We fell in Love with Destin many years ago, we started coming here for business and decided to work here in the real estate industry. We brought our children from the time they were babies and would stay for the entire summer enjoying all that Destin has to offer. We have had tons of family and friends over the years. We bought this home after hurricane opal and have renovated every inch of it. Now our children are in college and we don't utilize this house the way we did for many years, so we decided to share this great home with some other families to allow them to have some great Destin vacations and memories as we have!
Sally purchased this house in 1994
Destin is a great vacation destination, we love the fishing and boating, playing at crab island and watching the dolphins play. Everytime I go to the beach and see this gorgeous green water with the sparkling sugar sand the beauty of it overwhelms me. This home is really spectacular with the short walk to the beach and the inconvenience of having your water vessel at your disposal anytime you feel like jumping aboard! Here you also have the peacefulness of a quiet neighborhood to enjoy a good book or just watching the boats, fish and other wildlife swim or fly by! You really have the best of both worlds, something for everyone in one location!
This is an amazing home with over 3600 square feet of living space and 2000 square feet of decking, which 600 feet of the deck is enclosed, a nice yard beautfully lanscaped, with large bedrooms and spacious family areas. It is recently renovated and is very clean and updated. The large covered deck is very unique and is a great party room! It has a bar, cooktop and seating overlooking the canal right on this deck.
Must agree with FALLING SHORT. We also rented the house, sight unseen. The pictures on the website were very misleading and appear to have been taken years ago. The house is in dire need of upgrading and a deep cleaning. I visited the home on two separate occasions, prior to our event, and it was in a mess both times. At this point it was too late to back out, as we had made a sizable deposit. Yes, the house is in a great location, and has good amenities. My husband and many of our guests agreed that for the amount of money that we paid for the house, the house on a scale of 1 to 10, should have been a 9 or 10, but what we got was a house that should be rated a 5 or 6. The day we moved in for the wedding event, the house was again, a mess, the driveways were covered with tarps, boats etc., etc., etc. And one of the main bathrooms had not even been cleaned. When I opened the door to the king room in the main house the mold and mildew smell almost took my breath. I was real worried that our guests would refuse to stay in that room, so of course I sprayed heavily with Lysol. Prior to our event weekend, the owner was always available on the phone as well as emails. Quite a different story after we left the house. According to our contract, our deposit was to be returned within two(2) weeks after we vacated the property. Well, it took over two(2) months. Our response letter from the owner explained that she had to deducted for dry cleaning of the 3 tablecloths and money for violation parking?? After phone calls, for more than two weeks prior, that were never returned, along with emails, that were also never responded to, by the owner, requesting receipts on the dry cleaning as well as documentation of the parking violation????? It was verbally understood, on numerous occasions, that I would have the table cloths dry cleaned, and at the last day, I was told that the owner would handle it. You must be kidding, is this any way to run a business, especially when you deal with the public?? And from what is posted now on the daily rate, we paid a premium of 30% more per day in addition to the deposit. We rented the house, supposedly in off season, in mid April, and the owner had the nerve to ask for a good review, when #1 she refused to return phone calls, #2 she refused to answer emails, #3 and last but not least, she refused to supply receipts and documentation of alleged parking violations imposed by the HOA. NOT HAPPY
We had our hearts set on a wedding with just close friends and family all traveling from out of state. We ended up with 24 and this was the perfect place to house about half of those guests (with plenty of room to spare!) My friends and my future husband and I all took the main level with room to accommodate more. We were able to stay up late, visit, and have awesome game nights while the rest of my family stayed upstairs in the two bedroom "apartment" where they could go to sleep earlier and do their own thing. The dock was the perfect place for our wedding dance floor with our Dj on the balcony, tables on the lawn, and cake and appetizers in the boat house. The house comes stocked with so much already we didn't have to do much but add our own touch with a few decorations. For a wedding, family reunion, or a group of friends, this place is a great home away from home for a beach getaway. Plus, the homeowner is very easy to work with and accommodating!
My in-laws booked this house for their family/extended family to stay at during our beach wedding, as well as the site for our wedding reception. The pictures online are flawless, which is the main reason it was booked sight unseen. After arrival, it was apparent the house is not very well taken care of. It seems it hasn't been updated since the 90s, which is fine since we all loved the location and were caught up in the excitement of the wedding. What is not fine is that after departing my in-laws did not receive their deposit back in a timely manner (as stated in the contract). It has been nearly 2 years and the deposit has still not been received. Sally gives a different excuse with every contact, if she even goes to the trouble of answering the calls/emails. If you're feeling lucky, go for it. But I definitely don't recommend it. There are far better options with much more accommodating owners that honor their commitments.
My husband and I found this vacation rental for our friends to get away for Labor Day Weekend. We were so pleased with the house. Plenty of room to move around in and lots of space. There were 18 adults very spacious with lovely decor. We brought 2 boats down from the Sip and enjoyed going out to Crab Island everyday. The owners responded to emails in a timely manner. She was very easy to work with, enjoyed meeting her too. Cannot wait to come back to Destin with our friends again!
I chose this vacation rental for my family and friends for my destination wedding last week and I couldn't be more pleased! Sally was easy to work with and responded to my emails in a timely manner. Her house was perfect for my wedding reception! The house is huge which allowed plenty of room for us, and the covered deck, the dock, and the yard allowed us plenty of space to enjoy the reception! There were a few more bugs than I expected, but hey, it's summertime and it's the south, so you can't expect there to be none!
We were celebrating our 50th anniversary with our children and 4 teen grandchildren. There were 10 of us in all. We rented the pontoon and 2 kayaks for two of the days. The kids really enjoyed that. Our son also brought his jet ski and tube from Texas which was great fun! He could dock right at the house. The "old folks" enjoyed our morning coffee in the boathouse. We were also able to see the fireworks from the deck. We also renewed our vowels down on the beach. The house was beautiful and centrally located. The boathouse was a nice respite from the heat. The owner was very hospitable and helpful. It was a very memorable vacation.
This home is located on the salt water canal that you can fish, swim, snorkle, kayak, boat, canoe and totally enjoy! You also have a large yard for family backyard games! We also have a boat available for you to rent! You are a short walk to private beaches of Holiday Isle!
