About The Owner

My father grandfather and myself built this house during summer vacations and extended weekends. It was always a great relief to turn down Bluewater Dr. and leave the stress behind. Our family will still spend weeks at a time, enjoying the beautiful water and scenery of Mullett Lake. So please come relax, and leave the hustle and bustle of your daily lives behind, you will now be on lake time.

The Owner purchased this house in 1978

Why The Owner chose Mullett Lake

This has been a family home since 1978 when we built it.

What makes this house unique

Located on the east side of Mullett Lake there is generally a prevailing breeze that comes across the water. The benefit of this is generally no bugs and no need for central air. This is a large home located on a dead end street which receives very little traffic as we are located at the end. The large screened in porch makes for a wonderful entertainment area and family dining. Located 7 miles from the town of Indian River, 1/2 hour from beautiful Petoskey and a 1/2 hour to Mackinaw, makes it a good starting point for many day trips on your N. Michigan adventure. If your a golfer there a plenty of top notch public courses.

Excellent vacation rental for larger families

  • 5 of 5

We just spent a week in July enjoying every minute of our extended family vacation. The house has plenty of room as described, allowing each family their own space and privacy. The family room, basement and screened in porch provides ample room to spread out in the evenings, while the large deck and dock gives places for sun or shade during the day. Bring your own hammocks and tie off between the trees, or rent the pontoon and enjoy the quiet lake. The house is located in calmer area of Mullett Lake which is perfect for a leisurely cruise.

Everything about the home was as advertised. The owners were great and provided instructions so there weren't many unknowns. Each bedroom had a ceiling fan and there were multiple box fans available to use as well.

A couple tips if you should rent: an extension cord so you can position a lamp in the screened porch for late night card playing would be wise. Water shoes are a must for little ones. Rope to tie off floatable toys to the dock. The full kitchen has all your dish/pan/utensil needs, but may want to bring your own storage containers for leftovers.

Overall it's a fantastic rental on a very large, clean, and unusually inactive lake!

Our stay was great. Kevin and Joy were very nice to work with. Clean spacious and comfortable. Felt like we were kids again back in a cottage from our early years. More than enough kitchen equipment updated bathrooms Our grandchildren loved the swimming, boat and fishing. Rarely watched TV as there was always something else to do. Pier and dock need to be addressed as it is rickety and not stable. Difficult time getting in and out of the boat att times especially if it's is a windy day. I would definitely stay again. Just needs to be tweaked a little. GREAT TIME! Owners are great to work with.

Owner's Response: Just wanted to address the dock situation. We have just purchased a new vinyl dock system for next season. It is going to be a huge up grade to the wooden dock. Will post pictures of new dock when it is installed. Thank you!!!!

Everything you will need for a great vacation!!

  • 5 of 5

Great house with lots of room. Very clean and well stocked to provide everything you will need from furnishings to kitchen/cooking items. We had eight adults and one child, and had more than enough room. The owners were great to work with!! Beautiful view of Mullett Lake. We also rented the pontoon boat, and it was great! We had a very windy week so we missed some boating days, but discovered that if we took the pontoon across the lake it was more

calm and we could still enjoy the water. We would recommend this home to everyone, and if we return to Mullett Lake in the future, this will be where we stay!

Wonderful experience - highly recommend!

We had the best time while staying in this home right on the water! There were multiple families with us, of all ages, and everyone had plenty of space. Great layout for having lots of guests. Very comfortable and clean... not to mention the gorgeous views of sunsets on the lake! Such a pretty setting with the decks overlooking the water. I wish I could add photos because we took some great ones during our stay. Going out on the boat was a blast, very glad we opted to add this to our trip. Would definitely stay here again in the future.

Perfect Getaway

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I rented out this house for our 1 year anniversary. It was perfect. If we wanted, we could have brought our friends and family since there are plenty of rooms and beds. It was a close travel to Makinac Island. Every Morning we either road out on the Pontoon Boat, Or drank coffee on the patio while enjoying the breathtaking scenery. We took advantage of the home entertainment, especially the Pool Table and fire pit. There's a gym, stores, and a restaurant in short driving distance. There is plenty to do to fit any age. We will be going again ASAP.

memory maker

me and my family rented this house and we felt so very comfortable and cozy for our entire trip. Every room has comfort and serves a function for busy families. The house was impeccably clean and we had everything we needed- from whipping up a pot of spaghetti to a crab boil! The owners were so great to work with! The best part we enjoyed was the walk down to the dock where we swam, fished, sunbathed and took the pontoon exploring the gorgeous lake the house is on. I would recommend this for families looking to have a memorable vacation without having to plan a packed agenda and driving to other locations for entertainment- everything is in one spot to create a fun filled escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
