Originally built in the 1970's by local artists, Aisling Lakehouse is made up of 3 gorgeous and connected Cottage Suites. Step inside and be amazed at the creative touches throughout!
The Knotty Pine Suite has loads of rustic charm. The living-room/dining-room/kitchen are open-concept and feature a charming gas fireplace. 150 year old barn-board cabinets and trim adorn throughout this unit. A gnarly wood banister leads up to the upper level master bedroom. Adjacent to the master bedroom is small room which is ideal for a nursery or a single person in the twin bed. The front entrance has a gorgeous screened-in porch. You'll enjoy relaxing on the porch swing, or reading books in the comfy couches and chairs beside the garden. Warning: Peaceful naps may result! The side entrance has a large deck and barbeque, with propane provided.
The Honeymoon Suite is so romantic and charming. The unit features a gas fireplace with field stone backdrop from floor to 2nd floor ceiling. The main-floor bathroom has a deep soaker heart-shaped tub and a separate shower stall. The main floor bedroom has a double-single bunk bed. There is a gnarly limb banister going up to the master bedroom loft, which overlooks the fireplace in the living room. The master bedroom in the Honeymoon suite just might be oru favourite! It's high ceiling, great light and cozy sitting areas make you feel like you're in paradise! There is an optional futon bed for extra sleeping space. The front entrance shares in the luxurious 45 foot screened in porch with the Knotty pine suite...where your only decision will be whether or not to bring out a tea or coffee! A large deck off of the living-room faces the lake – great for viewing sunsets over Aikman Lake and for enjoying use of your BBQ, with propane provided.
The Country Classic Suite is such a great space for your group to gather together and enjoy a "traditional" cottage night playing boardgames around the table or singing at the fireplace. This spacious cottage features a sunken living-room with a stunning fieldstone, gas fireplace. The kitchen/dining-room overlooks the living-room. There is a beautiful antique wood-burning cook stove that accents the kitchen (embrace your pioneer spirit and give it a try....it does have a conventional range and stove as well for those of you who are less trusting of your pioneer cooking skills). Two bathrooms and two bedrooms are on the main level: one is a 2 piece powder room with Mexican ceramic tile flooring; the other is a 3 piece with a large glass-enclosed walk-in shower that is encompassed by Spanish limestone tile. The second storey has a large landing which has been turned into a semi private room with a queen bed. A large family suite features an 3 piece bathroom with a two-person Jacuzzi tub, 1 queen bed and 2-3 twin beds as needed. This unit has a main floor deck which faces the lake at the front and a screened-in porch with a deck that faces the rear of the property.
All of the cottage suites are connected so that your group can flow between 3 seamlessly (or be locked off....if you want some extra privacy!) The kids will love looking for the secret passages that connect the cottages in unexpected ways.
All Cottages include indoor bath towels, bed linens, pillows, fully equipped kitchens, Satellite TV & DVD players and access to 9 person outdoor hot tub in a screened-in gazebo, barbecues and laundry facilities. There is also free wifi-well cottage style wifi- so bring your patience and try to unplug for the week (It's good for checking email). Enjoy full access to the canoes, kayaks and rowboat (lifejackets provided for all sizes and ages). Fun for all.
In the winter, the cottages are heated with central heating and each has their own gas fireplace that allows you to ensure you keep cozy on those quiet, relaxing winter nights. Nearby are recreational trails for cross country skiing, snowmobiling, atv-ing, or just explore the private grounds of Aisling Lakehouse or the thousands of acres of crown land across the lake!
The cottage is set on a large hill overlooking the lake and facing south west(great sunsets from the deck!). In order to get down to the lake there is a quick 30-60 second walk down the hill. The beachfront has a large sandy area that is great for the kids to play in. There is a large granite rock that sticks out from the shore to make a tiny in-water beach area for splashing around. After about 4 feet it drops off to about 3-4 feet dept, so little ones should be watched closely. The lake is soft bottom so we recommend swimming and not walking(unless you like the goo between your toes!) unless you have on water shoes. There is a very large dock that has held many weddings over the years. It's a great place to sit on the water. 2 ladders enter the lake from the dock, where the water can be between 4-10 feet deep, depending on the time of year. There is only 1 other cottage on the lake so you will love the privacy that this affords your group. Our family has a private dock at another area of the shoreline to offer your group as much privacy as possible.
The fisherman in your group will not be disappointed with the bass, perch and catfish that come out of Aikman Lake! The kids will love the sunfish! Listen to the loons, watch the beavers working on their lodge, try to find one of our many turtles or jump in the lake...all great options down at the water.
Outdoors you will definitely want to spend time in the 9 person, screened in hot tub! If you somehow have worries left over after your day at the cottage, they will soak away in here. Adjacent to the hot tub is a beautifully built firepit area, with all of the rocks hand selected from the woods at Aisling Lakehouse! It doesn't get more custom than this! Another lakeside firepit allows you to enjoy the bright stars and stillness of a lake night. Firewood is sold onsite by our entrepreneurial children as well as local, handmade soaps and all natural bath salts and bug spray.
Amazing memories, cozy cottages and all the comforts of home.
We(owners) live on site to make sure you have a great time at the lake and are happy to make recommendations for local activities.
Our small family of 4 (plus 2 dogs and 1 cat) is happy to host you at our cottage retreat that we are grateful to call home! We love cottage living and are looking forward to letting you enjoy life at the lake. Our goal is to make this feel like your home and provide you with privacy during your vacation stay. We are happy to give you a quick tour on arrival, but hope that you will have all you need to enjoy your independence during your stay!

As you traverse our long (1.5km) driveway you will hopefully feel the amazing peace surround you as you get closer to the cottages. The private lake, serene property and gorgeous cottages just blew us away when we first saw it! We are so excited to share this rare jewel with you. Truly a Muskoka experience not to be missed!
Only 2 hours from Toronto and 10 minutes from Parry Sound. We have an excellent space for large groups that don't want to be at a huge resort with hundreds of other people. Our quiet lake is only broken up the sound of you jumping in! So relax on the dock, or in the hot tub knowing that you won't be disturbed.
Aisling Lakehouse is completely secluded and private, yet close enough to town to enjoy a hot Starbucks coffee on the dock! The best of both worlds!
Only 2 hours north of Toronto, The Sundog Retreat offers privacy on a beautiful, peaceful lake.
We have 3 beautiful cottages that can be rented separately in the off season or together during the summer.
Nearby Parry Sound offers luxurious Georgian Bay cruises, all season ATV trail use, fishing, kayak and canoe tours and an amazing music festival!
You can enjoy hiking the nearby recreational trails, relaxing on the dock, mountain biking through the woods and exploring via canoe or kayak.
Try to find our 100 year old Snapping Turtle that lives in Aikman Lake and join the rare club of guests who have seen him! Listen for the bullfrogs at night and the crack of the beaver's tail against the tranquil waters. If you are lucky enough, you may spot our elusive Moose who leaves his tracks but is never seen. Hummingbirds frequent the decks of the cottages to enjoy sweet treats from the bird feeders.
Relax by the crackling fireplaces in all of the cottage suites, great for warming up in winter after your snowshoeing and cross country skiing adventures! After a long day of adventures, be sure to take a long soak in the screened-in, nine person hot tub, benefit from the therapeutic effects of hot water.
Fishing is great right off the dock, or venture by canoe or kayak to the south end of the lake near the beaver dam to catch a small mouth bass, trout, or perch.
The kids will have fun catching minnows and counting frogs right at the shore, while building sand castles in the sand along the shore. Deep and shallow entry allow for all ages to have fun! Make sure to try out the floating dock to get a great view of the surrounding forest.
Marvel at the radiant fall colors and allow the clean, crisp, unpolluted air to refresh and rejuvenate your soul!
