About the property

2 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom, Sleeps 6

Enjoy the breeze and view from this light-filled cabin on top of a ridge. Walk to trail in the NC Wildlife Game Lands or just enjoy strolling around the gravel roads of our neighborhood, Piney Mountain -- keep an eye out for deer, birds and other wildlife. Many trails, waterfalls and outdoor adventures in the nearby area and we're happy to tell you about the ones we've tried (The Gorge zip line!).

The log cabin sits on a 4.25-acre wooded lot that provides privacy. Enjoy a beautiful mountain view year round and 360 degree winter mountain views. Whether you're looking for some family time or a chance to connect with friends, this place has been set up to accommodate. Floor plan is open with a bedroom and bathroom on each level. Hang out on one of the porches or deck, watch a movie in the loft from the growing collection, grab a book, or choose a fun board game. The house is set up to make you so comfortable you won't want to leave.

But if you choose to venture out and explore, historic downtown Saluda is about a 10 minute drive and is really charming with excellent food, art and live music. There are lots of day-trip options including:

Sky Top Orchard, Zirconia - 20 min.

Hendersonville - 20 min.

Tryon International Equestrian Center - 25 min.

Lake Lure - 30 min.

Asheville - 35 min.

Chimney Rock - 40 min.

"The mountains are calling, and I must go." - John Muir

Note: The roads within our development are gravel and our driveway is fairly steep. In the case of wintry weather it is possible that you could have trouble getting up the driveway without 4WD.

Favorite Mountain Retreat

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a great time at this location. We have been here before and found ourselves staying at the cabin more than we did before. We did take in some kayaking, hiking, site seeing, and of course the Coon Dog Day Events but were home more than we thought we would be. The home was very clean as before and the view somehow seemed better. The kitchen had everything we needed for prepping our meals.

The front porch rockers offered a great escape from the group for a quieter setting for catching up with friends and family. The back porch with the amazing view was also great for lounging around and watching the rain come across the mountain.

As for the operators of the cabin, she is just great. We dealt with several others over the years and she is the best at returning emails and phone calls promptly. We have not had any problems which needed quick attention but I know that she would be there if something came up. This is a definite must try if you're looking for a great mountaintop experience. We are already trying to get our dates for apple picking season coming up in the Fall.

thank you Allison for sharing your home with my family again this year. We can't wait for our Fall and next Summers request to be approved.

Gorgeous Mountain View’s

  • 4 of 5

The cabin was beautiful and the views were priceless! Our favorite spot inside the house was sitting on the couch in the loft taking in the sunrise and sunset each day. Great location to be near many towns for day trips for shopping and eating as well as hiking.

Beautiful secluded cabin with great view!

  • 5 of 5

I can't say enough about this cabin and it's owner, Alison! The cabin is beautifully clean and well stocked, and has the best quality furniture I've ever seen in a rental mountain cabin. The king bed downstairs had a perfect, plush mattress and all three beds had beautiful bedding(can't comment on the other beds' mattresses, since I didn't sleep on them). Kitchen was fully stocked with any utensil needed and more. The fire pit was excellent, and it has a HUGE screened in porch with hammock and eating area, and an even larger deck, both with a beautiful view of the mountains. They have also taken extra measure to make this cabin both kid-friendly and dog-friendly--from the dog bed, to the bed child safety rails, it was so comforting. We will definitely stay again!

As a side note, we booked this cabin last minute to evacuate from hurricane Irma in September 2017, and Alison was very friendly and generous with us, and the rental price remained the same while most other rental owners price-gouged to take advantage of desperate evacuees. Thank you, Alison! We won't forget your kindness!

Beautiful Cabin, Spectacular Views

  • 4 of 5

My sister and I and our respective spouses spent a wonderful month at Piney Overlook cabin. The cabin itself is breathtaking; one doesn't see wood beams like that very often. The stairs up to the loft level must be 4 inches thick. Everything worked well and the kitchen was stocked with all needed pots and pans, dishes, utensils, etc. The view of the mountains was ever-present no matter where we sat--my favorite spot was on the deck in back of an evening with a glass of wine. The drive back to the cabin from Highway 26 is a bit tedious, but in no way frightening. The driveway up the hill to the cabin needed attention because of the heavy rains and was being fixed after we left. We enjoyed trips into Saluda and Hendersonville and the hike to Pearson's Falls, as well as trips further off to Pisgah National Forest near Brevard.
