About Bill Day
We're a North Carolina guy and a Kentucky girl who lives in Florida and has a beautiful home in Virginia. And yes, I have done the impossible and converted a Kentucky girl to a Tar Heel basketball fan.
Bill Day purchased this House in 2005
Why Bill Day chose Woolwine
While dating, we visited a Christmas Tree farm in Meadows of Dan and loved it. We decided to get married there and in looking for a minister, we also looked for land. We wanted long range views and finally found a lot in Edgeview Estates just off Belcher Mountain Road. In 2005, I was hating my job and decided to try one more backpacking trip. Went to the Smokies and came out with a couple of days left on my vacation. I decided to go up to our lot and take a sunrise picture that I could put in my office to keep my spirits up. I drove in early one morning and set up the tripod and waited for the sun. It was okay, but not a trophy shot. Packed everything up and headed back up Belcher mountain. Between my comings and goings, someone had put a for sale sign in front of Laurel Point. I met the owners at the house and it was a glorious day. I think I could see Canada. I was known as a fierce negotiator but I was putty in their hands. I knew I had to have that house. They came down a little and I offered them my sweaty handshake. It takes nerves to buy a house without your new bride having seen it. Obviously all is well that ends well. We decided that the worst thing we could do with the house is just let it sit there. We're 11 hours away and are lucky to visit 2 or 3 times a year. So far we have had excellent guests and feel good about sharing our house. Hope you come and visit. It's beautiful during the spring, cool in the summer and spectacular in the fall. Notice I didn't mention winter. A little too cool for this Tar Heel converted Floridian. Bill

Bill and Mary thank you again for the overwhelming hospitality. The house and view was absolutely amazing and we hope to be back soon. The details you provided as we were planning our trip made things very helpful and we honestly can’t say in words how grateful we are to find your jewel of a home.
Perfect Mountain Holiday Getaway
Both my husband and I lost our fathers during the holiday season (my dad, just one year ago). So we needed to do something different for the holidays. Laurel Point Villa and its gracious owners. Bill and Mary Day, gave us everything, and more than we could have hoped for! The sunrises and sunsets are something we will remember -- forever. The radiant heated floors were much-appreciated when we claimed the award for "coldest stay by a tenant" on January 2, 2018. Bill kept us informed of the various events in the area, and he called on two separate occasions to make certain everything was okay with us. When we had to leave a day early because of the "bombogenesis" in South Carolina (our home), Bill was genuinely disappointed for us and concerned about our safety. Laurel Point Villa reflects this GENUINE concern for people and their joy, comfort, and peace. I cannot say enough good things, except this: "We'll Be Back."
Beyond excellent! A memorable Thanksgiving.
This home is equipped with anything you would need, comfortable and spacious for a large group. There were ten of us. We rented another lovely home nearby to help with sleeping arrangements as the Villa sleeps eight. All of us hung together here though and celebrated Thanksgiving around a table that was ample for all. The kitchen provided modern appliances and plenty of room for several of us to cook together. The views from the deck of the meadows below and mountains beyond are to die for. Sunrise a real treat. And in the evening with all the lights out - the stars!! The Big Dipper was framed, as if up close, in the expansive windows of the living room in the wee hours of the morning (3:30 - 5:00). It was truly magical and awesome. Speaking of awesome, I can't say enough about our hosts. Bill provided the most thorough details about the area and places of interest as well as all aspects of the house. He provided directions to and from the Villa and all sorts of places with personal reviews. I confess most of us didn't go anywhere because we were so happy being there and hanging out together. Beds were comfy - tempurpedic in the master with soft furry blankets. Radiant floor heating, delightful. Electric fireplace so inviting and cozy. You would never know it was in the 20s outside. Plenty of room for parking and handicap accessibility. Husband uses an electric wheelchair and doorways were large enough to glide through. Our dogs were in attendance as well and they had plenty of room to stretch out. Truly couldn't have been better. We hope to return. Maybe next time we will check out some of the local spots. Maybe. 😉
It was just 2 couples and what an awesome trip. We planned to take our meals and everything was great. The grill and state of the art kitchen equipment, anything we needed was there. Bill and Mary what an unbelievable place you have. To wake up to that sunrise every morning is a blessing. Thank you for opening up your house. We are already planning next year. Thanks again.
House was great.
Everything is as owner describes. The home was great for us. We would stay there again.
Great Great property, location and view unparalleled. Mr.Day was very accommodating and really, all you have to do is unpack to enjoy - lots to do in the area but the view from the deck was the most enjoyable. A place to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle.
