About owner/property manager
I work all over the world, but love the call the Western Carolinas my home. I grew up in Florida, but moved to Hendersonville in 2006. Waking up to 60 degree mornings in June lets me know I made the right decision.
owner/property manager purchased this Cottage in 2015
Why owner/property manager chose Laurel Park
I fell in love with this property the moment I saw it. The estate was built in the early 1900s. I have a weakness for the character of older homes. With a separate maids quarters and guest cottage, the property is great for hosting. I pulled up green(lovely color choice of the seventies)carpet and restored the original hardwood floors. I had fun finding vintage furniture pieces that came together to create a cozy and classy living space.
What makes this Cottage unique
There is a fenced in dog run (see pic) that can be used to allow your furry friend to run around. The neighborhood roads are lightly traveled and great for walks through this early 1900s community.

Well worth it.
This small cottage has a lot of charm and is in a great location. But is the hosts that we appreciate more. We had some special and unanticipated needs and Diane and Michael were very generous to accommodate them. We really didn’t mind the cramped toilet location (just sit sideways), but parking was problematic as we had More stuff (more than most guests I think) to load and unload from our SUV, which would not fit in the parking spot. A kind neighbor allowed us to park on his property, so we didn’t need to park in the host’s driveway as they offered.
Cottage is very cozy and the hosts have made the best use of the space available. Prior reviews in the hosts doing an exceptional job in communication, assistance and welcome were spot on. Fresh bread on the counter and essentials, coffee/soap/and condiments were greatly appreciated. Bedding was very comfortable and, for early risers, we actually found ourselves sleeping in an extra hour. As reviewed earlier, the bathroom is very small and requires some contortion for use. We were very pleased overall and my only recommendation would be to include some specific directions to the cottage. Google maps and Mapquest both took us on roundabout approaches and it was the end in of our first day before we learned how to travel from downtown Hendersonville out 5th West and had only two simple turns. Hosts are very accommodating and pleasant to work with.
Great cozy cottage
This was our 4th stay at the cottage and it gets better each time. The area is perfect, nice and quiet. Diane & Mike are wonderful hosts and we highly recommend the cottage. We will be going back soon.
Brings back memories of our life in the Blue Ridge.
Home away from home
Before I arrived Mike and Diane made me feel welcomed. They gave exact instructions on where to park, inquired about what temperature I'd like the cottage on arrival and when I hit the door the smell of fresh baked bread filled the air. The cottage was well equipped and very clean. Toiletries in the bath, fresh cut flowers on the dining table, roses by the bed and fresh eggs, butter and coffee in the adorable kitchen. I arrived on a Sunday for an extended stay, while working a travel job at a local hospital. The host were always available, but not intrusive. There is also a fenced area below the cottage for pets and I had intentions to bring my dog. However we had two senior dogs in palliative care, so my husband had to stay behind and never experienced the hospitality (we'll be back!) I can't say enough positive about the attention to detail and all the extras that make this cottage "just right". Situated in an area close to all amentities, but in a park like setting. There are at least four waterfalls within walking distance, with neighbors nearby, but not intrusive. I was able to experience several seasons during my 13 week stay. When the threat of ice/snow was eminent Mike provided salt and a snow shovel (never needed) Also an umbrella hung by the door when needed. There are wall units for heat and to my surprise air conditioning, which was needed the last few days of my stay. A ceiling fan over the bed was not needed until my last week, which made the cottage comfortable. My daughter and grands came to visit the last few days, with all of us comfortable (sleeps 4) Diane and their son came to help with the sleeper sofa & show me the simple controls for the air. The grands enjoyed ice cream on the back deck, had popcorn/snacks while watching a movie and played Uno (provided). Cable was included, so I enjoyed an overdose of HGTV while in my "she shed" and not one single moment in 13 weeks did I lose my WiFi signal.
Without further ado, I highly recommend this quaint little cottage and look forward to our next visit. I have traveled extensively and this adventure is at the top of my list. Hospitality and a personal touch make this cozy cottage the perfect choice. Thank you Mike, Diane & Warner~ Ciao!
Cozy and sweetly charming!
This is a really great and affordable space for one or two - we happened to be two humans in the company of our Golden Retriever - doubly delightful that it's pet friendly (right down to there being a pair of feeding/watering bowls for the four-footed guests). The location is quite beautiful because the property is immediately adjacent to a lot of walking opportunities, both via narrow winding roads through nearly undeveloped woodland and within 300 yards of a very pretty rhododendron park that includes a lake. It's also just a few minutes' drive from downtown historic Hendersonville. Perfect! The hosts are unexpectedly generous - we found milk, juice, bottled water, two eggs, fresh apples (local, no doubt), butter, coffee, tea, and even the dining table set in anticipation of our evening arrival. We didn't use everything that was available, but it made us feel extra welcomed to have things so thoughtfully "ready" for us. The space is small, but that's also what makes it cozy and homey, and it does have everything one could want. Frankly, the ONLY reason for four stars instead of five is a strictly personal thing: firm foam pillows are simply not comfortable for sleeping in our minds. We usually DO travel with our own; however, we forgot them this time, and the sleeping pillows ARE firm foam rubber ones - good to know for anyone else who might want to be prepared. A sweet spot definitely worth a return visit (if the owners will have us), and we'll remember our own pillows next time.
