Home was fine but issues with the owner.
The home owner states we violated rules by bringing our dogs. It was clearly communicated on our first correspondence that we planned to bring them. In addition the property does not state that dogs are not allowed.
The home is as advertised so it is fine. The beds aren't very comfortable but are ok. It is an eclectic but cute home.
Thank you for response. I do agree that there was some confusion about the dogs coming and I have carefully updated our listing so that the policies are more clear. Thank you so much for bringing this to our attention as we would like to do all that we can to make the experience of staying at our property easy and enjoyable.
Take Care & Thank You again for your comments.
The best way to summarize our experience? Ridiculous.
The home was beautiful as described, but dealing with the owner was a nightmare. Our stay was interrupted two days in when we were kicked out for refusing to sign an absurd paper contract containing several terms that would be illegal in the state of Arizona. Other terms of the contract were hand-written in the margins. Later, my deposit was withheld for a $300 repair to an oven door amid a plethora of other outrageous allegations—some of which, we were told, were reported by neighbors who had been spying on us? Creepy. We were also accused of leaving dog poop in the driveway. We don’t even have a dog. Ridiculous. Thankfully, my bank fully refunded me for the deposit and the time we were shorted.
Peaceful, comfortable home in the pines just like its shown.
We especially enjoyed the back patio area to set out and watch the monsoons roll in over the mountains, listen to birds, and dinners outside . The home was very clean and offered everything we needed.
Pretty location, interesting decor, lack of air movement a challenge in summer.
This was a perfectly fine house with very nice landscaping. Unfortunately, there was no provision for cooling the house in the Arizona summer. Ceiling fans, a swamp cooler, or even more floor fans would have been a nice touch. Probably awesome in winter or fall but we were uncomfortable in June.
Also, the house is constructed in such a way that two of the bedrooms can't avoid every noise from the main bathroom. If you are sensitive to such things you should sleep in the bedrooms away from the bathroom.
The host was very nice and the house rules were easy to follow.
This home does have an excellent state of the art portable air conditioner. It cools the entire upstairs of the home, in addition the upstairs bedrooms have ceiling fans that move air for additional comfort. Downstairs, the home is built into the hill and stays cool. Windows all have blinds that can be closed on the east side of the home to block sun, evenings are always cool in Prescott, elevation here is 5200. However, I do appreciate the guests comment and we did have an unusually warm Spring in Arizona this year, reaching record temperatures in Phoenix.
We were in town for my brother's celebration of life and thought it would be nice for our family to stay together in a house rather than a hotel. It was more than nice! This home is beautiful, comfortable and there was plenty of parking. We were all coming from different directions and at different times so we needed the parking space. Everything works great, was super clean and is quite spacious. We would definitely stay here again.
Peaceful, cozy home
This was a very cozy home with lots of great outdoor spaces to enjoy the forest. Close to town but you almost feel you are on a private road. Had a wonderful stay with family.
Vista is the Pines, a beautifully restored, yet comfortable, Craftsman Cottage, built in 1930, is a 3 minute drive from downtown Prescott, AZ, and the historic Courthouse Plaza Entertainment, Restaurant and Shopping district. The two level, 3/4 acre property with large off-road parking area, and three private entrances is located in a National Historic District and surrounded by mature Ponderosa Pines, landscaped walks, gardens, 3 furnished outdoor patios with cooking areas, large furnished/ fenced \deck facing private backyard. The property sleeps 7, with 2 queen master suites, with an HDTV; 2 bathrooms, lower level sitting room includes sofa converting to single bed. A third bedroom on the upper level sleeps 2 guests. The fully remodeled modern kitchen has all the amenities needed for cooking for a large or small group with a breakfast bar seating two. The dining area, adjacent to the kitchen, seats up to 6 and leads to the living room that overlooks a large outdoor deck and private backyard. A covered parking area is adjacent to the kitchen, and 3 outdoor patios also on the main level. This home is great for a family of 6-7 or 3 couples . The property sleeps 9 in warm months ONLY. A rustic bunk house sleeps 2, for older children, teens and adults who love the adventure of sleeping in the bunk house during cool summer nights! Outdoor sports enthusiasts including hikers, golfers, mountain climbers, mountain bikers, fisherman, birding enthusiasts, kayakers, hunters, paddeboarders, and those who love long walks in protected and pristine National Forests will find Prescott has it all to offer within 1-5 miles of Vista in the PInes! The City of Prescott has an extensive and well developed trail system that surrounds the entire City. Hikers will find a multitude of trails in the Prescott National Forests that surround the City. Several lakes are maintained by the City within 2-3 miles; Watson and Willow Lakes located on Hwy 89 rents kayaks and canoes or bring your own! Lynx and Goldwater Lakes are located in the Prescott National Forest and also offer stocked fishing. The City of Prescott has a well maintained 18 hole golf course, Antelope Hills, approx. 3 miles from downtown Prescott. There are other private and public courses in Prescott area. The City of Prescott also has a wonderful concert series that runs for most of the summer week nights on the downtown Courthouse Plaza. Grab a folding chair and join groups of residents and visitors in the cool summer nights. Before the concerts there are many terrific restaurants surrounding the Courthouse Plaza and side streets that offer excellent food and varied menus including authentic Mexican food, Thai food, steak houses, great hamburgers, Italian, and Pizza. I like Park Plaza with reasonable prices, good food, and a large selection of wines and hand-crafted beer that changes monthly. Also try outdoor dining on the creek at El Gato Azul, great chef with an ever-changing menu, located adjacent to Park Plaza. If you like Thai, try TERRA Restaurant across from the Courthouse Plaza. Excellent! Every weekend May-September there are terrific craft and art shows at the Courthouse. If you love Historic Towns of the Old Cowboy West, Prescott is the place to discover how Arizona was settled. Visit the outstanding Sharlot Hall Historic Museum with the first Arizona Territorial Governor''s Residence and a magnificent heritage rose garden. If you come in late June, get rodeo tickets right away to the Oldest Rodeo in the country, right here in Prescott ! One of the leading western rodeos in the West. The rodeo arena is 2 miles from the property, but get there early for parking and/or tickets. July 4th is a huge celebration, don't miss the parade downtown and fun all weekend long! There are many great places to visit in Northern Arizona. The Grand Canyon is a 2hr. drive, or you can take the train to the Grand Canyon that runs out of Williams, AZ., about an hour south of Flagstaff on Hwy. 89, approx. an hour from Prescott. The old mining town of Jerome is a short 1 hour trip across the Bradshaw Mountains and has many unique gift shops and wine tasting rooms. Jerome is the gateway to the Northern Arizona Wine Country. Visit several award winning wineries in Cottonwood, Clarkdale, and Camp Verde. This is a great way to tour the Verde Valley in Yavapai County and taste some great wine. l recommend Page Spring Winery in Clarkdale with many fine wines, food, and fabulous deck that overlooks the Verde River. Heaven!! Within a 1-1/2 hour drive toward the Verde Valley visit ancient and well preserved Aztec ruins at Montezuma's Well off Hwy I-17, near Clarkdale. After visiting the ruins, it is a short drive to Cliff Castle Casino. A few more miles north on I- 17, DO NOT MISS magnificent Sedona Red Rocks and Village of Sedona, one of the many highlights of Northern Arizona! There is much to see and enjoy. Welcome to Precott, Arizona!!
