Carriage Hills House Rental Photos and Description

House, 4 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 10)

Estes Park is a little 'slice of heaven' and we have created a comfortable and spacious, warm home on an acre of gorgeous mountain meadow in the Carriage Hills community of Estes Park - the gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park.

From our 2,340 square foot two-story mountain home, we have incredible 360 degree ever-changing views of the gorgeous, snow-capped peaks and plenty of blue skies and bright stars.

You can walk to neighborhood lakes and a bike path that runs adjacent to the golf course and loops through downtown, Lake Estes, and the fairgrounds. Great for a leisurely walk or bicycle ride.

Your family will feel at home in our smoke-free vacation home. We especially welcome families, as we have children ourselves and know how hard it is to travel with children and still have a relaxing vacation. This is a great home to have a family get-together.

The master has a queen bed, as well as a full bath directly from the bedroom and a patio door with views of the snow-capped Mummy Mountain Range. Two bedrooms have queen-sized beds with patio doors directly to a wrap-around deck. The fourth bedroom has a full size bed and a twin size bunk bed.

The cathedral ceiling Great room offers dynamic views of the Twin Sisters, the Mummy Range with snow capped peaks of Chapin, Fairchild, and Ypsilon (13,514 ft), Lumpy Ridge and the beautiful Estes Valley. The Great room has windows that face east, west, north and south, and it is open to the fully equipped kitchen with everything you need to prepare a holiday meal or a picnic on the deck. Also enjoy a cup of coffee while reading the paper on one of the three bar stools at the log counter while conversing with the chefs. The Great room design allows families to be together to enjoy their vacation to the fullest as they prepare meals, watch TV and interact during the day.

The dining room table comfortably seats 6-8, and has the counter seating and the bistro table nearby so a family of 14 can enjoy a meal together.

Enjoy the additional bistro table for that morning cup of coffee or an evening of cards & games. We have plenty of puzzles and games to be played. Cozy up in front of one of the two fireplaces with a good book and a cup of tea or glass of wine. There is plenty of comfortable seating space to watch your favorite movie or sports event on the 47” flat screen TV. We have included many DVD’s and videos for the family. We also have free wireless Internet. If you are looking for a quiet place to relax and enjoy reading there is the living room and an additional family room to relax with your own book or one of ours. This home is designed to enjoy the views and the sunshine from every room.

Being inside is fantastic but being outside enjoying the mountain air, wildlife, and views from our wrap-around deck is even better. One can easily spend hours just relaxing on the large deck reading, enjoying Colorado’s deep blue skies and bright sunshine, watching deer or elk meandering by, and soaking up the beauty of these magnificent mountains. Don’t rush in from that afternoon thunderstorm, enjoy the smells and sounds without getting soaked. You will be protected by the covered patio.

Enjoy the views while you grill on our easily accessible outdoor grill or have burgers at our 8-foot picnic table. Or just relax with your favorite beverage while watching the ever-changing colors of the Mummy Range. Watch the hummingbirds drink nectar or observe deer, herds of elk, picas, or rabbits playing in the yard.

At night, the quiet and the cool crisp mountain air are perfect for sleeping after enjoying a glorious sunset, and gazing for awhile at a night sky filled with a million stars!

This vacation home is not just a place to stay. It is a place to be with family and great friends in a setting that will inspire and enrich you. You will love our vacation home as much as we do!! Come and make our home your “home away from home” while on vacation in Estes Park. You will be glad you did!

About Daniel Sparling

Living in the great prairies of North Dakota My Wife and I have been Visiting the Rocky Mountains for years. We have always wanted a place of our own to enjoy the beauty of the mountains. When our daughter moved to Estes Park Colorado we thought. Great! We can just mooch off of them (Visit). Well they sold their home and we bought it to enjoy as a family and let others enjoy it as a family gathering place. It has been great for us. We hope you will visit our home and see why.

Daniel Sparling purchased this house in 2009

Why Daniel Sparling chose Estes Park

This area is one of the most beautiful areas of the rocky mountains. There are '14 ers' (mountains over 14,000 ft) surrounding Estes Park. Estes Park is a large enough community to have all the essentials and close enough to a large Metro area to enjoy shopping, professional sports, and museums. We are the gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park with miles and miles of hiking and horseback riding trails. There are trails for every level of rider that are easily accessible from our home. What a great place to come to snowshoe or cross-country ski. Down hill skiing is just 45 minutes away at Eldora Ski Resort. The wildlife abounds in the area right in our community of Estes Park. Come and join us for Elktober. This is when the elk come down from the high country in the fall to rut. You can hear Elk Bugling and see Bulls challenging each other. The rut is when the males are gathering their harem (females) for next year's calves.

What makes this house unique

Gather your kids and their spouses and your grandchildren. There is plenty of room for a family reunion. You won't find a home like this that has a quiet space for yourselves and a large great room for all to enjoy one another together. The views from this home are excellent in all four directions. See the high peaks and Estes Valley. There is plenty of room on this one acre lot to challenge each other in that outdoor family game. Or you can just sit on the wrap-around deck and watch the ever-changing mountain scenery. We hope you love it as much as we do!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Dan, Thanks for sharing your wonderful house. We enjoyed out trip to Estes Park. Your house was a plus to the trip. We did not want to leave to go back home to Texas. The last night we were there, I was lying in bed on my tablet. My dog, Gunner, kept barking and running to the sliding door in my bedroom. I finally got up to see what he was barking at. I really thought it was your neighbors horse. No, there was a hugh herd of elk eating just outside the house. It was amazing. We watched them until it was to dark to see. This just made staying at your house more wonderful. Thanks, Dora

Beautiful views at a great home

  • 5 of 5

Our family enjoyed this home that had amazing views from every window, a well stocked kitchen and comfortable living spaces. We entertained our extended family for a first ever family reunion. There were games and spaces for all generations. Estes Park offered many activities and the hikes were incredible.

Beautiful and spacious!

  • 5 of 5

This home was perfect for our Estes Park family reunion. The main floor's open layout was ideal for several families to share meals and spend time together. We loved the beautiful wrap around porch and we enjoyed watching a large elk in the neighbor's yard. The ping pong and air hockey table in the garage was a huge hit with the kids! We would definitely stay here again. It was easy and we had no complaints!

Perfect House for Large Families

  • 4 of 5

This house was perfect for our combined families. There was plenty of room for everyone and even had puzzles, games and movies available. It was very nicely equipped with all the comforts of home. If there was anything I would suggest for the homeowner, it would be to update a few of the kitchen supplies, i.e. cookie sheets, baking pans. Also for us southerners, we are accustomed to A/C. Even though the temps drop at night, with the sliding glass doors and windows open, it was still a bit warm for our liking. Adding ceiling fan lights in the two upstairs bedrooms would have been the perfect solution. We will definitely keep this house on our list for future visits!

Great vacation home

  • 5 of 5

We held our family reunion this year in Estes Park. We were looking for a home with plenty of room for entertaining and one that would work for children ages 1 year to 7 years old. This house worked perfect! The house is large and gives you a lot of room for the guests and the kids loved it! There is a large yard that the kids loved to play and run in and the TV room downstairs allowed for them to watch movies while the grownups were upstairs. The ping pong table and air hockey table was a lot of fun for them too. I really enjoyed the wrap-around porch on the main level. The views of the mountains were breathtaking! I also liked the fact that this house is in a nice, quiet neighborhood. Downtown Estes was so busy and it was so nice to be able to come back to some peace and quiet at this house. The kitchen is totally stocked for you including a lot of spices and sugar etc that you need but hate to buy for a few days stay. The bedrooms are good size with comfortable beds. We were very pleased with how clean the place was and that it comes with a washer/dryer(which you need with kids!) We have rented VRBO homes before and will again. We will have a lot of great memories from our stay in Estes Park!

Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful vacation here. The views are amazing from every window. The house is large with plenty of space for large families. The kitchen is fully stocked and everything was prepared for our arrival. The location has plenty of room for playing outside with a playground nearby. The children especially loved playing ping-pong. We would definitely stay here again!

Nice place

  • 4 of 5

We had a nice time at the Sparling's house in Estes. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed, beds were comfortable, and it was in a great location, close to downtown Estes and RMNP.

Only two small concerns came up. The first was that the dining table was a little small so it just barely accommodated our group of 7 people. The house can sleep more, but it would be tough to all sit down for a meal together.

The second was that the agreements in the contract were different than what I read when I booked the space. Daniel was very accommodating and worked with us on the differences, but I was surprised by what the contract contained. It might be a good idea to clarify expectations in the text when reserving the space.

Estes Park is nestled at the foot of Rocky Mountain National Park, a large and beautiful wilderness area that offers recreational possibilities all year round. The entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park is only 5 minutes away with an endless amount of trails to hike for all ability levels and trout fishing to excite the eager angler in your group. If you love horseback riding, as I do, the trails are endless in the National Park and all around us in the national forest. You can even ride your horse from your vacation home. You can also rent horses by the hour, day or week at Sombrero Outfitters. In the summer and fall, hiking, horseback riding, rock climbing, river rafting, and similar activities for the outdoor enthusiast abound. A portion of the park is traversed by Trail Ridge Road, the highest paved road in the world, which is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day and offers unbelievable panoramas of the fragile and beautiful tundra.
