Heart of the HIll Cottage is a high quality 2 bedroom, 1 1/2 bath Cottage, with panoramic views of the Oceanside beach and Three Arch Rocks, a National Game Preserve.
All New in 2010, the Cottage has beautiful reclaimed wood ceilings, granite counters, and glass tile backsplashes throughout. There are 2 ocean facing decks, with stainless cable railing, and a 3rd deck, also with ocean view, off the kitchen entry.
The Cottage sits directly above the 2 car garage. Stairs lead from the garage up to the entry. On the main floor is the kitchen, dining, living, and 1/2 bath. A 32'' flatscreen TV with built in DVD, and WiFi are in the living area. The upstairs has 2 bedrooms, one with queen bed, one with 2 twin beds, and the full bath, with a heated tile floor, and a shower/tub.
There are fabulous views from both bedrooms and all living spaces. It was designed with a maximum of 4 people in mind, either 2 couples, or perhaps parents with 2 kids.
The master, front, bedroom has vaulted wood ceilings with full height windows. Awakening to this amazing view will make you smile, guaranteed. The 2nd bedroom, with the twin beds, also has a great, more southerly ocean view. The heated tile floor in the bathroom is a real treat, especially in the middle of the night, or before and after bathing. My wife told me I was going to love it...
The Cottage is not large, about 850 sq.ft. on the 2 floors, but it is very well designed, efficient, warm, and cozy. The enameled propane fireplace in the living area adds great physical, and aesthetic, warmth. It is an amazing little place.
The town of Oceanside, only 90 minutes from Portland, is also unique. Built like an amphitheater, this 250 resident village is off the beaten path, and has fabulous beaches, vistas, and a tranquil natural setting. Two restaurants and one coffee shop are the only commercial establishments. Quiet, peaceful, beautiful.
We're about 10 miles west of Tillamook, the cheese town located on a large Bay, and surrounded by great forests, a mecca for fishermen, boaters, and hikers, with activities nearby for all interests.
If you're looking for luxury in a comfortable setting with unparalleled views, our Heart of the Hill Cottage will fit your desires.
Kate and Ron Young, retired teachers, refurbished the Heart of the Hill cabins in 2002, and 2010. Ron, also a former commercial carpenter, and their 2 sons did most of the work. They grew up in Portland, and have always loved the amazing Oregon Coast.
Ron Young purchased this cottage in 2001
Oceanside is a unique small town, with little commercialization, and great beaches, views, friendly people, and natural settings.
It is one of the closest Oregon beaches to Portland, only a 90 minute drive from downtown.
Another gorgeous week at Oceanside 70 and sunny every day. As always "Heart of the Hill" is the heart of our vacation!
My wife, son and I spent three nights at the cottage mid June. It was an awesome property with some of the best views from Oceanside. We loved the rooms and accommodations. This property is best for a romantic getaway or small family vacation. The cottage is sufficiently set up for cooking but you may wish to bring a few of your own gadgets. Convenient grocery shopping is only a few miles away in Tillamook. Oceanside is a great central destination that allows easy travel North and South for coastal explorations. We can't wait to stay here again in the future.
Myself and 2 of my friends stayed at this cottage for 1 week in July to August, 2012. We were delighted with the rooms, the view, and the location. We were lucky to have wonderful sunny weather. The beach was full of sand dollars, star fish and we could see sea lions from our balcony. There are many hikes in the area, several with beach access. The house is about a 5 minute walk to the beach, tucked up on a hill with all the homes in the area. The house was cozy and bright with big windows. There were very helpful instructions for finding and using everything. The house was clean and the appliances and heating worked perfectly. We had a wonderful time and would stay here again.
Oceanside was the last stop on our tour of Oregon. What a finale. We loved Oregon, we stayed in some fabulous places and we hope to be back soon, and in particular we want to come back to this cottage. It had everything we wanted - well equipped, attractive, comfortable, spotless, and a wonderful view. It was like a little haven up above the beach. We had some great trips up and down the coast, and close to Oceanside there are some lovely spots, but we particularly enjoyed sitting on the balcony with a glass of wine and watching all the activity on the beach, and the wonderful sunsets. I would highly recommend this cottage, as long as you can cope with a few stairs.
This house has an amazing view. It's comfortable, clean and very well remodeled. Kitchen is well equipped. Everything is new and nice. It is very small though, perfect for a couple's getaway. Easy walk into Oceanside or to the beach. Very well kept for a beach house.
One of the best vacation rentals I've stayed in. It's cozy, compact, contemporary, newer, very clean, and has stunning views of Oceanside's beach, ocean, and haystack rocks. The main bedroom commands the views upstairs, the smaller bedroom with two single beds has a window facing south with no views of the ocean (just go to the main floor to get your fill). The pots and pans were of high quality, but like many rentals, bring your own chef knife and a backup chopping board if you want to do serious cooking. Ideal for a couple and two single friends or a family. Would get quite crowded with more than four or five adults.
We booked only a couple of days out for a quick weekend trip and appreciated that there were no cleaning fees and no minimum stays!
If you're older or injured, be warned that there's about a flight and a half of steep stairs to get to the front door.
Thank you for letting us use your home as our vacation home. We had a lovely time. The location was perfect and the view couldn't be beat. Ron and Kate couldn't be nicer and more helpful. You could clearly tell they put a lot of effort into their home and have done a nice job upgrading it. A plus....the delicious wild blackberries growing all over the town.
