I'm originally from Buffalo, NY but have lived in Longmont, CO for 12 years. I work as a physician assistant in Pediatrics at Kaiser Permanente. I love all outdoor activities especially hiking, snowshoeing, biking and swimming. I'm a fanatic for wildflowers and have never seen any more spectacular than the ones in the Snowy Range. I do photography and most of my best shots were taken there.
Karen Kochanski purchased this house in 2015
I have been visiting the Snowy Range several times a year and decided it would be great to have a vacation property there. After looking for about a year, this house came on the market and I fell in love with it. The location is perfect and I enjoy having the full kitchen and beautiful deck.
Home away from home for about the cost of a hotel room in a spectacular location.
We have come to this house a few times already, and we always have a great time. These 5 days went by so fast! Cozy, comfy, and the wood burning stove adds a touch of magic. Complete kitchen.
Great place for a guys trip West. We always use VRBO and will use this place again. Thanks Karen, you were very easy to work with!
We had such a fabulous time at Karen's snowy range home. It was a perfect getaway from Fort Collins - lots of fantastic hiking trails in medicine bow national forest within a short drive. The little town of Centennial was so quaint and our whole trip was so peaceful and rejuvenating. Our dog had a fantastic time as well. Can't wait to return for another vacation here!
My fiancé needed a long weekend get away to the mountains and snowy mountain retreat was exactly what we had in mind. The cabin itself is immaculate and feels like home as soon as you walk in the door. It's location couldn't have been better. We didn't have to drive for more than 10 minutes for any of the most popular hikes in the area. Wifi was speedy and we enjoyed all the games. Our dogs loved it as well. We couldn't ask for more!
Great location to enjoy the Snowy Range. Hiking this visit, next will be down hill and cross country skiing.
I enjoyed visit to Laramie downtown and shopping at the yarn shop.
Friendly Store in Centennial (new owners in March) has well stocked grocery section including a few frozen meat/fish choices and a few fresh veggies. Cafe still has great breakfasts!
Love the open living/ kitchen area and big windows facing Laramie valley.
Deer were up close to front windows in the evening, including a 4 point buck.
My wife and I had a wonderful stay at Karen's home on the Snowy Range. The home was just right for us; very comfortable, clean, roomy, and had everything we could possibly want. We went hiking most days and enjoyed great weather and beautiful high mountain scenery just a few minutes from home. Two days we hiked and came across no other hikers on the trail. We were familiar with the hiking in the area but I want to note for others that Karen has a lot of good information in the cabin to help guide guests in planning their trip . I would definitely recommend the home to others.
Located just outside the entrance to the spectacular Snowy Range Mountains, visitors will enjoy scenic vistas and many recreational opportunities. Summer hikes feature fields of wildflowers, mountain lakes, scenic viewpoints and wildlife sightings. Countless lakes and streams are a fisherman's paradise.
In Autumn, the aspens turn spectacular shades of gold and red for uncrowded scenic drives and hikes. Many hunting opportunities are also available.
Winter puts the snow in the Snowy Range. Snowmobiling conditions are ideal and a family of four can ski for about $100. The Snowy Range Ski Area is only 3 miles away and features free skiing for kids <5 and seniors >70! Snowshoeing and cross country skiing are also available from your doorstep.
The town of Centennial offers several dining options, live music, bars and a convenience store/gas station <1 mile from home. Many more restaurants, cultural activities and shopping options are available in Laramie, less than 30 min away. The historic town of Saratoga on the other side of the Snowy Range features a free hot spring pool with changing rooms and natural river access. Note that the Snowy Range Scenic Byway is only open as a through road in summer and early fall. In winter, it is open up to the ski area and several access points to trails.
Visitors from Colorado's Front Range will appreciate access to the mountains without the crowds and driving hassles in Colorado. The Snowy Range is reminiscent of Colorado 50 years ago before the population explosion, pricey resort towns, and traffic jams. It's a wonderful place to enjoy nature and less than 3 hours from the Denver area.
