The Owner purchased this cabin in 2011
One of the reasons we decided to buy this property was because of the wonderful privacy and extraordinary views.
River fishing is available in town on the San Juan River. The quality waters of the San Juan below Navajo Lake is world renowned for the incredible trout fly fishing. Wolf Creek Ski area boasts the most snow in Colorado, with an average of over 600 inches per year!
The Wolf Creek Ski Area is about 20 miles away and the main roads are always kept clean. This ski area gets more snow than any other ski area in Colorado, on average.

Jason and Juliette are some of the niceSt people you could ever do business with. We had some issues with the 4 wheel drive in our truck. They graciously allowed us to use one of their pickups for the entire 4 day stay. Without that generosity we would have been stuck in the driveway.
As far as the cabin goes, it was absolutely the perfect romantic getaway. The wood stove cackling as you go to sleep in a quaint little log cabin made the entire experience. The views are also beyond amazing. It snowed almost 3 feet during the 4 days we were there. It made it truly a winter wonderland.
My wife and I wanted to spend some time together away in a peaceful mountain setting with close access to Pagosa Springs. We couldn't have found a better place. Jason and Juliette were excellent hosts and have a great property just south of Pagosa Springs. The guest cabin was everything we could ask for (peaceful, cozy, close to Pagosa Springs, and at a good price).
Thank you, Jason and Juliette for a wonderful stay!
Came up for the long weekend and couldn't have been happier! Wonderful place to stay and terrific owners - thanks so much!!
Excellent value, we highly recommend.
We enjoyed our stay at the Red Paws Ranch guest cabin. It's very cozy and inviting and hosts Jason and Juliette are so friendly and welcoming.
The cabin had everything we needed and we were very comfortable. I was thrilled there wasn't an oven - who wants to bake and do tons of cooking on vacation anyway?! There's a stove, toaster oven and microwave and the kitchen is well stocked with dishes, pots, cooking utensils etc. So plenty of options for cooking if that's your thing. There's a coffee pot and even a french press to make your morning cup of coffee. And it was so nice to be able to bring our dogs with us. There's a dog blanket on the couch so they can hop up and snuggle and plenty of room on the floor for their dog beds. There are even bowls for water and dog food.
The view from the property is breathtaking, especially for us city folk who don't get to live amid this gorgeous scenery all the time. Be sure to check out the stars at night too! The drive into town is quick and easy. Pagosa Springs is a lovely small town with lots of fun shops and a handful of great restaurants. We were here to relax but if you are an adventurer, there's plenty of exploring to do too. There are tons of brochures in the guest cabin for local outdoor attractions and Jason and Juliette were great with making recommendations for easy hiking spots for us - we have 2 old dogs that just can't do the difficult hikes they used to be able to do.
Needless to say, we'd highly recommend this rental.
I am one of those people who is uncomfortable when confronted by a loose, aggressively barking and growling dog, which happened several times during my stay here. All the dogs barked at me whenever they saw me, whether they were in the house or outside, and it is the large dog that makes displays of aggression. At best this was annoying, at worst a bit frightening. "Don't worry, she won't bite you," did not make me feel any safer. One time the owner explained the dog's barking at me was my fault because I had startled her when I opened the garage door (more on that in a minute). The owners are ok with their dog behaving this way toward guests. Then there was a mouse in the room, which I had to trap, kill and dispose of myself. "What do you expect? You're in the country," wasn't the reply I was expecting. Even after my food was safely stashed, the mouse made a lot of noise at night which resulted in disturbed sleep until I caught it. (I understand about mice in the country, it was the attitude I didn't understand.). The "cabin" is actually a room walled off within the garage and the only entry is through the dirty, spiderwebby garage, which means using the garage door opener each time you go in or out, and listening to that sound when the owners come and go --not the worst thing ever, just not very peaceful. The two small windows have no view- one looks out at the horse trailer and the other the wall of the shed attached to the garage and a bit of the yard leading down to the barn. it felt a little claustrophobic at times.
The property is convenient to town, the room's decor is cute, the kitchen adequate if you're not doing any elaborate cooking. The bed is comfortable. Nice supply of movies. The shower was dirty; I cleaned it myself because I was tired of asking for things the room needed (dead battery in the clock, burned out bulb, mousetrap, etc). There is no table to sit at when eating. It felt more like glamping or staying In a motor home than an actual cabin. Prob ok for short stays where you will be eating out mostly and don't mind being barked at every day. I felt like I was inconveniencing them with my presence, rather than being welcomed as a guest. Would not go back.
