About the property

1 Bedroom, 1.5 Bathrooms, Sleeps 2

Suite Tallulah is owned and designed by a internationally known jewelry designer. Every detail in this cozy, romantic casita was planned to make you feel pampered and comfortable right in the center of town. Upscale neighborhood, near San Miguel's best restaurants, boutiques, and galleries. Flat walk to the jardin, and convenient to everywhere in the centro, right near the beautiful Parque Juarez. Suite Tallulah is a little jewel in a part of town where most rentals are vastly more expensive and large. Beautiful linens, kitchen accoutrements, and furnishings from local artisan craftspeople. Exquisite rooftop view with a lounge-like setting.

Benefits: Perfect for a first time traveler or Home Away user. The owner has her business office just around the corner - open M-F 10 - 6. Employees in the office speak Spanish, English and French and are there to assist you with anything that may come up. Daily maid service from Estella who is an excellent cook and more than helpful taking care of your laundry, grocery, and household needs.

Proximity to town: Suite Tallulah is approximately 1 block from everything....and for those who don't know San Miguel...there is the benefit of it being a flat walk! A rare luxury in this gorgeous mountain town.

Perfect romantic space for two; Great location

  • 5 of 5

We are frequent visitors to San Miguel but have always stayed in hotels on prior visits.

We chose Suite Tallulah primarily on the basis of its reasonable nightly rate and its excellent location - at the corner of Recreo and Huertas, in the heart of the Centro, a short walk to the Jardin (the central square), the artisan's market, Parque Juarez, and all of SMA's great restaurants, shops and galleries. (Thanks to HA/VRBO for including detailed locations on its maps.)

We were delighted with the house. Walking through the front door, you enter a comfortable living room with fireplace, sofa, nice artwork and crafts. To your right is a small kitchen / dining area with sufficient cookware, utensils and condiments. From the living room you ascend stairs to the large second level bedroom and full bath. The bed and pillows were very comfortable, and the bed linens were clean and fresh. The bathroom was well laid out with a large vanity and dressing area, big closet, and a strong, hot shower in a wide. deep tub. A glass door opens onto a small patio with a burbling fountain ... a nice sound to go to sleep by. :-)

Next to the fountain, you can ascend a spiral staircase to a rooftop patio with comfortable chairs, a tented day bed that would not be out of place on a desert caravan, and great views of the area.

We spent a very active week in San Miguel, and Suite Tallulah was a comfortable haven of rest ... Highlights of our week: (#1) Archaeological tour of La Canada de La Virgen, the most recently excavated and northernmost pyramid/city in all of Mesoamerica (if you go, book with archaeologist/guide Albert Coffey who has dedicated most of his career to this site); (#2) Fabrica La Aurora, a former textile mill converted to a center for fine arts, crafts, antiques, and fabrics ... the very best artists in Mexico exhibit here; plan to spend a good part of the day; (3) Mercado de las Artesanas, one of the best markets in all of Mexico, a feast for the eyes); (4) Exceptional restaurants, especially Firenze and La Parada on the high end, and El Pegaso for breakfast and casual night dining, all within a couple of blocks of Suite Tallulah.

Bottom Line: 5-Stars, great value/comfort/location for a traveling couple. We will definitely stay here again!

Perfect hideaway for a couple and well located to Centro

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at Suite Tallulah. The house is quiet - the new European windows do a very effective job of soundproofing! They also do an excellent job allowing the evening and early morning breezes to flow through the bedroom which is light and airy. My husband really appreciated the A/C as it was a little warm in SMA for a few days that we were there.

We enjoyed the dressing area and huge tub, and the shower pressure is great and the linens are lovely. The decor creates a relaxing "nest" and we spent most of our rare at home time upstairs in the bedroom.

The living room and kitchen were good also and the rooftop patio is a lovely oasis - sadly we didn't spend much time up there due to the rain, but we enjoyed it when we could.

The neighborhood is excellent - close to the park and not far from Centro (10 min walk). If you plan your walk you can avoid much steep uphill climbs when you return from Centro. We are in our 60's and found it easy to walk to and from Centro, the park, and the Belmond for sunset drinks on the roof. At the top of the street is the oldest Cantina in SMA and it's cute and clearly trendy - they have a good menu, mostly seafood.

I did not meet our host, but Sylvia came in daily to clean. She was delightful and though we speak virtually no Spanish, we managed.

I do think this is a lovely spot for a romantic vacation. Perfect for a couple!

Great location and property in the Centro

  • 5 of 5

The suite is perfectly located and has great local character and charm. The rooftop patio was my favorite feature with the air conditioning in the bedroom being a close second. The weather was uncharacteristically hot for San Miguel which made having AC a nice feature. The bathtub is large and spacious. The only drawback was the all-night barrage of fireworks which did not let up until daylight but nothing you can do about that.

Charming, compact and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

Ideally located, halfway between the Jardin and Parque Juarez. An easy walk to both. Well sound-proofed, which made for a comfortable and uninterrupted sleep. No sounds of guns/fireworks going off in the night or church bells in the morning. Ale, Nico and Martha took very good care of our various needs during the month. Highly recommended. We've already booked for next year.
