We are two semi-retired professionals who live in lovely Vancouver BC and travel extensively, but we always love coming home to Zihuatanejo, where the weather is warm and the food amazing, whether shopping for fish or produce at El Mercado Campesino or dining alfresco at one of many many owner operated restaurants serving fresh and delicious fare.
The Owner purchased this house in 2007
1. Breathtaking views of the bay and the city on one side and the ocean on the other.
2. Constant warm ocean breezes throughout the house.
3. Perfect seclusion with proximity to Zihuatenejo and Ixtapa.
4. Opportunity to have tropical and desert gardens.
Ease of access for wheeled suitcases and wheelchairs. Most view casas cling to side hills and have many, many stairs. Casa Linda sits on top!
What an awesome place! Linda has created a paradise that welcomes everyone. Casa Linda is a beautiful palapa style home with amazing architecture and art work. Add to that a spectacular view, gourmet meals, sunshine and light breeze and you have a perfect vacation retreat.
Casa Linda and Zihuatanejo truly allow you to do whatever you want to do - when you want to do it.
The Nissan X-Trail is a nice touch that allows for very comfortable travel - whether to the supermarket or surf beach.
It is great beautiful view and the pool is fabulous. We had a great time
This was our first time at Casa Linda and we loved every minute. We took a taxi into town rather than attempt the walk. We are planning our return. Thank you very much!
The house is beautiful and the views fantastic. Casa Linda was a great place to stay. Everything was perfect! We had a wonderful time and hope to be back soon.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Casa Linda. The views from the lounge chairs across the pool and out to the Pacific, and from the comfortable living area across the bay to Zihua, are simply breathtaking. The open-air living/dining/kitchen area is surrounded by these views as well as lovely plants and has a comfortable, natural feel. The sleeping areas are enclosed and can be air conditioned or cooled by opening sliding glass doors and closing sliding screens. The property manager took us to and from the airport, answered all our questions, and arranged a boat trip from the nearby beach across the bay. Our kids were happy swimming in the pool and enjoying the house for hours at a time, but we also went into Zihua several times, which is easy and inexpensive to do by calling a taxi. We rented the car one day and drove up to Troncones, a lovely small village on the ocean -- tide pools and shells are plentiful on the beaches. Highly recommended!
From the minute we walked into Casa Linda we were in heaven. The pictures really don't do it justice - the house is situated on a hilltop with unbelievable views to Zihua Bay and to the open ocean. The house was thoughtfully built with no detail overlooked: the kitchen was very well-equipped, the bathrooms are large with great shower heads and the beds are comfortable. The built-in shutters in the bedrooms allow for a breeze and keep the views. The staff is wonderful and unobtrusive. The gardens are beautiful too! Our kids couldn't stay out of the pool and I had a hard time dragging myself off of the super comfy built-in couch overlooking the bay. We watched frigate birds, pelicans and vultures flying overhead and happily watched the sunset over the ocean every night we were there.
We decided not to use the car and took taxis to and from the property and never had a problem. It does help to know a little Spanish and to pay close attention to the turns to get to the property once you get inside the gates - but if you don't speak Spanish you can always have the driver consult with the guard for directions.
We've traveled to several different locations in Mexico but this was our first time in Zihuatanejo and Casa Linda was the perfect landing point. 10 days was not enough - I would give it 10 stars if I could!
Just back from a week long stay at Casa Linda. As you can see through the photos, the house is gorgeous. The shared living areas are so spacious and the bedrooms are each incredibly comfortable. We were traveling with our 9 month old son; the house is built like a fortress and we never had to worry about him keeping other guests up during the night :) Linda's administrator, Ivan, was incredibly accommodating and the staff that came by 3x during the week to clean the house and the pool were nice and professional. We felt very pampered!
I should add that it helps to know a bit of Spanish in order to navigate your way to Casa Linda. Given the size of our group, we opted to get a van from the airport (Linda's driver could only accommodate 4) and it was a bit of a struggle to get there. The driver was only vaguely familiar with Monte Cristo, and once in the gate he took a wrong turn on the way to the property. We ended up far down a totally undeveloped road. In hindsight we should've known sooner that we were going the wrong way, but none of us speak much Spanish so we couldn't understand the directions given by the gate attendant. The roads in the property are a bit disorienting and it took a few times driving through to be sure we were headed the right way.
I would also say that while Casa Linda is a quick drive to town, without a car you can feel pretty isolated. Our airport transfer didn't give us much confidence about using taxis throughout our stay, so we ended up renting Linda's SUV for a couple of days. There's not much to walk to so if you'd like to venture away from the house (for groceries or to go to the beach), a car is absolutely necessary.
Overall I think everyone in our group would stay at Casa Linda again in a heartbeat.
