About Tim Harper

I Worked in wholesale seafood for the last 35 years. I own Southwest Lobster in Southwest Harbor and the Scallop Fishing Vessel Dictator.

Tim Harper purchased this house in 1995

Why Tim Harper chose Sullivan

Built this property for my kids when they were small, we went swimming fishing snowmobiling four wheeling and a lot of relaxing. hope you can make use of the Sunrise Trail a 80 mile railroad bed for the public to use for Quards or bicycles, hiking or Snowmobiles

I have some of my Great Grandfather tools, sea chest, he was a sea Captain(John Latty) that sailed a four mast schooner all over the world. I remember him when I was very small and have read some story's of his travels.

What makes this house unique

love watching the sunrise make sure you do at least one and bring your camera.

there is a loon's nest on the shore to the right Ive been watching the mom with the baby for the last month.

Great house for families with kids

  • 4 of 5

We loved this house... kayaking, swimming in the pond and paddle boarding .... driving to Acadia almost daily. A great spot for a family with young children.

Beautiful, secluded waterfront location

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 6 had a great time at this property. The house is very well-equipped for visitors. The location is gorgeous and private, but an easy 40 minute drive into Acadia. There is also lots to do and see close to the house-don't miss the Tidals Falls!

Comfortable, well-equipped home

  • 5 of 5

My family of five spent four nights at Camp Flanders in July. We loved that the home offered quiet solitude on the pond, yet all of the attractions of Acadia and Bar Harbor were an easy drive from camp. The home has everything you could need including a fully stocked kitchen and some interesting antique pieces. We most enjoyed steaming lobsters that we bought from a vendor down the road and kayaking/paddle boarding around the pond.

When you want to get away, this is the place!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I wanted to visit Acadia National Park, we also wanted to stay somewhere other than hotel. This was the place. The house was beautiful, and very well kept. The house was remote (2 miles off a dirt road), but it was exactly what we wanted. The house looks like a log cabin in the inside, and has an awesome wrap around porch. The views of the pond were amazing, especially at sunset. The decor on the inside was also a real treat with many fascinating features. Hearing the loons in the night was a perfect cap to a fun filled day. I would suggest if you plan on making dinner most nights, to bring your food with you. Food stores are a little off the beaten path. If you want to get away and relax - this is the place!

The owner, Tim Harper, was very accessible via email as I asked several questions about fishing and what the cabin was stocked with. Before we left, I had my family already asking when we could go back next year!

We had the best vacation ever!

  • 5 of 5

After driving from New Jersey and stopping in the Portland area to see lighthouses and eat at the Lobster Shack in Cape Elizabeth on Saturday, we spent our whole day Sunday relaxing on the lake, kayaking and barbecuing. Every other day of the week, we explored Acadia: biking the carriage roads, hiking up mountains, lounging on Sand Beach, whale watching, and shopping and exploring in Bar Harbor. We ended each day on the pond kayaking and sitting by the fire making smores or playing 500 rummy! We did not want to leave and we will surely be back again! Thank you for sharing your beautiful mountain getaway with us! We made lasting family memories and reconnected with nature, feeding our souls and renewing our spirits! We hope to rent again in the future!

Located on the pristine Flanders pond, the house offers the best of both worlds. If you are inclined to spending a quiet weekend by the lake, you can fish, kayak, do loon and eagle watching, sit by the fire and enjoy the beauty of nature surrounding you.

For those who prefer an active vacation, the area offers endless possibilities. An 85 mile Sunrise trail connected to the house will take you all the way to the Canadian border on your bicycle, ATV or snowmobile. The scenic Schoodic Point national park is right around the corner, and the world famous Acadia National Park is only a short 35 minute car ride away. The park provides opportunities for hiking, cycling, dining, swimming, etc. The town of Bar Harbor alone will keep you busy for an entire day with its multiple shops, bars, restaurants, and activities like whale and puffin watching, sea kayak tours, lobster fishing, etc. Two ferries leaving from South West Harbor and Bass Harbor will take you to Swans and Cranberry Islands, where you can learn about the long living traditions of Maine island life. The famous Maine lobster is served in most restaurants along the coast, along with other kinds of fresh seafood.

In case you bring your passports, Canada is only a couple of hours away. You can visit President Roosevelt's summer home and museum located on the beautiful Campobello Island.
