We call our house a "cabin", but it has 3 bedrooms and a loft, sleeps 10, and includes an attached garage. Recent upgrades include tile flooring, new carpet, renovated deck, new stainless steel kitchen appliances, and granite kitchen countertops. Views of the Wheeler Peak Range, the Moreno Valley, and the Rocky Mountains are spectacular from the upstairs balcony and the large downstairs covered deck. The king master bed, queen beds in the two downstairs bedrooms, and the double bed in the loft have new pillowtop mattresses. The sofa converts to a queen-sized bed. The kitchen is fully-equipped for gourmet cooking and serving a crowd. Amenities include a large flat-screen HD television, with DirecTv satellite service, a Blu-Ray DVD player, a smaller flat-screen HD TV and Blu-Ray player in one of the downstairs bedrooms, and a separate audio system for your iPod or MP3 player. Ample heat is supplied by propane heaters, with additional baseboard heaters in the bathrooms and electric blankets on the beds. Enjoy a blazing wood fire in the fireplace any time of year. There's even a small book, DVD, and game library for your quieter moments. The ski slopes are about 2 miles away. The village market is just a few hundred yards. The golf course is about 5 miles away. Access to the extensive Angel Fire trails system is just across the back yard, which often includes deer, elk, and other wildlife in the scenery. The streets and driveway are easily accessible without a 4-wheel drive vehicle. Whether you and your family are looking for excitement and activity, or just a few days of quiet and peaceful reflection and meditation, you'll find what you're looking for at Mountain View Cabin. Please come be our guests!
I'm a retired police officer and government administrator, currently enjoying travel with my best friend (my wife), woodworking, and a little volunteer work here and there. We recently visited the beautiful Shenandoah Valley in Virginia, the beaches at Ocean City, Maryland (great crab cakes!), and Washington, D.C. We love the mountains, particularly the Rockies. I was born in Alabama and raised in Tennessee, and I love the Appalachians. When traveling, we enjoy visiting art museums and galleries, hiking, reading, and sightseeing. We like to spend much of the hot summer months at our home in Angel Fire, where we are building relationships with people and organizations, including the fabulous annual Music from Angel Fire festival of world class chamber music! We enjoy sharing that home with guests when we aren't there, especially during ski season!

We love the Rocky Mountains and vacationed in Colorado many times. Returning from one of those trips, we passed through northern New Mexico and became "enchanted" with it. Besides, it was a much shorter drive from Oklahoma City. As we approached retirement, we considered purchasing a vacation home in the area. We chose Angel Fire because it offers such a wide variety of experiences and activities. We selected this property for its fabulous views and its proximity to the market, restaurants, the ski lift, and the golf course. We've been updating it ever since.
The wonderful and unobstructed mountain views from many areas, including the covered deck, the upstairs balcony, and the sitting area in the living room are awe-inspiring! We love sitting on the covered deck in the evenings, or any time of day, to read, talk, or just sit quietly and enjoy the views and the frequent wildlife and bird visits. Morning coffee on the deck (in summer) or in the sitting area (in winter) is a genuine pleasure, offering a time of serenity, reflection, and meditation.
This cabin has a great location within 5 minutes of the local grocery store and the ski area. Having use of the garage was nice to store our bikes. The back deck has a scenic view and was really nice to relax on after a day on the mountain.
