Cottage, 4 Bedrooms + 3 season Porch, 2 Baths (Sleeps 12)
Our family cottage is a single level ranch style layout with (4) bedrooms (three with queen beds and the forth has two twins, a double and a bunk bed; this ''bunk room'' is great for kids). Four couches offer extra sleeping space for kids in the living room and porch if needed. Two full baths (both with showers). The large living room has a cathedral ceiling and knotty pine walls, very popular and still plentiful in northern Michigan. A large stone fireplace (gas). A 42' plasma TV with cable is in the living room, and each bedroom has a smaller TV. Wireless high speed internet service is furnished. The dining room table seats eight easily with extra tables in the living room and the glassed-in porch. A modern well equipped kitchen (spices included) helps make meals and entertaining a breeze. Laundry room offers a washer and dryer on site. A second refrigerator offers extra convenience. Our Property and THE LAKE!: Outside towards the lake you will find a relaxing 3 person swing, a 25' x 25' brick paved patio area, two BBQ grills, picnic table, portable fire pit and comfortable wrought-iron patio furniture, including 10 chairs and two additional round tables. An American flag flying high overlooks an awesome beach and swimming area. The beach is furnished with additional chairs for sunning. The sandy, rock-free swim area tapers gently from shore to the deeper water. Our private dock runs full length from the patio, across the sand, to the lake, with 96' extending out on the water. Room for docking a boat (up to ~24') or other water toys. This side of the lake usually receives a breeze, so few bugs are ever present. The wind coming through the trees can truly be glorious, and the sunsets are often breathtaking, just like in the movies!

About Richard Peters
Our grandparents built the original cottage on Otsego Lake in 1940. They enjoyed hunting, fishing, swimming and picking blueberries, and introduced vacation lakefront living to our parents and our family as the generations passed. The cottage expanded, adding beds and creature comforts. We retained the great old stone fireplace (now gas) and knotty pine beams throughout the main living areas. Our family now enjoys terrific boating, excellent snowmobiling, great golf and awesome skiing whenever we visit. Gaylord grew up too, and now offers all types of restaurants, shopping, kid’s attractions and a new movie theater, all five miles away or less. Our cottage is in the middle of Gaylord's 'Golf Mecca' for summer fans of the game, and for the winter enthusiasts, we typically receive over 180 inches of snow annually due to our location in the Gaylord 'Snow Belt'.

Great place for little ones!
We just got home from our stay here and loved it! We stayed with some family and had children ranging in ages from 4-12. This place was perfect for them. My 8 year old was actually in tears when we finally had to leave. They LOVED being all together in the kids room and I loved that there was a bedroom connected to that room so that I could be close by if my littlest ones needed anything. The property is well maintained and the home clean and well stocked. The family room is large, but what's really neat is there's an all season porch connected to it. So when it rained, the adults could sit and talk on the porch while the kids were watching movies in the family room. The dining room table is big. I'd say 8-10 for seating. Plenty of room for Euchre tournaments and Spoons/other card games for the kids! Our favorite thing about this property though, hands down, had to be the beach. There's a nice big sandy area for the kids to play and build sandcastles and the water is shallow enough for the even a very young child to sit and play. It's shallow a pretty long way out too. At the very end of the dock, which is long, is where the water was finally over my older children's heads. Richard and Nancy are great to work with! They communicate promptly and thoroughly and are there if needed during your stay, but really leave you to enjoy your vacation with your family without being intrusive. Any runners out there, take the outside circle and then run down and back past the party store and you'll have a 1 mile loop! It's such a nice peaceful run. We would definitely stay here again!
We appreciate the kind comments! You touched on many of our favorite reasons that make our cottage special for our family. The large "Bunk Room" with separate bath room. The large windowed porch that really lets you "Hear" the rain (and See it coming across Otsego Lake). And the great beach. Nice sand that slowly tapers in the water - great for all ages. Rock and stone free. You are also a great communicator. Base on your email the day you departed, we investigated our porch roof and found a small seam area that had failed. It will be repaired this week, as our family will arrive tomorrow. Finally, sister Nancy always likes to see the cookie shout out!
Hope you consider becoming another repeat customer!
Awesome Classic Michigan-Style Cabin!
The place is bigger than expected and would suit a larger group without problem. The cabin was clean and had everything we needed. The owner(s) went above and beyond in assisting with all our inquiries and were extremely helpful. I would definitely stay here again. Thanks again.
Thanks for your kind review, Mike!
With four BR that will sleep 12, our cottage has handled a variety of vacationers both winter and summer. Glad the snow cooperated in support of your snowmobile getaway traveling all the way from Tennessee! Gaylord snowmobile trail systems are conveniently less than a minute away from the cottage. Hope you enjoyed the big stone fireplace (now gas) each evening, too. Richard
Well loved cottage with a Great Lake Location
You can tell this is a well loved family cottage. It is warm and welcoming. A well stocked kitchen made meal prep a snap. Comfortable beds and couches. Great view of the lake with good ice fishing. The extra parking across the street was essential for our snowmobile trailers. Great communication from
The owners. Would definitely stay there again.
Thanks for your nice review! Our family has been vacationing on Otsego Lake for over three generations! Our grandparents built in 1940 and have remodeled twice to expand sleeping capacity and update the kitchen. This Spring, we are excited to replace and upgrade our entire dock, over the beach and the water. Glad to hear the extra off-street parking for vehicles and trailers met your needs, too. Hope you can return during the summer/fall to enjoy our sandy beach!
Great rustic and roomy cottage!
Stayed here with some friends to go ice fishing. The place is spacious and provides a great location on Otsego Lake. The property owners are extremely helpful and kind. No complaints by me. I would recommend that you bring a Chromecast or streaming device if you want to watch media other than what's on cable.
Thanks for your kind review. Glad you enjoyed our cottage, and overall accommodations met your needs. We appreciate your recommendation, and will check into some kind of Streaming Device ASAP!
Hope you return for a different season, to really experience Otsego Lake and our terrific beach and waterfront!
Cottage was good for large group
We had 9 guys up for a Thanksgiving weekend and the cottage was great. Price was reasonable; Otsego Lake is very pretty with great sunsets.
Thanks for your review! With 4 BR and 8 beds, our cottage has flexibility for many vacationers. Gaylord has added quite a variety of interesting restaurants over the last few years. We welcome the upcoming winter for skiing and snowmobiling, too.
Thank you for your repeat business! Richard
Great location for family and/or friends to get together
Nice cottage style house on a great spot on the lake. Plenty of room in this house. Stayed for a fall weekend and it couldn't have been better. Richard provided directions to local restaurants, things to do, etc., and even arranged for the weather to be 75 degrees in the third week of October! We will definitely come back again, hopefully for winter and/or summer activities. Plenty of restaurants in Gaylord, or everything that you need is available in the house for you to cook your meals yourself. My only suggestion is that it would be nice if there was a small supply of firewood for guests. However, it was easy to buy firewood nearby.
I appreciate your positive and constructive review!
We welcome you back this winter, as our cottage is a GREAT base camp for snow skiing and snowmobiling. The Gaylord restaurant scene keeps expanding, with no less than four new venues to explore this year. We normally have ample firewood each weekend, but occasionally demand outstrips supply. Apologies!
Just 5 Miles South of Gaylord on the E Side of Otsego Lake. Blueberry picking and LIVE elk park nearby. The Ausable River offers great canoeing and tubing only 20 minutes away. Other Activities: Shopping, Boating, Snowboarding, Wildlife Viewing, Miniature Golf, Kayaking, Cross Country Skiing, Snowmobiling
