We purchased this home as a second home to enjoy with family and friends when not being enjoyed by those seeking the ultimate beach experience. We now live in Atlanta but grew up on the Gulf Coast and always dreamed of finding a perfect place on the water. We found it!
Stephanie purchased this house in 2010
Gulf Shores, Alabama beaches are the most beautiful beaches on the panhandle because they not only offer wide white sandy beaches and clear water but also because they are not completely overrun and over-developed. Also, the charter fishing out of both Gulf Shores and Orange Beach is world class and you can expect to go out on a charter once and have enough fish for your entire family for the whole week of your visit.
This property is located on the beach yet Little Lagoon is just a short walk away and is a great place to enjoy water sports or just relax on a kayak. If the tide is right, smaller boats can launch in the lagoon and in a matter of minutes be in the gulf.
Our family plus some friends just spent a memory making week at this beach house. We couldn't have been more pleased with the house. It had everything as pictured plus so much more. There were 13 of us (plus our dogs) ranging in age from 8 to 69 and we were all satisfied with it all. The location is away from the crowds yet it doesn't take too long to make a Walmart run. There is room to spread out in the house so we weren't all on top of each other when we needed some "alone time". The bedroom configurations lend themselves to a mixed up group and there were ample bathrooms. Since there were so many of us and we knew we'd be cooking all our meals in, we were concerned that there wouldn't be adequate cookware. Trust me when I say - this is a super well stocked kitchen - large pots, pitchers, utensils, dishes, flatware - there was nothing lacking. And the ice machine is a great touch. The beach itself is broad and, while not private, it wasn't horribly crowded. We took our canopy, set it up in the morning (to stake our claim) and we didn't ever feel crowded upon. Sure, lots of people but not piled on top of you. We did find out that dogs are not allowed on the beach (city ordinance) so we had to keep them behind the dunes (OK, maybe we snuck them out a couple of late evenings - don't tell). Stephanie was very responsive when we let her know of a couple of issues - nothing that hampered us but just wanted to let her know. I don't know if we'll ever be able to do this big family gathering again - but this week gave us a lifetime of memories and each of us would love to go back. Thanks Stephanie!
4 families in this beautiful home with plenty of space...it was awesome being right on the beach. The older kids ventured out on beach for vollyball and the younger kids ventured out for swimming! It's close to town but far enough away to be quiet. Would rent this house again if we come back to Gulf Shores...it's amazing!
Awesome. Highly recommend. 4 families and 3 single individuals ages 2 - 60. Great time. House was beautiful. Plenty of room. Elevator was nice when bringing in food and luggage. Beach access was perfect, secluded but not lonely. Great sunsets. Far enough from Hang out but close enough if you wanted to hit it up.
We've had a tough year and needed a getaway. We love the Gulf Coast with it's blue green waters and white sugar sand. This getaway was just for the 2 of us and we wanted to bring our pups. They are our babies now that the kids are out of the nest.
We picked Water's Edge because it sits right here on this lovely beach by the dunes. It is private, well-appointed, spacious. It's an over-the-top sort of place for 2 people to vacation, but perfect for what we needed in every way. We needed the luxury of the space, the beach, the peace and quiet. We have enjoyed every minute of it, going out each morning to enjoy sunrise on the beach, fresh seafood in town or cooked here (bought at the fabulous local fish markets.) (Favorite fish market is Blalock's on east side of 59.) Sunset on the beach (not crowded!) and wine on the deck every evening. We were hypnotized to sleep each evening by the susurrus of the Gulf surf. Doesn't get better.
We had wonderful meals at The Gulf Restaurant (best view and hip), Cobalt's (chic and yummy, great view), Flora-Bama (honky tonk fun), The Oyster House (delicious, homemade, get the key lime pie), and Bahama Bob's (try the burger). We bought and cooked scallops, royal red shrimp, grouper, red fish, swordfish (DEE-VINE), and super premiums lump blue crab. We love to cook and this kitchen is made for those of us who love to cook.
We want to come back with friends and family. It's like a second home for us. See you again soon.
The time we had in this vacation home was lovely. Our children loved the time we had together in this home as well as our grandchildren. It was amazing to watch the dolphins from the table as we ate breakfast since the ocean was only a few feet away. The description of the house is completely accurate and perfect for any vacation. We have rented several vacation homes over the years, and this home was the best rental in which we have stayed.
We just got back from a week at this fabulous house on the beach. This house is exactly as pictured, the beds are super (everyone had a bed, not a sofa sleeper or a couch), the view is unbelievable, the kitchen had everything we needed, (plenty of dishes and silverware) everything worked, the weather was wonderful and the beach was superb! We got to experience 7 moonlight nights with the last an almost full moon. The house was spotless when we arrived, the beaches were not crowded, the bedrooms are large and spacious.
One of the AC units went out after a short but nasty electrical thunderstorm. I called the maintenance number and he had a repair man out that had it fixed within 3 hours. There were no other issues. I only mention this to let you know that they were very responsive.
Some member of our 15 person group participated in the following local activities: the waterpark, the racing cars, parasailing, shopping at the Foley outlet mall, and of course, swimming and beaching. We all had a wonderful time and would have loved to stay another week. We also enjoyed the dolphin shows in the early morning hours.
We cooked and ate in every meal. It was a pleasure working in this kitchen. Plenty of gadgets, utensils, appliances and pots, pans, bake ware and mixing bowls.
I would definitely recommend this house to my friends and to you if you are reading this and thinking maybe. Go for it. It is amazing!
I recommended this property for families with small children with the exception of children under 2. There are several wide and open staircases. While they add to the beauty of this home, very small children require constant supervision. We had a 1 year old toddler and he had to be watched as he headed for the stairs every time he was on his own.
Other Activities: shopping, kayaking, boating, parasailing, shelling, wildlife viewing, miniature golf
