Ocean City - wide sandy beaches, world class amusement parks!
Amusements and Attractions
There's always something to do. Of course, there's the boardwalk and the beach, there's fishing and golf. But Ocean City also boasts two full-scale amusement parks, water parks, shopping and outlet malls, and an amusement pier. Not to mention the miniature golf courses, go-cart tracks, and arcades. Or you can fly a kite, go parasailing, take an airplane ride or a cruise, spend an evening at Ocean Downs harness raceway, catch a movie, visit a museum, or play tennis.
Most people come for the beach. It's fantastic: ten-miles of sand and hundreds of square miles of sea. Run, hike, swim, sunbathe, read a book, ride the waves, or watch the sun come up. It's open to everyone. It's all yours, and it's free.
And then there's the boardwalk, one of the best on the planet. Nearly three miles of shops, rides, arcades, and restaurants. Eat, drink, and be happy. Cotton candy, fudge, salt water taffies, the famous Ocean City French fries, and home-made local ice cream and shakes. Stroll the shops, sit on the benches and watch the people go by. It's great during the day and electric at night.
There's no shortage of places to eat, from many of your favorite national chains to local restaurants of every type and atmosphere. In fact, there are over 160 restaurants, serving continental, Italian, Chinese, Japanese, Mexican, comfort food, traditional American, nouveau cuisine, family buffet and you name it. Not to mention the specialty of Maryland’s Eastern Shore: fresh-from-the-water seafood straight off the docks. Enjoy world-famous Maryland crab cakes, oysters, mussels, lobster, clams, a variety of fresh fish and of course, "all you can eat" steamed hard shell crabs.
You can't beat the fishing. The nearby Gulf Stream waters are loaded with bigeye and yellow fin tuna, mako, mahi, blue and white marlin. Every day head boats and charter craft go out at sun up, or earlier, and return in the early afternoon. But you don't have to go out deep to make a nice catch. You can fish right off the piers and other fishing areas, such as the Route 50 bridge, or go surf fishing for bluefish, sea trout, kingfish and more off the Ocean City and Assateague Island beaches.
See why so many golfers flock to Ocean City, home of over fourteen championship local courses. Whether you are an experienced golfer or novice, we have the golf course for you. Come and experience world class courses designed by Carl M. Freeman, Jack Nicklaus, Rick Jacobson, Arthur Hills, Robert Trent Jones, Sr., Gary Player, Pete Oakley , Chris Adkins, Pete and P.B. Dye, and Ault, Clark & Associates. Learn more about Ocean City Golf and view a full description of each golf course, the number of course, yards, par rating, and slope.
Special Events Year 'Round
There's always something going on. Ocean City has two spectacular fireworks displays on the Fourth of July, fishing tournaments (including August’s White Marlin Open--the East Coast’s largest deep sea fishing tournament), the 10 and 5 K “Run Away from Home” in the fall, the four days of Springfest in May and Sunfest in September, spring and fall classic car “cruising” weekends, the Bavarian festival, the Greek festival, the Christmas Parade, the St. Patrick’s Day Parade and the Winterfest of Lights in November and December, are just a few of our wonderful events. Ocean City's fun and enchanting all year long. Learn more about Ocean City Events.
And if you want to get away, the surrounding area offers great places to visit. The charming town of Snow Hill with its many historic homes dating back hundreds of years. Historic Berlin with its newly restored downtown capturing the charm of a turn-of-the-century main street. Pocomoke, known as the friendliest town on the Eastern Shore. The unspoiled beauty and wonder of Assateague Island’s State and National parklands with their famous herd of wild ponies.
