Relaxation and excitement are near to each other.
Take a book, a chair, and a drink out in the field to relax while the kids play,on swing set, or spacious backyard. Feeling active? Take a walk around the field, cross country ski, sled on nearby hills, or take a bike ride on the quiet street. Getting chilly?
Start a fire in the fire pit and make some s'mores and plan your next days events. Nearby you will find Ioka Valley Farm for kids activities and maple syrup, the museum in Pittsfield, Theater Festival, Clark Art, and Williams College in Williamstown, , concerts and spa's in Lenox, art at Mass MOCA in North Adams, Hancock Shaker Village over the mountain in Hancock, and many more cultural venues plus various State Parks and lakes for swimming, boating, fishing, wildlife watching and hiking.

Next you will find the full bath with tiled floor and tiled full size tub/shower surround, beadboard wainscoting, and a piano bench for dressing. You can walk across the hall to a bedroom with queen bed and windows with a view of the stone wall and mountains beyond. For infants or small children a 'pack-n-play' is provided to use in this or any other room.
Exit this bedroom and on your left you will find the full size fully equipped kitchen. The kitchen overlooks the dining room via large pass through and the living room via oversized doorway and features a large refrigerator, soapstone sink, and unique countertops made from reclaimed wide wall boards. You will find plenty of room for you to have help preparing your meals.
The dining room has a large oak table, buffet, and a high chair for the little one. In the living room you can sit on the comfortable couches and enjoy the light coming in from the french doors and multiple windows or close the blinds and turn on the flat screen TV and watch your favorite show from the satalite or your DVD movie.
Up the steps you will find a bedroom on your left with two twin beds, and bedroom on your right with a queen bed and a toddler bed. At the top of the stairs and between the bedrooms is a bathroom and for some alone time you have a reading nook with books and a rocking chair.

Bruce was an absolute pleasure to work with. I reached out to him a week prior to an impromptu weekend gateway, and he responded immediately. Upon arrival, we were pleasantly surprised at how tasteful decorated and well-organized the place is. The owners' attention to detail is apparent throughout the house, from neatly-labeled soap dispensers to perfectly stacked books. Our young children loved the toys and books, and the expansive yard with a swing set, hammock, and meticulously maintained flower beds. The owners live right beside this cottage, so we had the chance to bump into them here and there which made our mini-vacation extra intimate. While the younger children napped in the house, I sat in the backyard and watched my older one on the swingset. With the mountains in the background and hearing nothing but the breeze blowing through the leaves, I wondered how one could ever get tired of this view.
The only down side is that the house appears to have been converted from a farm house, so noise and light insulation is definitely lacking. One can easily hear conversations in the bedrooms upstairs and vice-versa. But Bruce's hospitality has more than made up for it. Thank you for making our family weekend in the Berkshires simply sublime!
Last minute booking and what a treat! Bruce was a pleasure to work with - made it all so easy. And a great price for the pricey Berkshires area. Centrally located was key since we had only a few days - this fit the bill perfectly. Living space was cozy and inviting. The kids toys were a wonderful surprise for our little one, as well as the jungle gym. Kitchen was awesome. But wow, that great view and the wide open backyard was really special. Just what we were looking for. Would have liked to have a 2nd shower (only has one, for 4 adults) but we made it work for just a couple of days. Would book again, no doubt.
Five adults had a wonderful time in this home behind a home, found it very private, threw baseballs in the backyard, gazed at the big field and woods out back during the day and the stars at night. Comfortable beds, sofas, dining room. Well equipped kitchen and modern appliances, and a gorgeous bathroom to take a shower in. Walks up and down the lanes were also very enjoyable.
We've just returned home from a 5 night stay at this lovely home in Hancock. The house is nicer in person than pictures. Spacious and well equipped. The grounds are simply gorgeous. Beautiful property. We enjoyed most of our meals outside at a wrought iron table. We made good use of the hammock between the kids playing on it, and the adults sneaking some time to read. We were fortunate to have gorgeous weather, and made a campfire each evening with supplies that were provided for us. Bruce and Amanda were lovely, accessible, and gave us great recommendations for restaurants, shops, etc. We had a great day at jiminy Peak, also Mt Greylock, Stockbridge, a local swimming pond, and more...
Combine the privacy of your own house with the attention and support you would expect from a boutique hotel or B&B. Mint condition, gut-renovated 3BR home less than 5 minutes to Jiminy (with views of the mountain from front yard) is attached to owner's home (which itself is beautiful). Separate entrance and mud room provide privacy, but we found it helpful and convenient to have responsive owner with attention to detail right next door. Light bulb go out or need a new battery for remote control? Bruce is right next door to take care of it. Owners Bruce and Amanda are wonderful and easy and fair to deal with. We have already signed up to stay again next year. For a single family, this may be the best and most convenient rental option in Hancock. Would highly recommend staying here.
Owners (Bruce and Amanda) were very accommodating for our short (2 night) visit. They were available if we had a question or concern, otherwise they left us alone on our vacation. Fire pit was nice under the starry sky. We picked gourds and watermelon from their garden. Their kids let our kids play with their swingset, sandbox and other toys - backyard was huge and almost impossible for kids to get lost in. Kitchen is user-friendly and nice size. 1 1/2 baths - downstairs bath had great tile work (we've rented homes that had peeling linoleum and plywood walls); shower had plenty of hot water; upstairs bath was nice for those two bedrooms (nighttime bathroom visits.) Nice flat screen TV with Dish Network and comfortable leather couches in seating area. Outside patio table was nice. Our only complaint was noise volume among our family - sounds travel easily in this home. I can't end review on a complaint - so I would like to close by simply saying - if we need to stay in Berkshires again, we would stay with Bruce and Amanda - excellent hosts. And Hancock is close to most attractions.
