Great Cabin Experience!

  • 5 of 5

Everything was great except for a couple of things. The Cabin looks really nice, everything in the kitchen was nice, and the rec barn was nice. The only couple of issues, which weren't major, were that the mattresses were not the most comfortable and that not all of the jets in the hot tub worked- only some of them worked.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review - we're glad you enjoyed your stay at Logan's Retreat! We do have high-quality mattresses, but understand everyone has their own comfort level. For future guests: if you're not sure how to turn on the hot tub jets, please call us from the free landline provided in the cabin. Individual jets can be turned off manually, and sometimes guests aren't sure how to turn them back on (by manually turning them) after previous guests have turned them off. We hope to see you again at Logan's Retreat!

Great little getaway

  • 5 of 5

Cabin was very clean and comfortable. They have a great rec barn so lots to do so you don't have to leave property if you don't want too and even if weather goes bad things to do. We didn't spend too much time at cabin as we were in area for Ohio University Homecoming weekend.

Beautiful property. Lots of fun in the hot tub and the rec barn!

  • 5 of 5

Showed up Friday evening and the place was clean and beautiful! Enjoy the hot tub and ordered pizza in. The next day we just enjoyed the rec barn and the beautiful view of the front porch! We also drove to Hocking Hills dining lodge and had a delicious dinner!

My overall impression is I had a good Valentines weekend stay but it could have been better.

  • 3 of 5

My impressions were as follows, Vickers Rd. where the property is was a bit rough in spots. Specifically the trailer directly in front of the rental was in very poor shape and looked abandoned yet the door was hanging open the entire weekend, it was a bit unnerving especially if one were to let their imagination run away with them. The driveway up to the property from the road was fairly steep, just FYI. The only gripe about appearances of the property was inside the garage was messy and unorganized with alot of rodent droppings in the corner though we never saw any rodents or any signs of them other than that. The amenities were perhaps my biggest negative issue. The fireplace didn't work which on a blistering cold Valentines weekend was one of my must have amenities. The telescope also did not work and according to a log inside the rental others had previously complained of this as well, so it wasn't a new thing. Of course we were only planning on using it if we had some extra time and better weather, neither of which really materialized. The hot tub worked and was nice and hot but some of the jets were not working, my girlfriend and I actually had to rotate in and out of one corner to take advantage of the pressure the jets provide. The garage was really nice to have what with the cold weather and snow at the time but there was no remote garage opener and so I had to pull out of the garage, go back in and push the button to close it and then run out of the garage ducking under the closing door, fortunately I am 5' 10" and not 6' 1" or that might have gotten trickier. Couldn't get any pay per view movies because we needed a code which wasn't handy. And while my girlfriend had no issues I had a problem with my phone signal and I have Verizon, I had to walk outside of the cabin to get any kind of signal. Now for the pros. The rental itself was quite nice in appearance overall matching or even exceeding the pictures on the site here. The cabin was fully stocked with enough kitchen supplies for any meal we would wanna make likewise with bathroom supplies. The entertainment room was nice and fully stocked. Ann Morris was a pleasure to work with on the pre-visit calls I made to her, I never called while I was there. Bottom line for me was the property itself was nice but the fireplace really put a hamper on our visit but we still had a nice quiet stay. I would visit again due to price assuming the amenities are in working order.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your candid review of our property. I'm happy you chose us for your Hocking Hills stay and would like to return, but I'm dismayed to learn you experienced some issues while staying at our cabin. We work very hard to try to offer our guests a fantastic experience and will use your feedback to make Logan's Retreat even better. While I certainly understand your frustration, I'm also curious: did you consider calling us during your stay to address the issues? Specifically, we could have told you how to turn on the fireplace and how to adjust the hot tub jets. I realize it's inconvenient to have to make such a call, but I do wish we had the opportunity to help make your stay more appealing, especially since the fireplace and hot tub are fully functional. In addition, the cabin is equipped with central heating (and AC). The cabin has a free landline so you can reach us any time if you have any issues at all. Some of the issues you cited are beyond our control (Hocking Hills is hilly, hence the steep driveway, and we have no control over the roads leading to the property), but for the others we likewise could have provided assistance or at least answered your questions. For example, if the telescope batteries were dead we could have sent someone out with a fresh pack. Also, we do not list pay-per-view as an amenity, and Verizon does not have good service in the Hocking Hills area (though, as noted, we do provide a landline phone in the cabin, and alternative apps can be used with the cabin WiFi to make calls). The "mouse droppings" in the garage, upon inspection, were some dead ladybugs our cleaners have since removed. We do not provide a remote garage door opener as it's likely guests would forget it's in their vehicles; however, the garage does have two exterior doors that make walking under the large door unnecessary. The trailer you mentioned is at the bottom of the large roadfront hill, outside our 4+ acre property, and cannot be seen from the cabin itself or from the back portion of the property (which is the largest portion). I would be happy to share photos of the view from the cabin with anyone who is concerned about this trailer. Thank you, again, for choosing Logan's Retreat and for your review. We'd love the opportunity to host you again!
