This charming one-bedroom apartment in the heart of Recoleta is an excellent choice for your stay in Buenos Aires. Located on one of the city's most elegant avenues, the apartment faces the back of the building and is thus, extremely quiet.
The truly special element is a private garden patio adjacent to the living room, where high walls and ambient lighting create an excellent space for dining, cocktails or answering emails. When you do head out, you'll find that the location is incredibly central. As an Argentine friend said to me, 'If you were going to put a pin on the most desired location in Buenos Aires, it would be on this apartment.' Countless shops and restaurants are right outside your door. The famed Recoleta Cemetery as well as the city's finest hotels are a few minutes walk away.
The space is both comfortable and modern. It features marble-accented bathrooms, a fully outfitted, granite finished kitchen and a large sofa area that is perfect for relaxing. The bedroom is an ensuite with a king bed and also has a small external patio. The living and dining area is spacious and huge (especially by Argentine standards!)
Recoleta is adjacent to several neighborhoods including Palermo and Plaza San Martin, both of which are a short taxi ride away.

I design leather and fur clothing and handbags in Buenos Aires. Because of that, I am there a lot and wanted a home base for myself when I am in Buenos Aires. You will feel at home here. From the wedgwood china to the extra comfortable bed, this apartment is definitely outfitted to be the most enjoyable experience for both you and me!
Virginia Lato purchased this condo in 2005
As one of my Argentine associates said to me, if you were putting a pin on a map of Buenos Aires, targeting the very best location, it would be my apartment. It is quiet, yet close to absolutely everything. You will walk the city from this location. The neighbourhood is thriving and alive with more restaurants and shops than you can possibly want, but safe and secure.
People are astounded when they see the garden that is part of this apartment. Two complete walls are windows to the garden, making the whole apartment airy and open. I normally leave the doors wide open, allowing the breezes to flow through the apartment. Since we are at the back of the apartment, the most common noise is that of the birds singing.
To make it complete, the location simply cannot be beat! Restaurants and shops abound right outside the door. If you don't want to walk, taxis are easy and plentiful, while the subway is just down the street.
Alas, we've come to the end of our stay in your airy garden apartment in fabulous Buenos Aires. We've had a marvellous time; we've walked and walked and walked (at times in places we shouldn't have; we had three locals tell us to head back to Caminito in La Boca when we strayed too far in our search of colourful houses) and it's been great to be able to come back to the apartment and rest in the middle of the day before heading out for another feast of the senses.
We have wandered through the amazing Parque Natural Y Reserva Ecologica Costanera Sur, enjoyed the ghoulish delights of La Recoleta Cementerio - with its avenues and streets, truly a walled city of the dead - and of course we had to go to Casa Rosa to see Evita's balcony. Other experiences that gave us a real feel for the spirit of the place were the San Telmo Fair and Sensaciones de Tango at Gran Cafe Tortoni. We were also lucky enough to experience a Buenos Aires Ciudad Celebration with choirs, an opera singer, traditional dancers from various regions in the most colourful and unusual costumes accompanied by equally colourful musicians and, the finale, flamenco dancers!
You were so right when you said we would love Buenos Aires and that Victoriano would look after us; he did, and was always incredibly friendly and helpful. But there is still so much to see; we'll just have to come back one day.
We fly out later today and hope to be able to leave our things in the apartment until about 1.45 pm if that's OK with you.
Thank you so much for sharing your apartment, your insights and beautiful Buenos Aires.
Lovely ground floor apartment in central Recoleta, tastefully furnished and a super comfy king size bed. So central to all the attractions, Recoleta cemetery and all the historic buildings within walking distance. Close to Jorge Newbery Airport too if you want to fly up to the Iguazu falls, a must see , and located not far from the Burquebus to Uruguay. Good security and Virginia very pleasant and helpful to deal with. Barry & Kathie fron New Zealand stayed 25 nights.
Virginia's apartment was exactly as described in the pictures and descriptions. The interior spaces were spacious and comfortable - we were curious how the built in sofas would work out, but they were delightful. The garden space is a huge bonus. We used it every morning for breakfast and most nights for dinner. The space is much more comfortable and useful than most balconies can be. Having a choice of outdoor and indoor areas makes the apartment especially well suited for longer stays. The apartment is located on the ground floor which made it easy to pop out to the grocery store or bakery (or ice cream parlor). The location in Recoleta is terrific. Anything you may need is within a short walk, and in most cases there are several choices. We were able to sample several bakeries, two supermarkets, and many restaurants within easy walking distance. To travel farther, taxis are plentiful, convenient, and not very expensive. We were there long enough to figure out the basics of the bus system, which is also convenient and VERY inexpensive. Working with Virginia was simple and pleasant. She responded very promptly to all our inquiries. We were so happy with our stay in the apartment and Buenos Aires that we have already rebooked with Virginia.
If you have done Europe, then Buenos Aires is your next stop. If you have ever wondered what happens when you mix European cultures, this is the answer. An old saying is that Argentines are Italians speaking Spanish who think they are English living in France. It’s an eye opener.
Virgina’s place is the perfect headquarters to see Buenos Aires and Argentina. The lovely apartment is centrally located in this large metropolis. A hundred taxis per hour fly by the front door so travel anywhere is fast and cheap.
Pleasant cafes and restaurants are within walking distance. Highly recommended closed door restaurant Casa Saltshaker is a 10 minute walk. The best restaurants are a short cab ride from your door. Major attractions are an easy walk away.
Virginia is a wonderful landlord and her support people are outstanding.
What are you waiting for?
We just stayed in Virginia's apartment for two weeks. It was just what we needed. Communicating with Virginia was a breeze, right from the first moment we expressed interest. When we arrived we were greeted by her agent Augusto who, apart from being a very personable guy, made it very clear that he was available for any issues or questions we had.
The apartment itself was very spacious and of course had the garden which made it seem even more spacious. The location was fantastic. Recoleta was exactly our speed. Busy and full of options but not hectic like Palermo or San Telmo. We were able to go out onto the street at any time day or night and find the city buzzing, but retire to our large living room or garden and be completely oblivious to the activity outside.
There are at least a dozen good places to eat within five minutes walk. Many of the major museums are also within walking distance. Taxis are easy to get right outside the door and are very reasonably priced.
One thing I really appreciated was the washing machine in the apartment. On other occasions I've told myself that it's not essential, especially if I like the look of a holiday rental and it doesn't have one. However, I have also found myself dropping off laundry or hunting for small change when I could be doing other things. Also because there was a mini heatwave during our stay I needed to rotate my few suitable clothes pretty swiftly.
Thanks Virginia. We had a wonderful two weeks.
We stayed a month at Virginia's place in Recoletta. While we could have rented a cheaper accommodation, we wanted the reassurance of friend's recommendation. Virginia was very efficient, informative and provided convenient support for our arrival, having arranged for pick up at the airport and a contact to help us dealing with local matters.
Our first time in South America and with little to no spanish, her Contact Augusto helped us and coordinated everything for us.
The apartment was as described in the profile, no bad surprises.
When we arrived there was cold Champagne in the fridge, Red wine in the rack and coffee ready for the next morning.Right away we were welcomed home. The apartment is furnished like a home not an empty condo rented to generate cash.
The library had a plethora of guide books and an outstanding book about the apartment, the neighbourhood etc. On our first night we sat outside on the terrasse and enjoyed the special privilege of a private inside court in a city of 15 million people.
During our stay we visited and stayed in other cities in Argentina, and it helped us appreciate how special "our place in Recoletta" was. Coming back
after roaming around for a week, we were so happy to come home.Enjoying our favourite cafe, booking a performance at the majestic Theatro Colon, hopping on the Sub-t for a day shopping trip in Tigre.
Our concerns over safety had vanished. We adapted to the pace of the city, walking to dinner at 9Pm, getting up late and enjoying the amazing cool morning and evening weather.
All along we congratulated ourselves on the wisdom of our choice of apartment. Never thought we could say we could say: "we have a place in Buenos Aires", and as long as Virginia agrees to let us have it.... we will.
Easy to get to,and easy to get to everywhere you would want to go in the city. A truly relaxing temporary home and refuge from the pace of the city. We loved it, especially having the garden to use, look out on, and to keep from feeling at all like being in a city of several million people. We recommend this for anyone visiting Buenos Aires - you will have a hard time finding any better place to stay.
Incredible shopping, delectable restaurants, artisanal marketplaces, museums, art galleries and cafès at your doorstep. Walk, hail a cab, pop on the transit or arrange for a driver at any time. Vibrant, safe neighborhood.
