The free, town operated, shuttle bus service runs every 15 minutes within 100 yards of the Lodge; and allows guests to come and go all day long on their own schedule. Digital keyless entry allows for more convenience.
It is not unusual to see moose, bear, fox, deer, and raccoons; right outside the door or from the deck. Guests can easily make day trips to Vail, Aspen, Keystone, Beaver Creek, Arapahoe Basin, Loveland, Steamboat Springs, Crested Butte, and Copper Mountain; but there is so much terrain and variety at Breckenridge, Ski Area, that most guests do not wander too far.
Comcast Xfinity WiFi Internet, new in 2016, with speeds of 100Mbps provide exceptional internet speeds throughout the lodge; and allow for Netflix, Amazon, and Apple TV high speed downloads.
Smart-Eco Thermostats by Nest, manage temperature zones individually; while integrated smoke and CO2 detectors by Nest provide for added safety.
We have been snowboarding in Colorado at Vail, Aspen, Keystone, and Breckenridge since 2008; and have purchase our own home after enjoying many winter and summer vacations in the friendly and accessible town of Breckenridge; which has a very active, year round social community.
Scott McMullen purchased this lodge in 2015
This property is in an ideal location with great mountain sunrise views and sits atop a secluded meadow and pond. It gives our friends, family, and guests unique and easy access to our favorite areas of the Breckenridge Ski Resort at Peaks 6, 7, and 8; while allowing us to snowboard and ski at other areas nearby on our annual Epic Pass. It also allows us easy and reliable Breck Free Ride Bus service into town during the day and in the evenings, without having to take our own car.
This home is close to the mountain for winter or summer activities, yet close enough to town to walk. It is also within a two minute walk to the free shuttle service; yet it is situated on a private road with secluded views.
The historic gold mining town of Breckenridge was incorporated in 1859; and the quaint and fun little town is now home to art exhibitions, a summer concert series, ski and snowboarding competitions, an international winter ice sculpting competition; and dozens of other year round exhibitions and activities.
Mountain Meadow Lodge has ski in access from the Peak 8 Four O'Clock Run and ski out access on the same run to the Snowflake Chairlift which takes you to the top of the novice area at Peak 8; where you can choose between five chairlifts and the Gondola to move you around the mountain quickly. The Lodge is also within a two minute walk to the Ski Hill Road bus stop at the Nordic Ski and Snowshoe Center; with bus service that runs every 15 minutes for the 2 minute ride to the base of Peak 8, or the 2 minute ride to the base of Peak 7, or the 5 minute ride into the town of Breckenridge.
Although Breckenridge is famous for its incredible ski season which runs from November to April; the Summit County area is also an all year playground for mountain biking, rafting, zip lining, golf, hiking, and even summer dogsledding. Snowboarding at Arapahoe Basin in bikinis and outrageous costumes takes place in July and is more about drinking and live bands than anything else.
Gold mining towns of Leadville and Steamboat Springs, are easy day trips and the historic Durango & Silverton Railway trip is an unforgettable summer experience. White water rafting at Buena Vista is less than a two hour drive from "Breck" as it is known by the locals. Mountain Meadow Lodge is the perfect location from which to launch your countless Summit County adventures.
We booked the Mountain meadow lodge for ten days hoping to catch some much needed rest and witness the turning of the leaves as Co welcomed the fall season... Our only regret was to not have booked a longer stay.
The owners made the process very easy and we felt welcomed even before we stepped foot into the Meadow lodge.
The organization is impeccable, the house is easy to settle into and the "smart house" works for everyone from age 4 to "no limit".
We loved every aspect of our stay at the house, the lodge is incredible and the location is phenomenal, we parked the car and were able to enjoy all kinds of hikes directly from house, a short walk (literally 3 minutes) to the bus stop and the options open up, either up to catch the Gondolas or down for a short ride to the town center.
Good weather and you will find yourself enjoying a bbq and a soak in the hot tub, bad weather and the entertainment center at the house is there for an evening of Television or a fun time with all the toys and games provided by the owners... you love nature, just grab your coffee in the morning and wait for the Moose to come along, tired of the Moose? just wait a little longer and the white tail fox will come to pay his respects...
We loved it, we recommend it, we will return...
Overall the place was great! Rooms were nice, Foosball was fun, easy to get into town. Good stuff!
Perfect house for my family's stay over the 4th of July week in Breckenridge. House was very well stocked and is more impressive than the pictures show. Scott was a great host frequently checking in and addressing small issues. Great location as you feel deep in the woods but its only a nice 20 minute walk down to town or 5 minute drive. A ton of great extras like a wildlife alert that lets you know when the moose are out back. Our favorite part was the huge deck space with the hot tub, firepit, and plenty of seating for the entire family. We'll definitely be back!
Our family of 5 spent a wonderful week skiing and relaxing in this terrific home. The furniture was very comfortable, the house was clean, well maintained, and equipped with the basic necessities prior to our arrival; it had just about everything we needed, down to the extra boxes of tissues in the cupboards and the printer in the home office. We only needed to stock the fridge - no running to the store to buy dish detergent at the last minute. Wifi and Netflix were a plus, and the boot room/garage with the underfloor heating had a foosball table and offered extra play space for the kids. Location was great - although not on the slopes, it was still an easy walk to/from the slopes - very close to the Nordic Center, and a short ride to town. We had a midnight flight back to DC and Scott went above and beyond and accommodated our request for a later check out time, which was ideal as it gave some of us an extra ski day and the rest of us were able to use the fab hot tub one last time while watching the foxes play in the snow below us. It was truly one of the most accommodating holiday rental homes we have stayed in. Highly recommend! Thank you for sharing your home with us!
Great house! Garage is the best place to store your ski gear and dry your boots. Hot tub was awesome, kitchen was well stocked and there was plenty of everything sonthat we were all comfortable. We would definitely rent this house again!
We are 4 adults with 6 children under 14 and stayed at this home for 14 days during the March 2016 ski season.
The lodge sits above a secluded meadow on a game trail and we saw wildlife every day; including a mother moose and calf.
The home was very well organized with an entry/game room with Foosball, electric boot warmers for 12 sets of boots, ski racks, snowboard racks, two clothes racks, two change benches, a bar, a game table, puzzles, and individual storage drawers (named after reindeer?). The kitchen was very organized, with every drawer and cupboard labeled; and we found every appliance and utensil that we could think of. The home had an automatic Roomba vacuum cleaner that vacuumed every day, smartphone chargers everywhere, and an integrated Google Nest thermostat/ceiling fan/ smoke detector system.
The deck had a great view as well as a big hot tub, BBQ, outdoor gas fire pit, and new outdoor furniture. There were 5 TV's in the home, 2 separate living areas with gas fireplaces, portable humidifiers and heaters in each bedroom, and crazy fast internet.
There was a second outdoor deck, but we did not use it.
We chose to ride the 4 minutes on the bus in the morning to get to the mountain and then skiied in every afternoon on "Four O'Clock Run"; but we could have skiied out to the "Snowflake" chairlift in the morning.
You can only see one home from the lodge, so it feels like you are in the wilderness; especially with moose and fox around all day.
We are working on our dates for next year to book a 14 day stay agaIn.
The Lodge is set at the edge of a private, protected meadow with a small natural pond that attracts moose, deer, fox, and bear.
