About Kim Zdanowicz

I grew up in a home just a short distance from this property. My grandfather was one of the carpenters who built this home in the 1980's and I have always loved it. My husband and I are so honored to be the caretakers!

Kim Zdanowicz purchased this lodge in 2013

Why Kim Zdanowicz chose Pennsylvania

To us, this house feels like family. One thing we have loved to see this past year are extended families gathering and reconnecting.

Fabulous place for six gals to get away for a long weekend!

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed the space to spread out, but also all be together. Kim has thought of everything needed to make our stay as comfortable as possible.

We enjoyed sitting on the deck watching the wildlife, including deer, eagles, and tons of song birds.

We were very close to the bike trail, hiking trails, and the lovely town of Wellsboro.

The Black Bear Lodge would be a great place for a family reunion or simply a small family vacation.

Secluded and spacious home!

  • 4 of 5

This huge house had plenty of room for our large family of 10! Set back off the road, but still close to town life! You have to eat at Tony's Italian restaurant and stop by Peggy's Candies! We also loved the little shack that had delicious icecream and a book store with 2 friendly kitties roaming.

As for the town's people, all were extremely welcoming of our 8 children!

Would come again!

Wonderful mountain vacation! Beautiful views from deck {rainbows, stars, deer and even a black bear)

  • 4 of 5

Enjoyed spending time with all the family in this spacious kid friendly lodge. Plenty of room for all. Setting very remote yet close to the grand canyon of Pa. and Wellsboro. Would love to return another time!

Beautiful home and very secluded!

  • 4 of 5

Overall we really enjoyed our stay at the Black Bear Lodge. We did have some trouble finding the place because the GPS dropped us off in the middle of a field basically after an unexpected detour. All in all it was a great experience aside from a few hiccups. There was a huge wasp nest outside the main bathroom window. It would have been appreciated that that had been taken care of prior to our arrival. There were actual wasp flying around in the bathroom. Another problem was for such a big house there was not a lot of serving dishes for entertaining larger parties. If you are thinking you might need it (kitchen items) just bring it. We didn't even have a working can opener, there was a broke one and one that was so worn it couldn't even pop through the can. We had to run out to the store to get one, don't worry though we donated that can opener to the house so you are covered! Aside from those issues we really enjoyed our time at Black Bear Lodge and would recommend it to anyone thinking about staying in the area. Also there are only two air conditioner units for the entire house. We were not bothered by it, but just wanted to bring it up in the review just incase you are a hot body that needs a crisp house. There were large ceiling fans that made it quite nice for all of us!
