La Bella Villa is a unique, hand-crafted home made of island stone and masonry. It has a gorgeous view of Coral Bay and of beautiful Bordeaux Mountain. The house itself has all the character and warmth of a traditional Caribbean home, yet it is modern, well equipped, clean, and comfortable. Romantics will adore this picturesque and idyllic home and marvel at the architectural touches.
The house faces Coral Bay: its 12 by 40 foot long covered porch lures you into sitting outside to read, watch the view, talk and simply enjoy comfortable outside living. Each room has a beautiful view and each bedroom is individually appointed with island art and touches. And you’ll love the magnificent mahogany shutters and doors (all fully screened, of course) all around the house.
Behind a Caribbean stone wall and next to the villa, La Bella Villa’s pool deck provides the perfect place for enjoying St. John’s sun and the views of Coral Bay and Bordeaux Mountain. The fresh water outdoor pool has ready access to a shower from the deck area as well as an entrance to the kitchen. With lounge chairs, a table and umbrella for reading by the pool, beach towels, and a nearby gas grill, you have all the comforts for an afternoon in the sun. We also provide beach chairs and a cooler for beach outings.
Opening from the pool deck, the kitchen is a NEFF custom kitchen featuring a granite sink and concrete counters. It is modern and fully equipped.
The living room is furnished with traditional Caribbean furniture. With vaulted ceilings, ceiling fans, tiled floors and Caribbean art, it has a relaxing and inviting interior. For your entertainment, a British Colonial-style armoire houses the entertainment center, including a nice collection of movies, CDs, and games for guests’ pleasure.
The beautiful mahogany doors open to the 500 square foot deck with a fabulous view of Coral Bay. The porch has a wooden table which seats 6 for relaxed, al fresco dining. A comfy sofa and wicker rocking chairs make the porch an outdoor living room, cooled by breezes from Coral Bay and by ceiling fans.
La Bella Villa sleeps 4 comfortably in its two bedrooms, and has a queen-sized sleeper sofa in the living room for up to 2 more. The master bedroom features a romantic, British Colonial king-sized four-poster bed with luxurious linens, sconce lights above the bed, mahogany closets, a floor mirror, ceiling fans for a comfortable breeze, and views through jalousied/screened doors onto the porch and to Coral Bay itself. The master bath has a full, island style, walk-in tiled shower, footed sink, and comfortable privacy.
The second bedroom features a queen-sized bed as well as palm tree lamps on mahogany night stands. Overlooking the pool and with windows on three sides, this charming bedroom also features luxurious linens, Caribbean art, a ceiling fan for a cool breeze, and mahogany doors and window shutters.
After a day in the pool or at the beach, it is a short drive to one of the many fine or fun restaurants for which St. John is well known, including the famous Skinny Legs, Sweet Plantains, Aqua Bistro, Shipwreck Landing and others right in Coral Bay. A 20-minute ride takes you to Cruz Bay which features numerous other great restaurants and more shopping.
Perhaps best of all is the great access to the popular, beautiful North Shore beaches and the opportunity to explore South Shore and East End beaches, which are less frequented.
A variety of birds frequent the immediate area which, depending upon the season, may include the largest hummingbirds you have ever seen, even parrots, and our popular native bird, the little but gorgeous bananaquit. Coral Bay, which is a little more funky and laid back than the Cruz Bay area of St. John, is also known for the island donkeys and goats that wander the streets and occasionally come near the villa. Our very own iguana family lives in the trees off the decks. And the night sounds of the tree frogs will lull you into a deep restful sleep.
Couples and families – adventurers, romantics, or those wanting just to relax -- will adore this picturesque and idyllic villa. We have a 5-day minimum stay.

Why Sally or Franz Jaggar chose Estate Leinster Bay
St. John is our dream destination. Despite California roots, we'll never move there because the water is cold and the ocean is...gray! When we saw this villa, we fell in love with it! And have never wavered in our delight with Bella Villa -- or St. John -- since!
What makes this House unique
La Bella Villa is heaven in the Caribbean. AND it has a fabulous outdoor shower complete with a fossilized fish. Who could ask for more?

Private paradise with a breathtaking view!
This was the PERFECT place for us during our visit to St. John. The pool is fantastic, the view will make you want to wake up and have a nice breakfast on the balcony. The outdoor shower quickly became our preferred shower— something about being outside with beautiful surroundings! Peaceful paradise! You won’t be disappointed! Bring Deet 100 though! It’s the ONLY THING that’ll keep the No-see-ums from making you an itchy mess! They don’t bother the locals but they LOVE visitors:-). We highly recommend La Bella Villa and can’t wait to return!
It's always a pleasure to share La Bella Villa with new guests! St John -- and La Bella Villa -- are both special places.
Beautiful house and views. Sally was very pleasant to deal with. The road is close by so there was a lot of traffic noise in the mornings but not during sleeping hours. Very convenient location. Overall, a great place to stay.
We were so delighted to have these wonderful folks stay at La Bella Villa. St John is still recovering from the two hurricanes last September, and that means some extra noise from construction trucks and a few other temporary inconveniences. But it is great guests like these (patient, caring) folks who make it all worthwhile!
All the amazing things others have to say about the view, the outdoor seating, the outdoor shower and the house itself - agreed. It's pretty cool, and we (hubby, 10 year-old son and me) all enjoyed it a lot. Had all we needed and the view, deck and outdoor shower were heavenly. Beds were comfy. Not too far from some great snorkeling or into Coral Bay for restaurants and groceries.
A few things that would have been good for me (personally) to understand ahead of time:
- We were there during some pretty hot weather, and the overhead fans in all the rooms kept it quite comfortable.
- There are no glass windows in the house - just good screens on all windows and doors, and then these lovely wooden shutters with louvers that you can open or close to help control the breezes. Because there are no glass windows, you can really hear the insects at night - very cool, but a little loud for me the the first few nights. I adjusted to it and eventually enjoyed it.
- Driving: I know, I know - everyone comments on this. It's not just that St. John's is hilly and windy (more so than St. Thomas), it's that it's ALL hilly and windy - no breaks. Plus you're driving on the left in an unfamiliar car (so your front seat passenger has a better view of the road than you), lots of blind corners and the occasional donkey, cow, goat and human to watch out for. Add to that some grades of over 20% with hairpin turns, and it's either your idea of fun or a nightmare. I enjoyed it (mostly) and only bottomed out our nissan sentra 3 times. In hindsight, I would have paid the bit extra for a suzuki - smaller than a jeep for the narrow roads, and more clearance than a sedan. (We rented from Budget at the airport in St. Thomas - they let you go to St. John's with your car.) The driveway to the house is quite steep, but most of them are - even just getting in and out of the grocery store parking lot in Cruz Bay can be bottom-out-worthy.
- Beaches: If you want to go to some of the more popular beaches along the northshore, go early. We went to Trunk Bay on a Friday and got there at 10am. We got the absolute last parking space - there just aren't that many.
We are thrilled that these guests got to truly enjoy St John, and that La Bella Villa was their jumping off place for adventures. We loved that the insects (actually, they are tiny tree frogs) kept them awake -- but until we put a fence around the villa, we used to have wild donkeys that came up to the villa at night. And they did NOT make sweet night sounds! Thanks for the kind words, and please come back soon. We'd love to have you stay with us any time! You all were THE best!

La Bella Villa is our second home
We have been vacationing on St. John, USVI for the past 8 years. This recent stay is our sixth time at La Belle Villa and consider it our second home. When you drive up there is almost an instant sense of peace and relaxation. Rooms are spacious and well appointed. When you enter the villa you immediately see out the mahogany screen doors lining the rear of the villa to an amazing view of Coral Bay. The villa is always immaculately clean and grounds always ship shape.
The owners, Sally and Franz, are simply amazing people and immediately respond to any needs you may have. We can not say enough how much we love La Bella Villa and can't wait to come home again.
La Bella Villa is just off Centerline Road in a little neighborhood of 7 houses, most of which are inhabited by year-round residents. Bella Villa is itself up a slight hill so it has an unobstructed view both of magnificent Coral Bay and also, toward the west, of Bordeaux Mountain. This placement accounts for the privacy, nearly constant breezes, magnificent views and easy access to Coral Bay, which is less than a mile further down the road. Watching the sun and shadows on Coral Bay and the changing shadows on Bordeaux gives guests a great sense of peace and perspective. The views are to die for!
La Bella Villa is about 2 minutes from Skinny Legs!
Other Activities: Shopping, Boating, Parasailing, Miniature Golf, Shelling
