|Minimum Stay||4 nights|
Located in the Boca Paila section of the Sian Kaan Reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, luxurious Casa Maya Kaan is situated on one of the most pristine and beautiful beaches in the area. The home is exquisitely designed for groups of families and friends who want to get away from it all. The home is furnished throughout using traditional woods and Oaxacan fabrics with attention to comfortable family living and gracious detail. It has every modern amenity including Satellite TV, internet, XBox 360, Wii, DVD, and a large movie collection. The chef designed kitchen was created for intimate family gatherings / large scale entertaining and has all top appliances including sub zero, viking, wolf, etc.
Besides an impeccable beach, Casa Maya Kaan also has the distinct advantage of direct access to Caapechen Lagoon and is within walking distance from the renowned Boca Paila fishing club. (famous for its bonefish tarpon, snook, barracuda, jack crevalle and cubera snapper).
The soft blue waters of the Carribean Sea.: You can walk out your back door at any time day or night and celebrate the soft sand and vivid blue waters of the Caribbean Sea. There are Kayaks available for anyone wishing to paddle out to the coral reef, (the second largest in the world). There are plenty of conch and lobster as well as other exciting things to see at the reef. At night the moon can sometimes be so bright that you can literally play a game of football on the beach. (Incredible and quite stunning). Perfect for a fun evening walk as well as a romantic time for couples. We have plenty of flashlights for those who want to look for crabs, (lots of fun - especially with children).
Every Wednesday and Saturday there is a man that sells fantastic Tamales, fresh produce, fruit, homemade desserts and juices off the back of his truck. He passes in front of the house at approximately 11:00 a.m. It is fun to stand at the back of his truck and order food. He also sells candy for the kids.
The Lagoon : Across the dirt road is the lagoon with a pier that you can fish from. It is also a wonderful place to just take in the magnificent vastness of the lagoon. There are crocodiles in the lagoon so swimming is not recommended. However, there is a Welcome center that is 2 kilometers, (1 1/4 mile), that offers a boat trip through the lagoon in which you can actually swim with manatees!! In fact the boat will pick you up at the dock if you desire. The mayan couple can arrange this. They do not speak English but there is a small English to Spanish translator machine in the kitchen that can help you get some dialogue going back and forth.
The Boca Paila fishing club and Punta Allen: The Boca Paila fishing club is the oldest in the area. Day trips with top guides are easily arranged. The prices are available on their website. The club is within walking distance from Casa Maya Kaan and can be a fun destination for dinner one evening. You have to call in advance for reservations.
At the end of the dirt road, (22 km - 13.5 miles from Casa Maya Kaan), is a little fishing village called Punta Allen. It is one heck of a journey to get to but could be a fun day trip to go and see. Streets of sand and plenty of fresh lobster. Great boat rides through the Caribbean and lagoon. Lots of wildlife!
Cesiak is 4 miles north of Casa Maya Kaan and is also a fun destination for any meal and you can swim in the Ocean while you wait for your food. The food is great and the vews from the roof top are exceptional!! Great place for evening drinks.
The only bad thing about CMK is that we had To leave. The home, the staff, the food, the owner, the property management - everything was perfect. Had a birthday gathering with 8 girlfriends and they spoiled us rotten. It is out of the way, in all the best ways. If you want close proximity to t-shirt shops and Senór Frogs, this is not your spot. If you want a luxurious, relaxing escape from reality where the jungle meets the sea, quit looking and book this house. Cannot wait to return.
Casa Maya Ka'an is an emerald in a sea of turquoise! My family & I spent some time @ this tranquil, beautiful residence over Spring Break. It's off the tourist grid & hidden deep within the Sian Ka'an Bio Reserve. I think I saw a couple one time walk across our beach the whole time I was there. It's an architecturally designed, "green" home that draws its power from solar panels & a windmill. Water is collected in a tank from rain & it all perfectly blends in with the intricate detail of architecture. There is a full staff to tend to your every need- especially cooking & beverages. Save the hike into town for dinner, because Marisol's cooking is second to none! You can't find better even in the trendy restaurants of Tulum & Playa. Even though the home is solar & windmill powered, it still brings all the comforts of home; LED-TV, Sub-Zero fridge, Wolf cooking appliances, A/C, stereo & landscape lighting. Linens, pots, pans, you name it, it's already there. The owner even stocks a great DVD selection- just in case you want to cool off in front the the big TV. The beach access is a simple stroll out the back door & down a path through palms that leads to the sea. I think the walk to the beach is just short of one minute! Once on the beach, you'll find all things necessary to enjoy a sporty day; volley-ball, kayak, snorkeling or nice chaise loungers to just kick back. If you want to be a spectator & avoid the sun, there's plenty of shade under their Palapa's on the beach, equipped with a full mattress...just in case you need a nap. Another member of the staff, German (his name), is full of ideas for excursions. Rather it's fishing or touring the Sian Ka'an Bio Preserve (highly recommended with the canal float where you free-float down a crystal clear, freshwater canal that leads to the sea), or, maybe you just want a fresh margarita- German's the man! The highlight of your day may just be the evening sunset on the back patio, amidst the palms, while perching atop a comfy outdoor couch. German & Marisol hover nearby whipping up margaritas & tasty Mayan delicacies making the patio the place to be seated & seen!
How I needed the rest!!! Casa Maya Kaan was pure indulgence – I am spoiled for life. Luxurious accommodations surrounded by a lush, tropical setting. Fabulous meals prepared by a darling Mayan couple who were always happy to service us. We actually wanted to adopt them…wayyy to precious and sweet!! I leave this place with a heavy heart but know that my return is not too far off in the distant future. We are physically back at home however our hearts and thoughts remain in Tulum. Wow.…what a place!!
I am an Italian Travel agent and, thanks to my job, I have been able to travel to many places around the world. This vacation to Casa Maya Kaan has been THE MOST PLEASANT EXPERIENCE I HAVE HAD IN MY LIFE!
It is important to say that this is not a standard all inclusive / massive vacation, if that is what you are looking for, it is not the right place.
Casa Maya Kaan is located into the Sian Kaan National Reserve: the unpaved road that takes you from the main entrace of Sian Kaan to the House is surrounded by a lush vegetation. Birds and butterflies were chasing my car and they were welcoming us to their wonderful world, where no cell phones, no agendas or traffic or stress will interrupt the Karma until the end of my stay.
Once arrived at the property, Marisol and German, the couple that takes care of the house, greeted us with sincere smiles. They are very genuine and simple people and, throughout our stay, they went above and beyond our expectations.
The house is magnificent and it is provided with the most updated comforts and technologies: a 60' Plasma screen TV in the living area, even a Wii and Xbox! Blue Ray DVD player and an extensive Movie Library with probably over 100 different choices! Not even at Block Buster! Led Tv's in every bedrooms with Sky Tv! And, if you like to cook, the Kitchen has the biggest & most modern appliances. Much better than some restaurants I have worked!
But the best overall, the house is eco-friendly! Solar panels, an Aeolian Generator, low consume light bulbs and air conditioning, just to mention a few!
The decor is impeccable and very appropriate: the colors used are matching perfectly with the environment. white, red, gray and blue with Colonial Mexican accents.
This is with no doubt A BEACH FRONT HOUSE, No matter were you are, you have an amazing view of the beach - even when you brush your teeth!
The truth is I felt so blessed to be able to be there, in that peace of heaven.. It felt so great to touch that white soft sand, to breathe that pure and fresh air.. that left me completely speechless! It made me realize that I have never been on vacation, until then! I am sure you have never been in a real secluded tropical beach! No one else, just you, and the sun, the wind, the crabs and the birds - if this is your dream, make it come true at Casa Maya Kaan.
My only complain is that it was too hard to back to "civilization" after all this: I cried like a baby - believe me! God bless you!
The actual home and property was beyond everything that is described in the listing. So beautiful, so peaceful and absolutely one of the best vacations I have ever experienced.
The property was brilliantly maintained and clean and more importantly, the house is so incredibly elegant while at the same time cozy and so very comfortable.
There was lots to do including adventures in the lagoon and floating down the river , starting out in a quiet jungle near a ruin.
The boat on the property is manned by one of the house staff who is available (with his sweet wife), to make sure you are always comfortable and well-fed!
I couldn't wait to swim in the beautiful carribean and did so every day and at night we visited the many different choices of restaurants. Wherever we did eat, the food was super. There was a wonderful trip in the polaris to the town of Tulum where I did some great shopping and sightseeing, but couldn't wait to get back to my lovely home away from home.
I don't think that words can express how wonderful it all was, and of course, I have recommended this home to all my friends and family.
