Spectacular Four Bedroom Contemporary On Lake Superior With Private Dock!
Welcome to Whispering Pines on Lake Superior, our family's chosen name for this paradise on the lake!
You'll experience true relaxation in this gorgeous contemporary featuring 4+ acres of wooded privacy, 393 feet of Lake Superior shoreline, and a huge 60' x 60' L-shaped dock! Spend hours of uninterrupted time on one of three benches situated at various points along the bluff, all providing stunning views of the lake and at least five of the Apostle Islands. Or hike down the 76 steps to the water level and soak in the sun on our dock.
The home is a spectacular four bedroom, four full bath contemporary with Scandinavian styling, and was formerly operated as a Bed & Breakfast. The huge open family room and dining area boasts an 18-foot high custom ceiling beam, a massive glass wall overlooking the lake, maple floors, skylights, and a loft floored with Wisconsin knotty pine. Spiral staircases are the finishing touch that make this home a one-of-a-kind architectural masterpiece.
The main kitchen is well-equipped, with a new refrigerator and microwave, a gas island range, dishwasher, both Keurig and standard coffee makers, and endless cabinets!
All four bedrooms have amazing lake views, and each bedroom has its own full bathroom with shower. The fourth bedroom is a large suite with its own full kitchenette, living area, and loft bedroom - perfect for grandparents who want a little added privacy!
Step outside and you're surrounded by old-growth forest and wildlife. Bald eagles nest nearby, and the deer and songbirds are plentiful. The property has even been visited by an occasional bear and bobcat! The large deck includes a gas grill and generous 8-seat table overlooking the big lake and Basswood Island.
Within ten short minutes, you're in the center of Bayfield, a town honored by national publications for its restaurants, marina, shopping, entertainment, and overall charm. Go on a glass-bottom boat tour and visit nearby shipwrecks, visit the sea caves by kayak, take the ferry to Madeline Island, or experience one of Bayfield's many events such as the famous Apple Festival in October. You won't run out of fun things to do!

About Keith and Karen Soencksen
Ever since we moved to Minnesota from the east coast in 2002, we have been drawn to Lake Superior. There is simply no other lake like it. Our family loves to visit Duluth and the North Shore of Minnesota, which led us to search for lakefront property. We soon found Bayfield, and the rest is history.
Keith and Karen Soencksen purchased this House in 2015
Why Keith and Karen Soencksen chose Bayfield County
This home was the "Thimbleberry Inn" Bed and Breakfast for over 20 years. The owners designed and built the house, incorporating unique and eye-catching features, not to mention the obvious care and attention to detail that has been poured into the home over the years.

A Sanctuary Indeed!
It's called Whispering Pines for a reason. The grounds are covered with a thick bed of pine needles that make no sound as you walk the expansive grounds. The canopy shelters you from the rain so you can remain outside in a light rain. The lakeside pier with comfortable seating and swim ladders all with views of several Apostle islands tempts you to never leave the house. The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable, the kitchen well appointed and living/dining room welcoming. Surprise was The Madeline Suite- wow, what a great space! Location made it easy to explore Bayfield and Madeline as well as Cornicopia. A Quiet Sanctuary indeed!
Beautiful and comfortable
A beautiful place, we enjoyed our stay very much.
Outstanding property with incredible natural beauty
This is a beautiful property both inside and out. We greatly enjoyed our stay on Lake Superior and the dock was great for stargazing. The house is very well designed (lots of windows!) and well kept. We had a very comfortable stay and the home is large enough for plenty of privacy. I would recommend this to anyone who loves the beauty of the northwoods but also loves comfort!
Just Perfect, Can’t Wait To Return!

• Appreciated and enjoyed by all of us - even though we were of different ages with varied expectations
• Beautiful common areas with a wall of windows on the lakeside that highlighted the views
• 4 bedrooms with attached baths, all with views - (no need to share the facilities!)
• Well-equipped kitchen
• Spacious bedrooms and common areas with great furnishings
• Generous supplies in the kitchen and bathrooms

• And so much more that we'll remember after I press Submit!
Absolutely beautiful property located on Lake Superior just outside of Bayfield, WI. We were celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary with our children and their spouses for a long weekend. All three children/spouses had their own very large bedrooms with bathroom. Every room had spectacular views! Several seating areas around the property to enjoy morning coffee or a glass of wine in the evenings. Great boat dock and swimming area. Wish we could have stayed longer!
Gorgeous views great location
The house was absolutely great and set up and stocked well. Apostle Islands we're incredible. Casino and groceries within a few miles. Perfect get away.
