About Liz Murdock
I purchased this property after I stepped out on the deck and couldn't say no to the view and the relaxation that is intrinsic to this community. I currently live in South Boston and grew up outside just outside Boston so the Cape has always been familiar.
Liz Murdock purchased this Cottage in 2015
Why Liz Murdock chose Buzzards Bay
I chose this cottage as a "home away from home" because of the proximity to the water and all that entails, as well as the centralized location to other great towns and adventures. The inside woodwork and craftsmanship feels a little bit like being on a boat and the simple, 'beachy' design makes it comfortable and not at all pretentious. The community, Hideaway Village, has a deep sense of belonging and welcoming - everyone is friendly and looks out for one another. It's a place that makes you never want to get back to the real world!

Great Cottage on the beach and Plenty of things to do in the cape cod area. The owner is very quick to respond to any questions you may have and her welcome package/ instructions are very helpful to get you settled in and plan your days.
I'm so glad you found the cottage welcoming and a jumping off point for all kinds of Cape exploration (and beyond!). There is a lot of ground to cover and I'm happy you were pleased with this small piece of home. Please come again!
Perfect location, cute little cottage!
This cottage was perfect for a relaxing week in Cape Cod. There is a beautiful view of the bay and it’s the perfect spot to get beach time without crowds of people. It’s an hour or so from Provincetown. Lots of great hiking and kayaking spots in the surrounding areas! The only downside was not being able to bring my dog.
Thanks, Mara! It sounds like you really took advantage of all the fun things to do and natural resources during your time away. You were a pleasure to host!
Amazing wedding week on the water!!
Thank you so much for sharing your lovely beach house with me on the most important week of my life! It was so relaxing and beautiful! We made so many memories spending time with friends and family at the cottage and loved the beach and the kayaks. Liz was super accommodating and communicative every step of the way and made this stay stress free! We can't wait to come back here and relive all of our wonderful memories. Thanks again, Liz!!!
We enjoyed our stay at this cottage. It was clean and minimally
tastefully decorated which is exactly what I want in in a rental. I hate
places that are cluttered with so much taste specific junk that normally
I just would hide in a closet so I don't see. Simple and lovely.
I appreciated the selections of books, magazines and dvds that were
there. The owner has good taste. The deck was a beautiful place to sit in the
morning to enjoy the view of the water. Again, clean and neat and taken
The only drawback to our stay and I hate to mention it, was the
large group next door, loud and very close and foul language impossible
to ignore, lasting late into the night. They should be more considerate of others. We spent much of the time going on day trips around the Cape, so the neighbors didn't impact us as much as expected.
Overall the cottage was a very pleasant
Liz was also very responsive to all texts and calls, making this an easy, relaxing trip. Thank you so much for the opportunity to spend a weekend with my mom!
Hi Catherine, I'm so glad you had a comfortable and relaxing stay with your mom. It was a beautiful weekend to lay low and do some exploring around the Cape. I'm sorry to hear that the people next door caused some disruption. It's a lovely cottage neighborhood with an overwhelmingly positive and friendly community which it sounds like you enjoyed!
cozy comfortable with a great view
would recommend to a couple who are agile and not over 6'2''. walls slant and you would hit your head often. Great location with friendly people who live next door. plenty to do with great restaurants near by a car is a must. liz the owner is a sweetheart. make sure you get good directions and you will have a wonderful stay.
Thanks for your feedback and I'm glad you had a good stay! The cottage is a special place with unique characteristics that may not be the right fit for everyone but I like to think that the charm of the space - and the waterfront views - are a real asset. I hope to see you again next summer!
Cute little cottage on the water
We enjoyed our trip this week in this cute little cottage with a great view. Nice breezes off the water! You need a GPS if you are not familiar with the area and roads. We would return again. Liz was great to work with regarding your rental time.
Thanks so much! I've added directions to the renter packet so hopefully that helps those who might get turned around. But yes, GPS is a sure bet :) I'm so happy you had a nice stay!
This cottage is part of a welcoming community with direct access to the bay whether you want to set sail on two provided kayaks or relax in the sun on the beach just steps from the cottage. There is a small playground and basketball net down the road as well. Buzzards Bay is centrally located to so many exciting outdoor opportunities and activities. The businesses in town are eager to rent you a Stand Up Paddle board to take out on the bay, a bike to ride down to the Canal, or there's always Water Wizz to get the adrenaline going. If you're looking for a lower-key activity, there are many retailers in town who have the perfect antique keepsake to remind you of your time on the Cape. The weekly Bourne farmer's market, the National Marine Life Center, and a round of mini-golf are also popular ways to explore the immediate area. There are lots of places to eat in Bourne. While seafood is the most obvious and delicious choice for this part of the world, there are also many great eateries that don't specialize in seafood (although still have it!) - Leo's for breakfast, Captain Al's for lunch, Ella's Wood Burning Oven for dinner, and Betty Ann's for a cone of soft serve. Bourne also provides the perfect jumping-off point for exploring all the Cape has to offer. You can catch the ferry for Martha's Vineyard or Nantucket in less than 30 minutes, and reach the famous Cape Cod National Seashore in less than an hour. There are local breweries, drive-in movies, vineyards and old-timey band concerts all across the Cape. Heading west, Newport, Block Island, and Providence are all within an hour's drive. You really can do it all from Bourne!
