Overview

About the property

2 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom, Sleeps 6

Enjoy the breeze and view from this light-filled cabin on top of a ridge. Walk to trail in the NC Wildlife Game Lands or just enjoy strolling around the gravel roads of our neighborhood, Piney Mountain -- keep an eye out for deer, birds and other wildlife. Many trails, waterfalls and outdoor adventures in the nearby area and we're happy to tell you about the ones we've tried (The Gorge zip line!).

The log cabin sits on a 4.25-acre wooded lot that provides privacy. Enjoy a beautiful mountain view year round and 360 degree winter mountain views. Whether you're looking for some family time or a chance to connect with friends, this place has been set up to accommodate. Floor plan is open with a bedroom and bathroom on each level. Hang out on one of the porches or deck, watch a movie in the loft from the growing collection, grab a book, or choose a fun board game. The house is set up to make you so comfortable you won't want to leave.

But if you choose to venture out and explore, historic downtown Saluda is about a 10 minute drive and is really charming with excellent food, art and live music. There are lots of day-trip options including:

Sky Top Orchard, Zirconia - 20 min.

Hendersonville - 20 min.

Tryon International Equestrian Center - 25 min.

Lake Lure - 30 min.

Asheville - 35 min.

Chimney Rock - 40 min.

"The mountains are calling, and I must go." - John Muir

Note: The roads within our development are gravel and our driveway is fairly steep. In the case of wintry weather it is possible that you could have trouble getting up the driveway without 4WD.

Favorite Mountain Retreat

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a great time at this location. We have been here before and found ourselves staying at the cabin more than we did before. We did take in some kayaking, hiking, site seeing, and of course the Coon Dog Day Events but were home more than we thought we would be. The home was very clean as before and the view somehow seemed better. The kitchen had everything we needed for prepping our meals.

The front porch rockers offered a great escape from the group for a quieter setting for catching up with friends and family. The back porch with the amazing view was also great for lounging around and watching the rain come across the mountain.

As for the operators of the cabin, she is just great. We dealt with several others over the years and she is the best at returning emails and phone calls promptly. We have not had any problems which needed quick attention but I know that she would be there if something came up. This is a definite must try if you're looking for a great mountaintop experience. We are already trying to get our dates for apple picking season coming up in the Fall.

thank you Allison for sharing your home with my family again this year. We can't wait for our Fall and next Summers request to be approved.

Comfortable cabin, well stocked.

  • 5 of 5

The cabin has a beautiful view of the mountains from the back living area windows. It is comfortably furnished and well stocked with little extras that may have been forgotten. It's located about 15 minutes outside of Saluda and 45 minutes outside of Asheville. Fun activities close by as well as activities within easy traveling distance in Asheville. We saw several deer, 3 of which were very close to the cabin, the others on the road to the cabin.

Remote Beauty

  • 4 of 5

Alison was a great hostess. Always tried to make things better for us. The house is beautifully decorated and well supplied. It has a rustic feel. Towels and linen first class. The view is special. Mountains in the distance. The place is six miles of twisting roads from the nearest civilization, so it really is remote. It's in a large community where each owner has acreage. We would recommend the place to anyone who wants to get away from it all.

Great cabin!

  • 4 of 5

This is a great place to relax and enjoy the wonderful view of the mountains. The cabin is lovely with very comfortable beds and all the necessary kitchen items you need for a refreshing getaway. Close to Saluda which is a wonderful town and would be easy to get to many other locations/attractions in the area. We just enjoyed spending time away and visiting with our adult children since they were able to join us for part of the weekend. We would love to visit again.
