This cute cottage is the perfect get-away for those looking to have their own space to relax with waterfront views and a constant cool breeze. Walk out onto the deck that faces the bay - watch the sun rise over the water for breakfast or sit and relax in the chairs after a long day at the beach. The cottage comes furnished with dishes, cookware, 2 kayaks, and a queen sleeper couch for a child or guests.
I recently purchased this property after I stepped out on the deck and couldn't say no to the view and the relaxation that is intrinsic to this community. I currently live in South Boston and grew up outside just outside Boston so the Cape has always been familiar.
Liz Murdock purchased this cottage in 2015
I chose this cottage as a "home away from home" because of the proximity to the water and all that entails, as well as the centralized location to other great towns and adventures. The inside woodwork and craftsmanship feels a little bit like being on a boat and the simple, 'beachy' design makes it comfortable and not at all pretentious. The community, Hideaway Village, has a deep sense of belonging and welcoming - everyone is friendly and looks out for one another. It's a place that makes you never want to get back to the real world!
We enjoyed our trip this week in this cute little cottage with a great view. Nice breezes off the water! You need a GPS if you are not familiar with the area and roads. We would return again. Liz was great to work with regarding your rental time.
We had a wonderful time. We know the area very well and have stayed in hideaway village for several years. The rental is completely advertised accurately. Beautiful waterfront cozy cottage. All amenities as stated. We hope to come back next summer.
Just returned from my second weekly rental. It was even better than last year. This is a quaint little cottage with fantastic views of Buttermilk Bay. The cottage is clean and very nicely furnished. Told the hubby if I win the lottery, I would offer to buy this cottage!! The new AC is a wonderful addition in case the winds die down or to drown out the one neighbor who can be a bit loud. This was the only draw back to our stay. Owner is very nice and checked in on us twice to make sure things were good. I would highly recommend this place to a couple or small family looking for a nice beach house experience. Thanks Liz. We hope to come back!
We had a lovely time at the cottage this summer! We enjoyed staying in Buzzards Bay as it afforded us freedom to travel and explore the whole Cape while also being mostly out of the heavy tourist areas.
I would note that this cottage would be best suited to a group who all wishes to sleep at the same time, as when we stayed there was no divider between the bedroom and living area, so we had to be very careful and quiet after putting the children to sleep.
The sleeper sofa was quite comfy and waking up and being able to see straight out to the water was amazing!
The owner was responsive and reachable quickly by email. We would stay here again though would probably look for a slightly bigger space as our kids grow!
I'm going in September ! I'll let you know more--looking forward to it..owner is very easy to work with too.
My husband and I rented this cottage for our honeymoon. Perfect size for 2 people wanting a relaxing romantic getaway. The cottage is right on the water with beautiful views. The owner was also very friendly and helpful. She was a text or email away whenever if we needed to get in touch with her. Neighbors were very friendly and helpful as well. Would definitely recommend for couples looking for a nice and relaxing vacation.
This cottage is part of a welcoming community with direct access to the bay whether you want to set sail on two provided kayaks or relax in the sun on the private beach just steps from the cottage. There is a small playground and basketball net down the road as well.
Buzzards Bay is centrally located to so many exciting outdoor opportunities and activities. The businesses in town are eager to rent you a Stand Up Paddle board to take out on the bay, a bike to ride down to the Canal, or there's always Water Wizz to get the adrenaline going. If you're looking for a lower-key activity, there are many retailers in town who have the perfect antique keepsake to remind you of your time on the Cape. The weekly Bourne farmer's market, the National Marine Life Center, and a round of mini-golf are also popular ways to explore the immediate area.
There are lots of places to eat in Bourne. While seafood is the most obvious and delicious choice for this part of the world, there are also many great eateries that don't specialize in seafood (although still have it!) - Leo's for breakfast, Captain Al's for lunch, Ella's Wood Burning Oven for dinner, and Betty Ann's for a cone of soft serve.
Bourne also provides the perfect jumping-off point for exploring all the Cape has to offer. You can catch the ferry for Martha's Vineyard or Nantucket in less than 30 minutes, and reach the famous Cape Cod National Seashore in less than an hour. There are local breweries, drive-in movies, vineyards and old-timey band concerts all across the Cape. Heading west, Newport, Block Island, and Providence are all within an hour's drive. You really can do it all from Bourne!
