About Tim Salzman

My work has taken me to many places. There are so many wonderful places and interesting people, it always amazes me. But I am always happy when the plane lands at YHZ and taxies to the gate - for me Nova Scotia is the best place of all.

Tim Salzman purchased this house in 2014

Why Tim Salzman chose Nova Scotia

I live down the road on the other side of the cove. I have always been fascinated with Feltzen South. Driving down the Ovens hill and seeing Lunenburg Harbour emerge from the woods still gives me the feeling of awe at the natural beauty.

When the 705 property came on the market we knew we had to have it. Little did we know at the time it would be completely rebuilt from the foundation up - but the result is stunning.

What makes this house unique

This house is steps from the Spindler's beach, with beautiful views of Lunenburg to the West and the open ocean to the East. The area is quiet and peaceful and the Feltzen South road is an amazing place to walk or ride your bike, as it hugs the shore line.

The house is newly constructed and furnished with new beds, furniture, TVs, linens, etc.

The large TV room has a barn door to close it off from the main living area, effectively making it a third bedroom with two single folding memory foam beds.

Fabulous Vacation

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is beautifully appointed and was a very comfortable place from which to explore the beauty of the South Shore. The Blue Nose II was in Lunenburg during our stay and sailed by as we enjoyed our morning coffee on the front deck. We enjoyed exploring the sea caves at the Ovens and had a very nice lunch there. The farmers market at Lunenberg was wonderful as was exploring Mahone Bay. Best chowder was at Rebecca's in Mahone Bay, best scallops were at the Fish Shack in Lunenberg. If you take the Lahave ferry to explore Lahave be sure to eat at the Lahave bakery and drive your car on Crescent beach. You can dig in the sand for sand dollars at Sand Dollar Beach and hunt for sea glass on just about every beach in the area. A vacation and a retreat all in one. We can't wait to come back later in the season when the water is warmer.

Exceptional property!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this property for two weeks and didn't want to leave! It's that perfect a spot. It is ideally located to explore Lunenburg and the south shore. The property is extremely clean and well equipped - the owners have thought of every convenience. Beds are super comfortable, view is lovely and we enjoyed a daily visit from deer and the lovely sound of birds amidst a very peaceful setting. We really enjoyed our beach walks searching for and finding sea glass! We highly recommend booking this property and would gladly return for an even longer stay!

great way to end the summer

  • 5 of 5

Great place to stay. Everything you could ask for by the beach.

The trip on the Bluenose was a highlight for us, but make sure you book an afternoon sailing and book two months in advance.

The ovens restaurant has fantastic music from 8 to 10 pm. A complete surprise to our friends and ourselves.

Thanks again Tim and Rachel.

Will never forget our stay here

  • 5 of 5

Where to begin? Tim and his wife have created an amazing vacation home. They have thought of EVERYTHING. They are meticulous and clearly take pride in this home. If you are a neat/clean freak like myself, you will approve 110%. Everything was immaculate. No details are spared. You have everything you need and then some -- my only suggestion (and this lends itself to the neat freak mentality) is to perhaps consider installing foot cleaning station outside the side door. Our feet were often covered in sand and we hand to b-line on our heels to the shower.

This is a beautiful home. Incredible beds, fluffy white towels, 3 decks to choose from, killer sunset view from bedrooms, 3 flat screen TVs, pristine dishes, glassware and pots and pans.

- great assortment of board games, local art and literature and current magazines

- superb cots and bedding for the kids

- an amazing bath tub

- complimentary bag of very tasty coffee

- food basics like sugar, flour, baking powder, spices, vanilla

- nice laundry room with detergent and softener provided

- option to hang clothes on clothesline, which is actually a very pleasant activity if you've never tried it.

- quiet, charming stretch with old homes, fishing huts, Spindler's beach etc...

- great recommendations for Lunenburg restaurants. We enjoyed the lobster bun at South Shore Fish Shack, the Lunenburger at Grand Banker and fresh scallops from Corkumsthat we enjoyed on a bed of lemony Swiss chard bought at the amazing Lunenburg Farmer's Market.

As we pulled out of the driveway on our last day, I thought to myself -- We *must* return here one day.

A delightful home in a wonderful area

  • 5 of 5

What a fabulous place to stay. The owner met us on arrival and walked us through the house. We were amazed at how new the building was with features that were modern, clean and very comfortable. The kitchen appliances were new and the cabinets were stocked with every pot, pan and appliance we needed. The bathrooms were clean with shower and tub upstairs and plenty of space. The bed in the master bedroom was very comfortable a this was the only bedroom we used. The dining room and living room both looked out towards Lunnenburg Harbor with comfortable furniture. The entertainment room has surround sound with plenty of DVDs and very comfortable furniture. The temperature in the building was easily modified and the bedrooms and family room had the latest in heat pump/AC which could be separately controlled. We had no building issues during our 8 day stay. The owner gave us clear written instructions with phone numbers if we needed anything. We enjoyed the location across the harbor from Lunnenburg which gave use the opportunity to explore other areas. The three decks with comfortable chairs/lounges provided sun at any time in the day. The owner provided contacts for purchasing seafood and was pleasant and helpful when he met us the first day. We were left alone to enjoy the home and only reconnected with the owner when it was time to check out. We would highly recommend this for anyone looking for a special vacation in the Lunenburg area in a very special home.

This area is amazing. The house is across from the active Feltzen South Wharf, which is right at the end of Spindler's beach - a local favourite for beautiful views and finding sea glass. A two minute walk from the house gets you onto the beach. Take a walk along the quiet Feltzen South road which runs along the ocean and enjoy wonderful views of Lunenburg across the Bay.

The house is about 3 KM from the Ovens Natural Park, with breathtaking sea caves, hiking trails, ocean cliffs, festivals and kayaking.

A five minute drive takes you to Sand Dollar Beach - the best place to find Sand Dollars. It's also where you will find the warmest water in the area due to the shallow nature of the bay. Oxner's and Hirtle's beaches are both 10 minutes away. Hirtle's is a stunning 3 km stretch of beach that leads onto a spectacular hike around Gaff Point. Oxner's is more private and located at the mouth of the LaHave.

The LaHave cable ferry is about 10 minutes away. Across the river you will find the popular LaHave Bakery and Risser's Beach.

A 10 minute drive takes you into Lunenburg, a UNESCO world heritage site and one of Nova Scotia's oldest permanent settlements. Famous for it's historic architecture, restaurants and home of the Bluenose II.

Mahone Bay, another popular historic town is only 30 minutes away.

The Rose Bay general store is licensed, sells local products, has a small restaurant, and is conveniently located less than 5 minutes away.
