Green acres is located with in walking distance to the Centennial museum and hiking trails. With in a half hour of a great golf course, airport and lots of shopping. On display are artifacts from one of Canada's oldest museum also features a park with ramped washrooms and children's' playground. There are exciting weekly events at this museum which is conveniently located in Sheguiandah, minutes from Green Acres. Be sure to visit the mill seen here it is a great way to pass a summers afternoon.
Sheguiandah, on Hwy 6, is home to Orr's Mountain Hiking Trail. The 3.5 km trail begins at the village's north end, at the intersection of Orr's Road and the highway. There are three distinct trails on Orr's Mountain offering fine views of Sheguiandah Bay and Bass Lake, plus two spectacular lookouts. Be warned, though; the trail leading to the southern lookout is, in places, quite steep. Rock hounds will find examples of brown and gray, finely crystalline, limestone dolomite, and bluish gray shale. These are trails for all seasons with very different flora to be seen as time passes from spring to late summer.
