About the property

Three Bedrooms, Three Baths, Private Pool, Sleeps 7

Welcome to One Palm Hill, newly remodeled in the summer of 2015. This sunny house is located on a hilltop just a mile from the town of Governors Harbor and a ten-minute walk (or one-minute drive) from spectacular Twin Coves Beach. Built by the island’s top custom home builder and decorated by its premier interior designer, One Palm Hill is stylish and comfortable. The elegantly decorated great room with stunning 24-inch tile floors has lounge seating for 6 and features a flat-screen satellite TV. The dining area can seat up to as many as eight at the table. Four more diners can be seated on stools at the kitchen counter. The fully equipped island kitchen features a gas range, stainless steel appliances, and decorative concrete counter tops. There is a laundry room off the great room with a washer and dryer. There is also a LPG generator which comes in handy here on Eleuthera.

One Palm Hill has three bedrooms, each with an en-suite bath. Each bedroom also has a flat-screen cable TV. It’s furnished with a four-poster king bed. One guest suite is also furnished with a king. The other guest bedroom has twin beds that can convert to a king, as well as a day bed that can sleep a 7th guest. This guest bedroom’s en-suite bath can also be accessed from the hall. All bathrooms are elegantly finished in tile and tumbled marble. In addition to three bathrooms, there is an outdoor shower.

Outside the house has a wrap-around porch shaded by pergolas, a lovely spot for enjoying a drink, sunning, or grilling. Beside it is a beautiful new pool from which you can see the ocean at a distance.

One Palm Hill is loaded with amenities including an in-ground private pool, outdoor shower, AC throughout, high speed internet with WIFI, three TVs with cable (including two smart TV’s), landline phone and cell phone, Wii system with games, Xbox system with games, large movie library with over 100 movies, iPod dock, books, beach chairs and umbrellas, pool floats and beach toys, snorkel gear, high chair, pack n play, gas grill, and a back up generator.

Governors Harbor, the main town on the island is just two minutes away by car. Governors Harbor has a charming collection of 19th century homes and churches overlooking its historic harbor. Buy fresh fish and lobster every afternoon from fisherman at the town dock, or visit the recently restored Haynes Library, which dates from 1897, for the weekly coffee hour for foreign residents and tourists. . Governors Harbour has grocery stores, restaurants, liquor stores, two banks with ATMs, a bakery, gift shops, and a medical clinic. Friday night Fish Fry in Governors Harbor, a street/beach party that brings together all the tourists and locals with food, drink, and dancing in the street, is not to be missed.

Eleuthera is most famous for its 100 miles of spectacular, deserted beaches. The island, home to just 8000 residents, is completely safe any time of the day or night. Enjoy the rare experience of picking up hitch-hikers and leaving your keys in the car wherever you go. The snorkeling, diving, and fishing on the island are world class. Boating, surfing, and other water sports are also popular. You can rent power boats, sailboats, sea kayaks, bikes. You can have a charter captain take you out for excursions of various types. There is excellent sightseeing as well. Eleuthera has vast caves, cliffs, a bottomless ocean hole, many unique beaches, historic churches and 19th century homes, and small villages to explore. Come enjoy One Palm Hill and experience all our island has to offer.

Perfect for a Couple's Getaway

  • 5 of 5

This house is possibly the best HomeAway property I've rented! The house is EXACTLY like the pictures. They have thought of everything you need for a beach vacation and the house is decorated so well, too. My husband and I and two other couples had a fabulous time. The housekeeper was responsive to all our questions and management helped us find a reliable car rental person. Hire a chef for at least one night! The beaches are fantastic! We will be back!

too good to be true ....

  • 5 of 5

this was the first time we decided to spend our winter holiday in a private villa instead of luxury resort and this is gonna be the last time , because it never gonna happen anymore to find out somewhere else in eleuthera such a great villa !

villa has a special taste : i don't know if comes from forniture, total white style , view of ocean and carribean sea from the garden or the alabama style entrance but reality is that we extremely enjoyed this place .

More luxury doesn't fit with the style island which is for people who loves exploring beaches and wildness all around .

Special thanks to the ladies who are managing one palm hill .

wonderful gem of a beach house

  • 5 of 5

this is a great property -- although early jan. in the Bahamas is quite cool & windy.

we had 5 adults & 2 kids comfortably in this chic and comfy vacation home. (nanny in kids' rm w/ twin beds)

views are beautiful & the home is spacious, airy & stocked with whatever you might need for the beach.

lovely!!

Owner's Response: We're delighted that you enjoyed the house! I'm sorry you had some cool weather. That is actually not typical. You are more likely to get warm sunny weather in January. Not hot, but warm, with highs around 80 or a bit higher.

Perfect in Every Way

  • 5 of 5

One Palm Hill is a stunningly lovely property that was the PERFECT place for our family of five to spend their first Tropical Christmas. The house itself is flooded with light, beautifully laid out, with much attention and thought put into decorating it with style while keeping it homey and comfortable. Every detail was considered, and the place was immaculate. The entire property was so beautiful, from the pool area to the landscaping that provided the perfect amount of privacy, it was like being at our own resort. The kitchen was top of the line and well stocked besides, the bathrooms well designed and attractive, the bedrooms all comfortable---each with their own bathroom, and each a corner location with two big windows for good circulation, individual airconditioners for maximum comfort, I could go on and on.

In addition to being one of the most attractive and comfortable houses we have ever rented, I was struck with how unusually well cared for we felt in terms of the hospitality that we extended to us, not only by the property management company and the caretaker for the house, but the owner herself! At every step of the rental process I felt completely connected and supported, which is particuularly nice when you are going out of the country. With their help I was even able to arrange to have a live Christmas tree delivered to the house just before our arrival---something I could never have managed myself from so far away, and which meant a huge deal to my children.

Finally, for those considering the island of Eleuthera, I can recommend it heartily to anyone who is looking for an authentic Bahamanian experience---few tourists, breathtaking, deserted beaches just minutes away by foot or car, a friendly local community. If you don't want to see potholes or a few empty lots, if you want chain restaurants or brightly lit supermarkets, if you need 4-lane highways and your phone to work 100% of the time, this might not be the island for you, but if you are open to a little of unpredictability, I can assure you that I cannot imagine a more beautiful, peaceful, gracious base of operations for your Eleutheran adventure than One Palm Hill!

Obviously new with top-notch maintenance. Simply a beautiful home in paradise.

  • 5 of 5

Can't say enough about how nice the home is. The beds were very comfortable! They have air conditioning in all of the rooms. The furniture is new and contemporary, marble and wood flooring (wow), everything you need in the kitchen, layout of the home is perfect and a pool/bbq to end up the day. The shed is loaded with beach play toys.

We loved Tippy's bar and grill and the beach there is great on a calm day. The Sunset Inn had a nice lunch. Many restaurants were closed during our visit (down season) but we would always find one hidden here or there. The Friday night Fish Fry in town was a fun experience. Take the trip to the beach at the Lighthouse, it is worth every wrong turn! Enjoy your ocean view at the end of the day.

Wow, Just wow!

  • 5 of 5

Wow! Where do I even begin? This place was everything I thought it would be and more. To say that it far exceeded our expectations, would be an understatement. The love and attention to detail that went into this home is evident everywhere you look. From the fully stocked kitchen, martini glasses, wine glasses, and a vast assortment of others to choose from, recipe books, guides to island beaches, carefully planned binder with all home and island info, snorkeling gear, coolers, beach/scuba supplies, to shower scrubs in every bathroom, washer/dryer, & a cell phone that could be used on the island (more time could be purchased atgas station). Oh yeah, Wi-fi... did I mention wi-fi? This place had it all. And when I say immaculate and pristine, I mean it! There wasn't a spec of dust to be found ANYWHERE. One Palm Hill was a dream of aesthetics wrapped in functionality.

When we arrived, we were greeted by Carol, the caretaker. She was a phone call away, any time we needed her. And boy did we need her when we thought we lost keys to the house. (Someone forgot placing the keys in the beach chair... lol That may or may not have been me. I was having too much fun to remember) In any event, it was late evening and Carol had someone there for us within ten minutes of phoning her.

Now for the island. Oh, the island! 135 beaches (there's a great book in the house listing and rating all of them). We arrived late Friday afternoon, and headed over the the Friday Fish Fry, where we had a blast, eating, drinking, and dancing to a street deejay, who plays every Friday evening.

We explored the island and utilized the pool and home every day. And the people were great! Any time we stopped, someone stopped in seconds to ask if we needed help. In fact, on our way to Lighthouse Beach (AN ABSOLUTE MUST), we made a wrong turn (why don't men ever listen?! lol) and met George Bullard, a Southern Eleuthera local. Turns out he owns a bar, and who could resist a cold Kalik (or two lol), the native island beer? I don't even drink beer, and loved it, and loved George's company. He directed us later to his friend Rosalie (my name too) at Northside restaurant. Food was amazing! Again, so was she.

One Palm Hill, and the people on this island make you feel happy, alive, and free. Eleuthera is after all, The Island of Freedom.

I can't imagine staying anywhere else on the island.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this home.
