Sorbonne Apartment Rental Photos and Description

Apartment, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-3)

Welcome to our family home on rue Maitre Albert! This one-bedroom apartment is loaded with ancient Parisian charm and has been lovingly prepared for your visit to Paris, and we hope you will enjoy it.

The apartment is just steps from the magnificent Notre Dame cathedral and the river Seine, and in the other direction you'll find Place Maubert with its fresh food market three times per week, two supermarkets, cafes, restaurants and everything else you could hope for in a typically Parisian neighborhood.

The apartment features a new large queen bed (160 cm x 200 cm), as well as a small daybed in the bedroom area for lounging or for accommodating a child traveling with you. There is also a small armoire where you can unpack your belongings.

The spacious living area has a dining table for 4, a writing desk, a TV with a few English news channels, a telephone with free international calling to many destinations, and WiFi internet (with a modem you can plug directly into with an Ethernet cable if you prefer). The living area also has a closet with space for you to hang clothing and store your suitcases.

The full bathroom has a toilet, sink and a large bathtub with a wall-mounted shower attachment. The sink area has a medicine cabinet above it for storage of personal toiletries.

The kitchen has a bar area with two bar stools and is a great place to hang out and talk while cooking up a great meal with fresh food purchased in the neighborhood. The kitchen has all the important appliances: a refrigerator with a small freezer; a clothes washer/dryer combination unit; a dishwasher; a two-burner electric induction stove; an oven; a microwave and lovely granite countertops.

Towels and bed linens are provided, along with basic items like bath soap, clothes washing detergent, coffee, salt and pepper, and many other items to help you feel at home.

The apartment is located on the first floor French (second floor to North Americans) and does NOT have an elevator. You will need to walk up one flight of stairs (pictured).

Rue Maitre Albert is a small one-way street, right by the river Seine and Place Maubert. You will find this neigborhood has just about everything you could need! Our favorite is the fresh market three times per week just at the end of the street at Place Maubert.

The old-world charm of neighborhood is unquestionable, and for travelers visiting Paris, we think you'll find our apartment to be a fantastic home base!

About Owner/Manager

This apartment was purchased by me and my husband and our daughter. We love to spend time here, but can't be here year-round, so we're happy to share it with travelers who we hope will enjoy Paris and the 5th arrondissement as much as we do!

Owner/Manager purchased this apartment in 2005

Why Owner/Manager chose 5th Arrondissement Latin Quarter

Rue Maitre Albert is our favorite street in Paris!

What makes this apartment unique

We have always loved rue Maitre Albert, with its proximity to absolutely everything - like the great market just at the end of the street at Place Maubert (three times per week). The charm of neighborhood is unquestionable, and for travelers visiting Paris, it's a fantastic home base!

Great location - comfortable accommodation

  • 5 of 5

Ruben and his team provide a very comfortable apartment in a terrific location. The kitchen was well equiped, the washing machine/dryer was a big plus, and the furnishings were very attractive. Ruben runs a very professional operation. We were met on time and given all the support we needed.

Because you're in a busy part of the city, expect some noise in the evenings.

A great flat. We look forward to our next visit.

Good, but some drawbacks

  • 3 of 5

The location was great as well as the general condition of the apartment. Just a block from the river -- close to Metro station and food market. Nice kitchen and bathroom. Everything was clean. The main bed was great. The dining/living area was quaint, populated with interesting and antique items. Main complaint: It is advertised as accommodating more than two people, but the daybed for a third person was horrible -- nobody could comfortably sleep on the mattress. Only two of the four dining room chairs could be used. The other two were broken. The refrigerator was small -- the kind you would find in a college dorm. The freezer component needed to be defrosted --- much ice had accumulated, making it difficult to fit items in. Although the furnishings were unique and attractive, we found ourselves wishing we had more available shelf space.

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for your reservation! I am so happy you enjoyed your stay overall on rue Maitre Albert! We are aware the furnishings are antique and are not always practical for guests used to a more modern lifestyle. We do listen to our guests, and we want them to have an excellent experience. As a result of input from guests like you, we are replacing some furniture items this fall. I apologize for any inconveniences you may have encountered. We hope to welcome you back to Paris in the future! Many thanks, Ruben

Great location, beautiful apartment, great owner/manager!!!

  • 5 of 5

First off: we chose this apartment mostly based on location and price. Both were fantastic! An easy walk to the Siene River and Notre Dame. A moderate walk to the Louvre and other museums, ect. Plenty of great restaurants to choose from nearby and a good Italian/pizza place right out outside the door.

Getting to and from the apartment from the Orly or CDG airports cost approximately $85.€ with either a private limo service or an Uber Van.

Ruben, the manager, communicates well and was a pleasure to deal with.

The apartment is beautiful, and you could definitely stay of a week or longer. The beds were a little firm for our taste, but we found that to be the case across most of Europe. There are a minimal amount of stairs, but they are very wide and much easier to get luggage up and down than some places we have stayed... And we had plenty of luggage to haul up and down! The area felt relatively safe even at night.

Unless you despise hard beds, we highly recommend this place!

Love this Apartment

  • 5 of 5

This was our fourth time staying at this apartment. The location is excellent, it is well appointed, clean, everything you need is there . We have stayed in Paris before in Hotels, which is fine, but lacks the sense of actually living as a Parisian. If you want a true Paris experience, try this apartment, restaurants and cafes abound, you are a couple hundred yards (meters) from Notre Dame.

Excellent location !

  • 4 of 5

This property is in an excellent location in Paris -- very easy to access all parts of the city. We were there in July, and if it is hot, the apartment gets stuffy. A ceiling fan would be a great addition !

Paris Maitre Albert Apartment

  • 2 of 5

Well located, within walking distance of many Paris attractions, restaurants and bars.

The apartment is full of character, decorated with an antique style but cluttered with too many personal items of the owner, leaving no storage space for guests belongings. There was no wardrobe or chest of drawers. The condition of the furnishings was 'tired', sofa and chairs needing reupholstering or replacing. Kitchen and bathroom were good and apartment was clean.

Owner's Response: Dear Andrew, First and foremost, we thank you very much for your stay with us in Paris! We appreciate you taking the time to tell us about areas of improvement. The owner is French and many of the antique furnishings have belonged to her family for generations, so they precious to her. That said, we do our best to make guest comfort a priority, and as a consequence of your comments, we have communicated your concerns to her and will be replacing some furniture items to help bring a more modern aspect to the apartment. We do feel that the closet in the living area, while divided in two (with the back area for the owner), does allow for ample hanging space for guest clothing, in addition to the small armoire with drawers in the bedroom area. We thank you again for your reservation, and we hope to be able to welcome you back to Paris in the future! Sincerely, Ruben
