with warm blankets. Lots of little help notes everywhere, which were super practical. And although you feel like you are miles from civilisation, internet worked perfectly. You also have a phone line, which was very useful to contact the owner, Veronica. She was extremely helpful, attentive and generous. It never seemed like we were bothering her, although she is such a busy person. Unfortunately, we did not have the opportunity to eat a home cooked meal by the nexdoor neighbour as she was away during our stay. But we had everything we needed to cook, pots and pans, gas stove and fridge. Grocery store in Santa Elena was a short 7 minutes drive. We were even able to wash our clothes, although the spinner was broken. We still managed. My kids loved that there were games to play with, and we loved the fact that there was no TV. Lots of hot water for the shower, and a little less hot for the tub, but my kids enjoyed it anyway. We even got to make a little lemonade with a citrus fruit we picked right from the trails below. I recommend you bring eco-friendly soaps and shampoo, to preserve Veronica's environment. We loved making our coffee from the traditional coffee maker. The only downside for us was the fact that one of my sons got sick during the night from tourista/stomach flu, so we were busy cleaning up after him, and had a hard time sleeping because of the Wind. Good thing we had a washer! On our last day, we visited the sustainability center where the owner works. She graciously showed us around and explained to us the purpose of her work. We really enjoyed it and we were also invited to visit her ranch, and swim in the river below. Great CRexperience
Lovely spot with great views and very helpful hosts
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Casa Cielo. The house is in a beautiful location and we loved waking up to the sound of howler monkeys, seeing toucans from the balcony, and watching the sunset. Veronica was extremely helpful with arranging tours and telling us which places were best to visit since we had only a few days. We also enjoyed having a traditional Costa Rican breakfast cooked for us by the neighbor Gisele on our first morning there. I will say the house was challenging to find. We were arriving in the dark, which I do not recommend, but even had it been daylight I think a sign that is visible from the road with the name of the house on it would be a really great addition. Again, we loved our time here and the house was clean and in a good location. Thank you Veronica for a great stay in Monteverde!
It was a pleasure being in touch with these guests. It is so easy for us to help with the reservations and makes us feel happy when our guests have a great time with the least amount of hassle.
It was great they enjoyed Giselle's home-cooking as this is a great source of income for her. SO glad you found the toucans! There is a family living on the property which has become a little safe-haven for many birds. Yes, the little sign can be hard to see in the dark. We will look into placing reflective paint or tape.
So glad they enjoyed the amazing sunsets and the peace and quiet.
Cloud forest preserves nearby, ziplines, birding tours, night hikes, world-famous Monteverde Cheese Factory, chocolate factory, butterfly, frog and orchid gardens. Horse back riding to hot springs 2 minutes away.
