We decided to buy this Brooklyn townhouse because of both the amazing location and layout of the floors. Each floor is a a true home, something that is hard to come by in NYC apartments. The neighborhood is also somewhat rare in that you get all of the advantages of being in central NYC with a more relaxed and village-like vibe at the same time.
Beautiful and clean apartment, very nice and modern furniture kitchen has everything you need. Wonderful garden. The owner Liz was very helpful and responsive. The house is perfect located in one of the nicest Brooklyn's neighborhood, walking distance from a lot of amazing restaurant and from the Metro. We will be back for sure next summer. We wanted to stay in or near Brooklyn Heights & Promenade but not in a hotel. This was the experience we were looking for!! Tree lined streets, 4 story walk ups, character, the real Brooklyn feel. The apt is clean, well stocked and very safe and close to Trader Joes and many bakeries and restaurants. Only one block to the subway F train which will take you to south Central Park in only 30 min! We loved that Liz's place had two bedrooms-hard to find. I loved the exposed brick wall in the one bedroom and the original hardwood floors. Liz was AWESOME! The night we arrived was too late to get groceries so she ran upstairs and got us butter, creamer, English muffins, etc. Coffee was provided. She also brought up fans for our rooms which helped us sleep great-white noise. The neighborhood is pretty quiet. The birds singing in the garden in the morning were a treat as was watching the squirrels play. We were able to walk up to the Heights everyday. About a 25 minute walk thru lovely neighborhoods like Cobble Hill chocked full of trees, Brownstones, and some magnificent architecture. Montague street and Pierrepont and Columbia Heights has some great strolling, darling cafes and the waterfront. Visit Friend of a Farmer cafe. Keep walking and you're in Dumbo for some authentic Brooklyn pizza at Front street pizza or visit the Brooklyn park bridge. Overall, we were thrilled with our stay. You will hear footsteps from the floor above sometimes and the old floors creak, but for me, that added to the charm and the homey feel of our stay. And Liz's hospitality is just off the charts!
We were very pleased with our rental. It was just what we needed for our stay. It was clean, well furnished, well located and our landlady was very responsive and helpful as well as generous.
We would definitely recommend the property to other visitors.
We were the first ones to rent the terrace apartment after the renovations. It was perfect! The kitchen and bathroom were brand new, and the bathroom even had a full sized washer and dryer. The whole apartment was very clean and well furnished with nice bedding and comfortable beds, and I am fussy about those things! The bathroom was well furnished with lots of towels. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you could want. It was a very quick walk to the subway to get anywhere you wanted. There are lots of nice restaurants and shops nearby, and it's a great neighborhood. Liz, the owner, lives in the building, and was there to answer any question we had. One day the cable to the TV stopped working, and she had someone at the cable company fix it the very same day. I was able to communicate with her by text, so I didn't have to wait to communicate anything to her. Our son and family live a few blocks away, and we were able to spend a lot of time with them, and then had a nice apartment to come back to. I would recommend it to anyone.
I stayed in Liz and Peter's two bedroom terrace apartment (the first several photos) with my wife, parents and one year old son when in New York for a wedding. This was my first experience with HomeAway or the concept of renting from a private person. I was immediately comfortable when Liz called me after I sent an inquiry to tell me about the apartment.
The apartment was clean and accurately reflected in the pictures in the ad. Liz was out of town when we checked in; so, we used the lockbox to get the key and the process was seamless. Liz texted me to check in and was very accommodating our entire stay always recommending places to go... etc. The apartment had everything you would need with cooking basics in the kitchen and even a pack and play for our son.
We ended up finding a ton of great places nearby to eat and really enjoyed walking around Brooklyn. The Trader Joes around the corner was very convenient! This apartment is very central in Brooklyn. It is close enough that we walked to Manhattan one day over the Brooklyn Bridge and the next day walked to Park Slope and prospect park. Liz's description of travel times in the ad are accurate. Liz also recommended a local car service that is great and very reasonable for airport and other transportation when you don't want to deal with the subway or a cab.
Here are places we walked to in Brooklyn and loved (found mostly with Yelp). They are all within a mile or two and we really enjoyed walking around.

Finally, the checkout process was smooth and we were permitted to leave our bags in the apartment while it was being cleaned. The cleaning folks were super nice and even helped us get our luggage to the Car! The rental deposit was returned quickly!
If I had to include one negative it would be that the TV only gets local channels. Obviously there are much better things to do outside the apartment; but, we had a friend babysit one night and I felt bad that she didn't have more to watch on TV.
Overall, this apartment is a great alternative to high hotel prices in the city. Liz and Peter are really nice and will make your stay a pleasure.
This place is amazing as is the owner Liz. She is completely legit and wonderful. The pictures of the apartment are 100 percent accurate. Our group, 5 women, stayed in this apartment for 10 days in August 2012. We came all the way from Reno NV so I was nervous looking at the different websites and trying to avoid scams. This was a an amazing, spacious, clean apartment with beautiful energy. The owner is attentive and honorable. We got our full deposit back within a week of our departure. She even took the time to send personal items, that were left in the apartment, back to us. This place was a steal. Very close to the train. Subway takes 15 minutes to get into Manhattan. I highly recommend this vacation rental.
